Get a better clutch and then you break the poor old T5. Get a stronger box and then you break CV's............. .........but I still want one haha

Have some of you blokes been living under a rock for the past few weeks? There have been a number of articles posted and media statements released by Ford stating that they are in the process of developing a range of new Duratec TwinForce (Twin Turbo) engines, including 4cly, V6 and V8. The 3.5 V6 TwinForce engine will produce 430 hp (321 kW) and 400 ft·lbf (542 N·m) of torque. do not recall the power figures for the V8, but I do recall that is will be 5000cc. The days of big cubes are gone and with the oil shortage and prices of fuel it is about time that companies look at technology such at forced induction to produce more efficient, smarter and smaller and eco friendly engines. We have a late 04 WP Fiesta that has done 98000km. Great little car with not problems at all. Still very solid and nothing has fallen appart.

Works out good if you work for an organisation that can get government fleet pricing. Hence you can get a brand new BF XR6T for 32k on road. I looked at this a few months ago and in some ways it is good but in other it is not so good. In my case it would cost me about $1000/month to get a full maintenance lease for 4 years, this includes all running costs etc. I opted to wait for the Orion to come out because I know that I would regret the fact that I am tied in for 4 years with a BF. You can go for a shorter term lease but then the lease payments are going to be more. Also the purchase price will determine what the residual is at the end of the lease. On a 48 month lease the residual is 37.5% of the purchase price (32k). You don’t pay GST when you buy the car but you have to add GST to the residual so the total residual is about 13k. So at the end of the day if you do the maths, the 48 month lease will cost me 48k and at the end of it I can sell the car and make a profit and offset that against the total outlay over the 48 months. But at the end of the day I would still be 40k out of pocket and have no car after 4 years. Either way cars cost you big bucks and you need something to offset the loss you make on cars, such as houses.

I think you will find that it is Twin Turbo due to the V configuration, one turbo per bank to make the plumbing easier and neater? I do not think these new Twin Turbo engines are a low and high end setup. Bit early to bag the engine as we have no fact to make judgment other then the fact it is a V6 and that the current VE V6 is a POS.

I think all you guys are over-reacting. Reality is the IL6 is history and we will get a new engine. The Duratec 35 has be rated in the top 10 engines in the world. This engine also comes as a 3700cc unit. Would you rather lose the IL6 or lose the Falcon all together? For those asking what about the V8? Go to goauto.com.au and read the article posted 2 days ago about the new range of Twin-Turbo Ford engines, one of them being a new 5.0 V8 that makes over 320kw. Its all about cost cutting and as the end of the day FMC is a big business that is trying to make money and not lose money.

My BA Fairmont returns about 10.4-10.6l/100km. Trip Computer tells me 10.6 but I have checked it a few times after filling up and it is normally a tad less then 10.6 Average speed is 40km/h and I do a 60/40 highway/city split. As a comparison, our Fiesta gets over 600km out of 40l of ULP

I dont think you would have got colour LCD screen. It is still the mono screen, but the full size screen like in the Fairmont and Falcon ES. Still though it makes the interior look 100x better with the dual zone climate facia and full size screen. Much nicer then the smaller screen and turn knobs.

Not bad at all, lets just hope Orion gets same specs and prices stay the same. The XR6T is event better value now Would have been nice if the XR6T utes also got the same treatment.

Any factory options? Would also depend on condition of car. If it is dead stock with no options my guess would be 22-24k.

Last week I bought a Mio P550 PDA with in-built GPS. Primary use will be GPS, but I liked the fact that I can run multiple navigation application on in plus the fact it is a PDA with WiFi and Bluetooth also has its perks.
