Just been down to the repairer and have a few pics The top two are the bar that the bonnet latches on to front bar Some other poor bugger also copped a wack in their XR6. Its almost the same damage as mine but his hit made it to the motor. Must thank Barry Hill Motors (smash repairer) for getting into my car so quickly. They have only been able to work on the car since yesterday morn and by tomorrow it will be ready to spray.. Not bad hey. These guys arent dodgy at all they have the Australia WIDE contract for reparing toyotas so they must be doing somehting right.

that's correct they are not legal and the only way they are is if the person who you buy it from gives you a piece of paper to say it is enginnered. Due to ADR97 from memory. Alot of people will tell you they have them and havent been booked they can consider themselves lucky. It`s due to if the have an accident there has been no adr testing on the bonnet therefore they dont know how it will smash. There habe been stories of snapping of at the hinges going through windscreen etc, the same applies to the carbon fibre bonnets out there. Biggest problem is the people that make these bonnets will not spend the money to get them engineered because it cost too much. Do a search this topic has been covered many times, The same applies to fibreglass bumpers ast they are frontal impact. Well have a nice day I looked at all this before I bought my steel xr8 bonnet. ← Thanks for clarifying that for us.. I think I made the right decision now.

Well I just rang my repairer and its good to go for the job. The new bits have been orded and it should be ready next week. All the normal bits are going back on the car for now
