  1. Well I'm almost finished..... All the front trim pieces are covered with carpet on the tops and sides with foam on the bottoms...I also foam covered the actual enclose - here is a pic with one layer of foam. As you can see there are a lot of plastic clamps, I'm using the factory carpet for the rear piece, Its been cut off to about that point and folded over - I'm just keeping its shape and will I figure out how I am going to finish it off.
  2. You can also get the paint made up - I got some (in a spray can) mixed at Autobarn. $20ish - just tell them your paint code.
  3. Well, got the stuff I needed from Clark''s this morning, I didn't see any with the sticky backon on it (well not in this size)? Anyway I got about 4 square metres of the stuff - with the plan to put it on the bottom of all the bits I have made. While I was out I also got a new fuse holder. The one I had been using was one from a previous install and didn't have a big enough fuse anyway.
  4. You are both on the money.... So far all the pieces all the top and sides are covered in carpet. I went down to Bunnings on the way home from work to buy some foam - I though you would be able to get in in the section where they sell rubber and carpet from the rolls. No deal. All the bottom/lower sections will be covered in foam to stop movement and rattles and any possible scratches. Anyone know where I can get some - I'll try Clark rubber I think. Thanks Lord Cyric... I realy dont use the boot that much - I was figuring that this would give me the best utilisation of space I could muster. I still wanted to have the split rear seats which was a big contributor to this style.
  5. Hey Guys, Just a little update, I have made the side pieces that go to the left and right of the enclosure. These are MDF and are there to make the floor level, providing a clean look. They are being glued as we speak. The right hand one will work like the factory piece, foam underneath , covering and allowing easy access to the jack. The rear part of the boot (looking in) will utilise the factory carpet (which matches the stuff I am using beautifully) All I have to do is make a nice straight edge to meet the enclosure. Chris.
  6. Yeah, I've had it done on previous cars - mainly to remove carpark type dints. The whole family and a lot of friends have had it done also. The place I used, utilised a sliding scale to charge per dint - more dints, less $/dint. Was very happy with the result - lucky I haven't had to use him for the T.
  7. that's exactly what I was going to say - I'm in the same boat - dont wear a watch and dont have a clock. I'd looked at all the Autometer ones, but they dont look that nice - most of them are old school looking. Now a Cobalt one to match my boost gauge and I'd have one in a flash. Anyone know any other companies that make one? I've never found a decent one.....
  8. Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have inspiration from Bob's install (the one you have pictured), in fact he was a great help when sorting out the technical side of my DVD HU on the factory screen. There are places that you can get glass and resin cheap - however I dont personally know of any on QLD - yellow pages are your friend. I'd never really fibreglassed before and mine is ok - just plan exactly what you want to do and take the time to do it carefully. If you haven't seen the other pics of bob's install you should do so - his is far more professional looking than mine.
  9. Thanks Dags, Honestly the jiggy wasn't plugged in Seriously its damn hard doing all that in a garage that is literally 2cm longer than the BA - no room at all. Poor car had to live outside while the garage was full of junk.... Needs a wash, its covered in MDF and Fibreglass dust
  10. I did think of it (I did it in my last install) - and I still might, I was thinking of making a beauty board to cover the entire width of the boot - therefore having it flush mounted....We'll see... To remove it (all wiring has plenty of slack so that the entire thing can be raised) takes not long at all, seriously 30 seconds when you know where to pick it up from - during its creation it was in and out 50 times. The main reason I used this desing was so that I can use the boot often. I seriously dont carry that much - but I wanted to be able to use the 60/40 split rear seats. Either the beauty board idea or a grille of some description will be created just to make sure. Yeah, I remember your boot - I trying to keep as much room as possible in there - that's why I went that design. Cooler will have to be on my list soon, poor trans cops a hiding. Did you install it yourself?
  11. Hey Guys, Well my long weekend was set aside for my install which consisted of the following components RF 3Sixty.1 Processor RF P2D212 12" DVC Sub Soundstream VGA320.4 4 Channel Amp This is addition to what I already have installed which consists of Alpine DVD HU and Alpine 5x7's all round. My Plan was to utilise the spare wheel well to fibreglass an enclosure for the sub, and to house the amp and processor Everyone knows what the area I'm talking about looks like - I'm keeping the spare wheel - inverted. There are a whole lot of steps that I did next, which involved cutting MDF for the base of the enclosure (at the bottom of the wheel), cutting MDF for the amp/processor floor and the upper area was framed to provide an easy seal with the top. In all I used 3 layers of resin and glass. Where I could I screwed and glued the MDF frame first After 2 layers of glass Here is the top panel, after this I recessed the lip where the sub mounts - just a few mm to make is slightly more flush. Dummy Fit time, I covered all the viewable bits with carpet. I made a piece of carpeted MDF to cover the amp/processor too which is easily removable.... When finished all the sides will be glued Sub goes in, time to take it for a test - not finalised in total yet - hence the power and earth cables (and generally all the other ones) just thrown around. With the cover removed, you can see 2 cutouts in the lower right, these are for PC case fans which I'll install shortly, they should help to keep everything cool. When I'm finished I'll put back the original carpet (apart from the centre bits which I have obviously no need for) and make the floor flush. I'm sure I've forgotten lots of exciting stuff, either way, this is my install thread. If you have any questions, just ask. By no means am I portraying this as perfect, however having done absolutely everything myself I am quite proud. Now I am going to sit in my car and listen to music.
  12. So any news yet Mike? Its probably something that I should do so I'm interested to see how you go. Are you doing it all by yourself? Chris.
  13. Check out this - it's all I know for QLD http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/...ion_jan05v2.pdf
  14. I thought they stopped selling the 60GB version (PS2 backwards compatible) versions? You cant get anymore of them it looks like....
  15. Thanks Wilko, I dont have any wheels that need re-coating at the moment... Some of the wheels I have been looking at have required it though - this has predominately put me off though. What kind of dollars am I looking at for re clearing 4 18" rims - I can then take that into account when valuing rims. Take it to PM if needed. thanks, Chris.
  16. Does Miss Aly (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling?) still sell them? I've got one of the single pod ones - but there are/were twins available. I'm sure it would be cheaper than OEM.
  17. Having a set of uncoated alloy rims before, you are correct in saying that it will need a polish from time to time - either way they look spiffy now. loopism how do you apply the sealer you are referring to - have you used it before? The reason that I ask is because I have been looking at some secondhand rims that require attention to the clear coat. Anyone had rims professionally re clear coated?
  18. Brand New from Ford (get ready to bend over though) Secondhand on Ebay Sometimes in the forsale section here An aftermarket version instead? 52mm is the right circumference, I had to trim the mounting screws to fit mine in an aftermarket pod Any Auto Elec or Mechanic I would assume. Dont know?
  19. One question, is how do you plan to get the signal to the amps? You haven't made mention of an aftermarket Head Unit or a Signal Processor/Line Out Convertor (LC6 etc).... Thants one of the big questions I'd be asking before you embark on sorting out your other gear. I find Freeway Car Audio to be decent in terms of their knowledge, however not usually as keen as other retailers to budge as much on price
  20. So.... How did it go ??
  21. that's CRAZY... I counted 10 Screens in the pics - where are the rest?
  22. Very good idea! :banghead: The only question that I have is - Does it make it feel more 'confined'... Darker colours make a room feel far smaller than lighter colours and this is the reason that I assume Ford go for a more airy lighter feel?
  23. I've got a passenger side one from a BA - I'm pretty sure it is in working order. If you aren't willing to pay wull price for a new one shoot me a PM and I'll drop you some pics.
  24. Just for information, what are the specs.... now that you have found out?
  25. Yeah, same as Lord Cyric - easy to install. I made my own connections from the Nokia kit to the ICC connections - pretty easy if you are in anyway technicaly minded
