  1. Happy Birthday Ghia!

  2. Who do metal replacements - from memory it might have been atomic? Are there any downsides? Increased weight I 'spose.....
  3. How come you are selling yours Dalesy? I've seen a few reback catbacks on the E Series but I haven't personally seen on a B Series - what do you think of it?
  4. Ghia

    19"s

I went from 17's to 19's and dont really think that the ride quality suffers too badly at all. As for ride height, here is mine with 19's and stock XR6T suspension - I'm happy that I'm not going to drop it any lower (although I have been tempted
  5. Are the BF rims the same off-set as the ones you are replacing? Not a staggered set from a ute for example?
  6. I've got 2 decent ones here from when I replaced mine with a new set (stupid plastic clips broke on the others)... Drop me a PM with a $$ if you still need them
  7. I love Optimas, have had them in my last three cars and never missed a beat - copping a decent stereo load. Heres a pic of my current one installed - fyi they don't fit in the factory battery box either (not the D34)... and one day I'll move the fuse holder to a permanent home.
  8. Oops, I stand corrected. Here are the pics of my boot lid AS for the trunk kit, I believe its the same stuff but a smaller quantity.. That will do your boot lid and some of the 'floor' depending on how crazy you go.
  9. Soory I just realised I didn't answer your question. I used a Extreme Bulk Pack pf Dynamat. On your other question about a battery. I got an Optima when I did my install, my battery was on the way out so I figured it was a good time to upgrade. Never missed a beat (and I've had them in all past 3 cars)
  10. It wasn't difficult to do, you get your hands cut ut a bit, mostly in the tricky areas I used cardboard/paper to get the shapes right first then apply it. I bought the boot lid carpet (it was in fairmonts etc) and it looks waaaay better now, here is the thread you can see my pics in http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42120 FYI I used a Rockford Fosgate 360.1 convertor in my install Here's the thread relating to how I installed my HU. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53051 Otherwise the route that Mika took is another good option. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53255
  11. Most of your other questions have been discussed so I'll add my 2c on sound deadening. I've used Dynamat Extreme on my BA. I've used it on the door trims (section against the interior door and inside of the external door skin), boot floor and boot lid. All trim pieces have fitted back on with no problems. It makes quite a decent difference and I'd suggest that if you are thinking of doing it its definately worth doing the job properly - for the result its money well spent.
  12. Totaly agree, I had my factory rotors machined twice during warranty and it only stopped the shuddering briefly. As Senna said even just a replacement with better parts of the same sizes is a huge step up. I put DBA's on a while ago and cant fault them for 'feel'.
  13. Nice work! I got worried for the guys who were left because it started raining on my way home - looks like it turned out well!
  14. I've been asked quite a few times, I'd love to but I've got a 8 month old and there isn't enough time in the day unfortunately :( There was a period of about 4 months where the fascia you see here had nothing done to it! One day I'll get some time back - I hope - then the car can get some more attention again.
  15. Hey Mika I put Falken 451's on mine (245/35/19) - think they have been superceeded now though? They do an allright job though. $245 each, fitted and balanced. I tried to get Maxxis Z1's and Marangoni Mythos however nobody had them in stock and I was sick of waiting because I'd good stuff about both so try and find some decent prices on them I erection.
  16. Looks good Mika! A great option, its about time they something like this is available. There is a guy on here that had the steering controls working for his Alpine HU, not sure if he was reproducing them though.....

  18. Is there are place that you dont love shoving stuff into To stop spamming this tread I have created a new one with a few pics of the build http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53051
  19. Hey Guys, Thought I'd better make a topic showing what I did to mount my DVD H/U. This is my second effort, and my previous effort, plus the rest of the install is here: INSTALL - DVD HU INSTALL - Sub, Amp, 360 So I started off with a spare shifter surround plate. From there I used some balsa wood to produce a shape that was close to what I needed, I then hot glued the balsa to the shifter surround. This gave a strong enough platform and shape to start from. I then sanded and shaped it a little better now that it was all one piece - with the help of paint between sands to get an understanding of how I was progressing. I drilled some holes through the plate to help the resin 'attach', I then started to lay glass and resin, the attached pic is after one layer. About 6 layers later I added some filler which I sanded to give me the desired shape - again I put a light spray of paint between sandings to give me an idea of lines and progress. I then cut out the section to mount the DVD Player and gave it a spray, the colour isn't the best match but its pretty good straight from a can.
  20. I've only got one uploaded, this was during construction : I basically started with a shifer surround and a piece of balsa. I shaped the balsa to an approximate shape and hot glued it on. From there there are plenty of layers of glass and mat, finished off with a fair bit of sanding and filler... I'll upload some more pics on the w/e if anyone is intersted.
  21. You could do what I did and fibreglass onto an existing shifter surtround to make it fit flush with the bottom of the ICC:
  22. If you're willing to travel a bit further the other way there is a set in Sydney : Ebay Linky PS I have absolutely no connection with the advert
  23. Saw a white XR6T ute getting a parking ticket on St Kilda road today, sucks to be that guy :(
  24. Just put some Falken 451's on mine (245/35/19), I can say they are much better than the shagged dunlops that I had on there before.... $245 each, all up. I tried to get Maxxis Z1's and Marangoni Mythos however nobody had them in stock and I was sick of waiting.
  25. I use Optima Yellow tops. Have done so in my past few cars. Can say I've never had a problem, and they have all lasted for longer than I've ever kept any of my cars! The've all been powering modified cars with decent stereos and have never missed a beat. Car even starts more confidently than the stocko batt. Looks cool too
