Yeec does your residual figure include 10% GST? Most of the finance companies DO not includes this in the residual. If yes, the residual becomes $30,015. Do your figures include FBT?

The RAV is a camel's car and promoted by Toyota accordingly!

I remember a thread that if bigger injectors are added then the trip computer displays the incorrect fuel consumption result as it uses the the injector duty cycle to compute the figure. Hence, with bigger injectors, presumably the duty cycle is less and the read out is much more optimistic than reality. Suggest you check how many litres of fuel you pumped in and measure it manually.

Cameron - Sorry to hear about this misfortune. My advice is that you may be closer to the end of the saga than perhaps you realise. Might be better to wait for your car to return before deciding whether to sell or not. I can only add that (from what I have read), that the dealer should offer you a detailed explanation to you why the car was at their dealership for 18 days. Ask them whether they have been in touch with Ford daily and to whom they have been discussing the issue. Ask them for the process to full resolution is (I.e. what are the next steps) and use your good relationship with the dealer to work through it. I emphasise that the dealer attempting to "buck pass" and blame Ford Motor Co is not acceptable. Always ask what next, what next ? Call daily to follow up. I think it is easy for them to blame Ford Motor Co, as the servicing dealer is delegated the role of managing your custom. I would put a lot of pressure on the dealer to resolve the issue. Put a demand in writing to the dealer principal and copy in Ford Motor Co with a deadline. First priority is to get your car back fixed as a matter of urgency. Upon receipt of the car and if recitified to your staisfaction the problem is resolved. You can keep it or sell it. But if the Ford Motor Co are unable to rectify the matter (when they eventually get your car), then you have a lot of leverage for demanding that they repurchase your car back, consider trade on GT etc. If you walk away, you may lose more than you had to by selling privately. Buyers are very cautious when buying cars >$30,000 in a private sale. I don't think you'll get $50k. Remember fleet buyers are getting T's for $40-$43k ex gST with $3-5k of options brand new. I urge you not to take offence at my post, as I cannot appreciate the frustration that you have clearly encountered on this issue. I do genuinely wish you good luck in resolving this issue!

Datsun 120Y.

Marvellous effort that!

Yep I think it's just on the underbelly of 10K Top Value and would be awesome.... Damn the G/F! :o No Phase 3 for me... "Wax on wax off"! - sorry I just had to drop that in! She's your g/f not your wife! I don't think full SWMBO status is granted in this case. Add an "S" at the end for sometimes - I.e. SWMBOS
-
I don't think it is your mods (exhaust and cold-air). Take it to the dealer and they should be able to rectify.

Thanks Harasn, appreciate the detailed info.

Ford were not in the Top 10 from my recollection. On a serious note, I could not understand why Expensive Daewoo rated so bad. I don't place much credance on these, Telstra rated in the Top 10 and Bottom 10.

Great stuff and Having owned both an XR6T and a VY SS, what are the pros and cons?
-
That's awesome 100%! Well done!

Thought it was a good read and very light on detail. No further info on gearboxes - just speculation of the 6 speed auto/manuals. The article stated that the airbox is a "2-Way" intake which reduces the intake pressure by 40%. From the photo it looks the same as the XR6 airbox and has the same snorkel as the XR6T from the side of the airbox curved up to the top of the radiator. I'm guessing that FPV have added an XR8/GT type cold air duct below the passenger side headlight. (I did this mod for $60 based on '56 Mainline's posts from last year.)

You're young and enthusiastic - but take the guys' advice. The mods you suggest would involve the car being off the road for some time and there would be countless reliability/setup issues. Faygun is spot on. I once had an '88 Celica SX FWD with a '91 GT4 3SGTE turbo engine. Great car when is was working. It spent 2 weeks on the road and 2 weeks off - broken gearboxes, clutches and later had problems with the brake cylinders. Go with the EL. Start small (e.g. filter, exhaust) and then go for a more ambitious project. I reckon a reconditioned engine would be the best money spent. Next I would consider renewing the suspension and put in some good brake pads. Don't waste your $$$ ricing it up. I think you're getting a bit carried away - You will have more trouble insuring an EL with a BA DOHC head than a jap import. For what you have in mind I would suggest you should be prepared to spend $10k to $15k at least to perform the mod you are contemplating. Alternatively, get an EF/EL XR6/XR8 instead.

Post the article on this thread and I'm sure we will comment.

The T is the first car I have had with leather (std not sports) - I have been nothing but impressed. Supposedly, it gets better with age (so they tell me). I don't find it hot in summer (I'm in Sydney) and very comfortable. Very easy to clean and maintain (use Meguirs leather wipes). The only downside, is the charcoal door inserts do cheapen the look. Can't comment on the baby seat. It's all personal preferance.

Donation on it's way ! Good luck with the upgrade Chris!
-
Good options and colour Mattson! Brings back memories - I received my T on Fri 28th, 2003. Same colour and options as you except regular XR leather in place of sports, no GT wheel and a sunroof. After 1 year and 28,000km - "I can't get enough of this"! It's still a very impressive car. Hang in there, you're in the home stretch now.

....but also embarrasing when you spring an oil leak :finger:

And FPV GT posters about $8.70 odd after the 15% discount. FPR boxers $16.95 (wearer to add the bulge).

Great first post dude! Why bother sharing your "emotive and superficial" critique with us? Do you expect us to say "Mazdaman said the XR6T is not a PROPER SPORTS CAR, better trade up to an RX-8". You're a marketer's dream, clearly you'll believe any spin. Try good hard facts. Compare the technical specs and performance of the XR6T to any sports car you care to mention in the $45-$50k bracket and it is the benchmark car. The XR6T is faster and is a head turner. It's probably not as good in the handling dept as the RX-8. :flameman: By the way the RX-8 is a 4 DOOR! You've got a great (family) car - go enjoy it! :flameman:

Could not agree more, If some members dont like the content of the discussion then leave the thread in question and move on to what you want to view. :flameman: Its not possible that all members on the forum are going to agree on every issue and that's ok, you have to expect some controversy when discussing technical product. Peter APS Yes we are being too precious. I genuinely appreciate that APS, Nizpro et al, take time and care to answer our queries and at the same time have the right to protect their commerical interests. Without showing any bias towards APS, I appreciate the HUGE amount of time that Peter puts in to reply to member's q's. I do back up Peter's peristence that those who shirk from disclosing their commercial interests, should expect no favours. As prospective customers we have the unique opportunity to select the tuner we think suits our needs. I would be disappointed to lose this opportunity to exchange views with all the tuners. Geeseman - You are spot on! Well said. I have enjoyed the debates thus far and hope that everyone is able to respectfully forward their views.

Being in the Rouse Hill recycled water precinct in North West Sydney, we don't have water restrictions and are free to use irrigation systems to water the garden, hose hard surfaces and wash the car with a hose. The water is recycled from the sewage from all residents in the region and then treated (not suitable for drinking) and available via a separate water supply. Fresh water is also provided for household use. As a bonus the cost of recycled water is approx 25% of the cost of fresh water. It's a excellent system.

Sharkey is right. I think you want to maintain your current membership status whne your FORD Assist runs out or you change cars. If yes - Assoc membershiup is the way to go. I think it's $20 per year or thereabouts.
