should be good for another 30rwkw.

Great work cutsnake. I am impressed with this innovation and am eager to know more when details come to hand. Can I ask a silly question if I may: Can a DVD device be connected to the TEAC set top box and played on the ICC screen?

Maybe she is only attractive under optimal lighting conditions (like that Seinfeld episode).

Hey Doc, keep us posted. Sounds like your SA has not come clean. On an aside, what happened to your footnote "Safe and happy driving..." statement?

It has become very difficult to sell a non-prestige car privately for more than $20,000. With all the media reports on vehicle rebirthing and winding back speedos etc - buyers have become a lot more cautious. In addition, record car sales means that folks with budgets in the high $30's for a T (or any other car) may as well buy brand new for a few $$$'s more. A T which is sold for $39k privately, does not include stamp duty, usually has the balance of rego, may be due for a major service 45k, have 50% worn tyres etc. Hence the gap between 2nd hand and new at fleet prices is not that great. In addition, GST on a fleet car is also deducted from the sale price for company owned vehicles. Desirable options may make a 2nd hand car more appealing, as the buyer's emotional attachment are stimulated. e.g. 2nd hand T for $39k with leather, 18" wheels, premium sound, sat nav and sunroof compared to a $45k on road for a base spec T would be a difficult choice for the private buyer.

Welcome Speed1! I would suggest that you get your dealer to rectify this. It should be under warranty.
-
I'm sure it will be a "virtual" punch - you won't feel anything in reality. Current issue of Wheels states that Series II is due Aug 04 and I quote "...suspension tweaks likely".

Well done Doc! Great colour choice too. Agree with comment that Blueprint with luxo pack is a desirable combo.
-
Good work 6six6! No doubt the LS1's will cleanup, give the T a year or 2 - things might be closer. Sorry I cannot attend as per my PM, but thanks for orgainsing this friendly challenge.

I'm using Ferodo Formula with the std rotor. Great performance, no fade and a sh#tload of dust!

The resale on a Pursuit will be very poor, Charliewool is tyring to sell his at the moment and the best he has been offred is $40k, wholesalers are offering high 30's Pursuits appeal to a tiny market. Good info Mondie. Poor bugger (Charliewool), best to hang onto it if he can. I always assumed that the utes had better resale than the sedans even after factoring the lower purchase price of the ute. $40k for a near new Pursuit is good buying on the 2nd hand market - presents another option bearing in mind the small pool of potential buyers.

Maybe overboosting. Time for a trip to the service dept.

Plonky - The call to "Performance Bodykits and Stickers" has been made! They will be in touch shortly. Great problem to have. I'd suggest XR8 ute/Pursuit option - should have better resale than the sedan. There must be good deals on the 8 and I think Ford have a promo (free options) at the moment on them (not sure on the ute though) Whatever you do, don't rush the decision - it's very very exciting weighing up the pros and cons, the $$$'s, options, seat of the pants assessments etc! I've been half tempted to trade the T for a Boss V8 for the past few months now - just for the experience. I still rate the T as high the day I got it, so I'll probably do nothing.

VYII Clubbie 285kw or VYII SS 245kw M6.

Marvellous effort Doc/APS! What the dyno reading before the Unichip?
-
Puff - It has a strut brace, 10kw extra and a series 2 badge. Not sure about you but I would classify this as a "major overhaul". NOT

Rev, I did not make my views clear enough in my previous post. I agree with your first comment about the R32 chassis. To be blunt my point is that the GTR/Skyline is based on a family car as is the XR6T. I am also flagging that this is irrelevant. The Hyundai Tiburon was designed to be a sports car (retails for $42k plus) - so does that automatically make it a better performance car? I am only highlighting that the intended function of the Skyline/Falcon etc etc is not the only indicator of it's performance ability. Forget the marketing and the Import magazines etc etc. Let's not forget that the Falcon chassis would have been setup for a V8 (high torque) powertrain in mind for the AU and was tweaked for the BA (e.g. the control blade IRS). Further, the Falcon chassis is very rigid (and bloody heavy to boot), and this makes it a great starting point for a performance bias. I also agree that the GTR (esp R32 and R34) in stock form will comfortably outpace a stock XR6T. I saw your sig and your a lucky bugger to own one these beasts. As I said in my previous, I have a lot of respect for the GTR. Maybe a comparison with the Typhoon to a GTR would be more appropriate. I would still predict that the GTR would be faster in a straight line (4wd traction) and quicker round the track. I used to own an S14 200SX from new with minor boost/exhaust mods making 120rwkw. I mention this only to highlight that I'm a fan of Nissan (closet fan on this forum anyway - and I'm coming out baby!!). With the T having an inline 6 and a turbo puts it into the esteemed company of the Skyline/GTR and the Supra. It's all good.
-
Sorry den_iel - You'd be very wrong! A member with std XR6T with no mods has done a high 13 (Mr Walker - I think) and a lot of lightly modded ($5k bolt ons) T's are also running 12's as well. Do the research my friend! The GTR is based on a 4 door family car known as the Skyline. Amazingly, this vehicle whilst capable of inflicting wet dreams, is also a family car. What are your thoughts of the E55 and M5? Just because the intended function of a vehicle is quite broad does in no way indicate it's performance potential. Your comment suggests that you are a marketer's dream. The GTR is a great car and I have a lot of respect for it. I disagree with the basis of your conclusion - you should check your facts. Have you got your learner's permit yet?

Warning: Passionate rant below......................... This is the Left movement going mad!! Scare tactics and prescribing a device for every possible offence: - is not commercially feasible - nor is it easy to administrate - but most importantly it insults the intelligence of the majority - it is likley to ultimately fail due to loopholes, tampering etc Basic human psychology in this scenario: Govt acts as a "parent" and treats the road users as "children" who cannot be trusted to do the right thing. We all know that governments lack the expertise/experience with the specific issues of road safety (e.g. the simplistic speed kills statement). Some q's: How much does it cost ? How much will the govt waste to test the accuracy and anti-tampering risk for these devices? What about older cars and retrofitting? Will the annual rego inspection blow out to a full day inspection? How will we know that the implemenation of the devices are improving road safety? This all wreaks of Labor Party politics and is not in the interests ( and is disrespectful) to the citizens of this country. My solution: Education, positive encouragement and an increased investment in infrastructure is the way to go. Examples of each: Education: Advanced driver training, Tuition on road craft (much like the NSW Riders course for obtaining a motor cycle lisence) at subsisided rates. Positive Encourage: Rebates for using performance tyres, free vehicle safety inspections to flag any safety issues. Infrastructure: Esp in Sydney widen key arterial roads and formulate a long term plan to combat known accident blackspots to make road safer, use higher quality bitumen/painted lines and increase traffic flow. If the money is not there now, then every effort should be made to timetable all projects for prioritisation. The END......

XR6 Turbo - that's what Ford called it so I left it that way.

Update of my car. Std Brakes Feb 03 SSS Auto Brake shudder at 9,000km (rotors machined by dealer) New Ferodo TS2000 (formula) pads at 31,000km and Dot 5 fluid change Brake shudder returned 33,500km (rotor machined by dealer) To be honest I'm not too fussed if I had to get the rotors machined every 20,000km. Cost is under warranty anyway. I do recommend a pad change to a higher spec, the Ferodo TS2000 is a very good pad and did fade when I did a track day.

Good luck man - more time to practice your launch technique.

I think that they are jokers! I will definately not use them even though they are in my local area.
-
Welcome aboard Max! As you are serious about your machinery I suggest the following: - Premium brakes - yes (I have std brakes and after an E Creek track day, I wish I had premiums) - Premium Sound - yes (colour screen, factory sub) note this cannot be retro fitted easily and if it can it will cost a lot more than $900 - so decide now; - 18" wheels - I stayed with 17" as tyres are half the price and I believe that there is a minimal performance trade-off. - Tranny - This is a personal choice. I chose the SSS auto and found it quite acceptable on the track as it allows manual shifts to the redline and it holds the selected gear without "second-guessing" your next shift. Note that in stock form, peak torque is between 2000rpm and 4500rpm making the auto a good choice. The T never seems to hunt for a gear. Around town it is fantastic, you plant it and it goes. Most of my cars have been manuals, but I don't feel I've made a backward step going with the auto. - Sydney dealers - note that all the dealers in Sydney except one (Peter Warren) are part of the RJV and owned by Ford Motor Co. I would suggest that you try to get a fleet disc if you can or alternatively use a third party buyer who can get you a similar discount. - Send Peter at APS a PM about any APS Phase 3 queries that you may have. He seems very approachable and always answers member's q's. Just remember that options probably add little to your resale, and the T is no different. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Great analysis Doc. I do appreciate the huge amount of time you have expended to create the file and applaud your decision to make this available to the masses! Coming from a financial backyard, there's nothing like hard facts and figures. Well done! Keep up the good work!
