Interesting thoughts TurboDewd. I like your perspective. The other theory is that there are fanatical foreigners from the Arab world who are behind a lot of the attacks. Obviously, Anti-American sentiment is rife and there are a lot of Arab sympathisers who wrongly believe that this is an atack on Islam, support for Israel etc. etc. It does sadden me that a lot of innocent lives have been lost on both sides, but the removal of the brutal Saddam regime was necessary. I hope the possibililty of peace emerging in Iraq increases, but it is definately too early at this stage to know for sure. I know it is off track, but if most societies do not tolerate the murder of an indivual or the rape of a fellow citizen, why shouldn't a global superpower step in - take a stand against another state who performs these acts on it;s own citizens and say "enough is enough" and take appropriate action? I can be convinced that there are other alternatives prior to any retaliation involving the military.

Dealer reports a broken engine mount, possible faulty ignition coils and has also reflashed the ECU. Will report back tomorrow when I pick up the car. Dealer has been very supportive thus far. Benny - Sorry to hear your pain dude, my car is not over reving on startup - just vibrating which is no doubt due to the broken engine mount. Suggest either the VCT soloneid or the throttle body (per Scotty) are good places to start. Try another dealer??? Good luck and report back when you find out what the problem is.

My T is idling roughly on a cold start and does not rev smoothly to 1500rpm. Initially, I thought it was an exhaust leak or maybe the turbo is loose on the exhaust manifold. After driving about 30km, the car drives a lot smoother which indicates to me that there is no exhaust leak. :o And to the next cold start - back to square one. I did some searches on the forum, and there appears to be many posts relating to issues with the VCT soloneid. Do my symptons seem consistent with this? :o Thanks in advance for any advice that you folks may have. Car has now done 39,000km, is auto and is a Feb '03 build. The car is off to the dealer on Tue to resolve this.

Pg 3 of the latest Auto Action suggests that he is going to start his own team next year. Needs to obtain a Level 2 license etc. I assume he will would run a Holden, but the article did not mention this.

Could not agree more! Some very ordinary roadcraft on display on this fine stretch of bitumen.

On a lighter note (this may be real left field), but has anyone heard that song that Weird Al Yankovic made, which I think is called "Genius in France" on his "Poodlehat" album (I think)? I stumbled across it by accident and it had me in stitches. I know most people will wonder what all the fuss is about and say it is just a crap song. It's a pisstake on French people. Basically a dumb American guy who is seen by the yanks as being as a "deadbeat", but loved by the French.

Bungy jumping, flat out on a zx6r at 270kmh+, taxi trip in New Zelhi!

Great work Grant! Just some observations: 1/ Ref made to Barra 240T probably means XR6T power is unchanged 2/ Boss engines are not referred to as "Boss 260"/ "Boss 290" respectively, perhaps a hint of an upgrade 3/ No mention of ESP (from the Territory) For current SSS(auto) T owners, there appears to be bugger all changes in the spec. Looks like the XR8 is the winner of this upgrade - suspension upgrade may be straight from the GT and address those "nose-heavy" issues. With a few extra kw's, the T vs XR8 gap may be even slimmer!

Elvis, Glad that you agree on democracy. Talking Iraq - Are you suggesting that the doctorine of "do nothing" approach is the answer? Is leaving a ruthless Iraqi dictator in power who mudered his own citizens a viable alternative to the democratic process? You miss the point, the best intelligence indicated that there were WMD (prior to the invasion) - even the Clinton administration did not rebuke this. In fact Saddam has not been co-operative on this issue since the end of the 1990-91 Gulf War. Further, Saddam did not co-operate with the UN Weapon Inspections from 1998 to 2002 which suggested that he had something to hide (17 odd resolutions from memory that Saddam violated). Saddam did invade Kuwait and also did use chemical weapons against the Iranians in the '80s with technology supplied from the French and Germans! This is fact. This issue is bigger than Australia but impacts Australia. (Terrorism: e.g. Bali). Would a reasonable person deduct that it was possible for Saddam to have a WMD programme? Do you think that a terror threat and/or rogue State threat in the Mid East should be ignored? Where do you think Terrorists come from? Now that the war is over - there is no point dwelling on the: "Should we have gone to war notion?" The priority now is the rebuilding of Iraq, and to support our troop's contribution to this process. The irony now, is that UN mandates all of it's members to committ troops to the rebuilding of Iraq. Hence, it is in our nation's interest to be compassionate and support the new govt of Iraq in their pursuit of becoming a democracy. Again, what is the alternative? Plonky - Agree with your thoughts in thread. Keep up the good work! It's all good. I do respect you for having an opinion and arguing for what you believe in.

Hey Lumpen - I can see that you sway to the left. It's all good. Being on the right, I would still never advocate what any journalist (including Piers, Miranda et al) reports or supplies a view blindly. Do you have any specific examples of Piers/Miranda that you felt was propoganda or unsubstantiated? I have not seen any Mike Moore movies, but I have seen him interviewed in the media. The dude appears to be on a witchhunt. A lot of intelligent people (including other forum members) are stating that he has adopted a simplistic portrayal and misrepresented/ommitted some facts. This can do him no good, if he is genuienly seeking to influence his audience with his concerns. I do not know of any left wing regime which has managed to increase the prosperity, quality of life (including the environment) and security for all of it's citizens. Left wing regimes typically lean towards prescriptive policy and regularly interfere with the dynamics of society (social engineering). In turn, these methods lead to poor outcomes due to the resultant policy inconsistencies. Just my 2 cents worth - take the best and leave the rest.

No, not kidding just realistic. Im assuming and having seen videoes of the mag reviwers doing it, that they just floor the car without stalling it at all which is why you see the top cars in PCOTY only score low 13's. The cars weren't designed to stall at high revs and then have the clutch dropped or brake released on autos, which is why at every meet there are cars that fail to complete their runs. Stalling your vehicle like that would only ever be done on the track which is why it isnt a realistic indication of the vehicles performance. I disagree. Loading up the transmission prior to a hard launch is realistic. Not sure how you think that is fake. But if a motoring mag prescribes this practice....well who are we to argue? :uziman:

Open Road should never be opened and be promptly thrown into garbage.

 Respect the American's - - Are you serious!! The Saudi's OWN the American's. If the Saudi's cut all ties with America, USA would be in the biggest recession in history. Billions of $$$ in American banks/Stocks would be enough before even thinking about the impact of oil. The Saudi's would also be up sh*t creek without a paddle. What use is oil, if you have no customers to buy it? The yanks and Saudi's need each other. The Saudi's are exposed, as they rely on the US to provide them with military protection (national security).

Definately 2003, I learnt this the hard way too.

Doesn't hurt to ask. I'd be interested in their answer.

I had a similar issue with my T, it turned out to be a faulty ABS sensor on the front wheel (can't remember whether it was left or right). Dealer replaced sensor and problem never returned.

Exactly what are you setting out to achieve? Suggest you take Trumpy's advice and ask APS and report back. On an aside we're still waiting for those dyno graphs you promised for the vct recalibration.............And how many extra rwkw's were released?

Why would it be a prob with injectors? The ecu still sends a pulse to the injector to squirt the fuel the big injectors just squirt more fuel. Dont they? Cant see your point Tony I think that the point is the bigger injectors will squirt more fuel compared to the std injector from the stock ECU calibration.

Fair call Lumpen - employment stats. I'm in the Finance game, and I have immense difficulty finding suitably qualified beancounters in my team. There seems to be a lot of jobs for the incompetant ones and a grad with 3+ year experience salaries are now 30-40% higher than 5 years ago (Sydney mkt). So I agree with Turbodewds view on unemployment. The current level of unemployment should be compared to that of 1991-93 when we had the "recession we had to have". This is about the time when I started my career, and I do not forget how hard it was to get a good job opportunity. University entrance points were also at all time highs during this time as well, due to the limited employment prospects. Obviously, this account should not be taken as being reflective of the whole labour force. Keep putting forward your views guys.

Glenn is spot on. Icracked my foglight within the 1st week of ownership.

Cro - Glad you are largely ok. That is a huge shunt! Anyway when you fully recover and insurance comes thru, you can have the excitement of selecting and optioning up your next car (hopefully a T)!

Definately Liberal. Warning: Rant and personal opinion. Attached is a link (CLICK HERE) to an interesting document (downloaded from the Liberal Party website) of Labor's mismanagement of the economy when they were last in govt (1983 -96). They really f*&cked things up. Although they may have been selective about the stats quoted, (at least they quote them, unlike Latham's waffle of a reply to the 2005 Budget - I.e. Knowledge Nation Mark II), it definately exposes the lack of talent/competence on the Labor bench. This is particularly prounounced as Labour can't even get the unions to agree with it's policies. Judge for yourself. It's no accident that unemployment is at near record lows and that Australia has been resilient to the global economic downturn. Without economic prosperity (not greed), funding will never be adequate to support services, support the arts and the underprivilaged. There was an amusing letter in a Sydney weekend paper, citing Mark Latham's comments about "climbing the ladder of opportunity" not applying to the appointment of Peter Garret's to the safe Labor seat of Kingsford Smith despite many local Labor branch members investing their time and energies for the party cause. Add it the list with: inappropiate behaviour, degrading relations with the world's only superpower, should we or shouldn't we on Iraq and most importantly the absence of any true alternative policies. As for the Greens and Democrats - when will they ever be positive (or contructive) about any issue? These parties lack discipline and their record to date proves that they have difficulty staying united on key issues. How can they be taken seriously?

My T has 36,000km Feb 03 build auto. To be perfectly honest: I have had not had any driveline clunks, backlash, whine etc etc. The driveline has not been touched since new. * touch wood, touch wood, touch wood * I sincerely wish all those members who are grappling with this problem a fix from Ford on this. I would also urge anyone who has had resolution for any of these problems to bring forward any info that they may have.
