  1. Ha mate congradulations, she looks great. Hows she feel on the road now?
  2. Had a great run the other weekend. Me in my XR and my mate in his Porsche Boxer leading the way up the local range. I knew I could at least keep up on the straight sections but thought as soon as a corner came up I'd be lost for certain. After the first couple of corners he gunned it and so I did the same. While he crept away a little during cornering to my suprise as soon as we began to straighten up I was all over the back of the Porsche again in seconds. We were nose to tail the good majority of the way up, until around 2/3rd's of the way to the sumit when my poor trasmittion decided it had had enough and so wouldn't let me change into 3rd gear anymore at high rev's, so from there I had to leave it in 3rd which of corse ment I was very slow out of corners but the torque of the XR always got me close before the next corner came up. All said and done my mate was very impressed by the performence of the XR and sh*t so was I. Does anyone know what would have caused the car to not want to change gears anymore? I have a strong suspicion the clutch was overheating. The symptoms were: would come out of gear fine but at high rev's would just make that awful grinding sound when you tried to put it in third. After the car had a little rest (stoped for a drink at the top), no problem and it changes just fine now. What would need to be done to stop it happening again? Cheers people, Safe and happy driving, XR6TBug.

    Tyres

Just got some Goodyear Revspec RS02 23545r17's for the XR. Went through the original dunlops in just over 20,000 . The Revspec's won the Wheels tyre comp for a very good reason. Whole car feels alot more stable esp. cornering. Very impressed. Set me back around $340 a corner off memory. Hope they last a little longer then the others but I doublt it.
  4. Ha bugster, I'm with ya. The first mod I did to my car was the exhaust. Love to have a sporty sound to a sporty car. Went with the 3" system and left the rear muffler off. Sounds great. Gives a bit of pop and burble when changing down and a good roor on acceleration. No drown at all. Pisses the oldies off across the road but I love it. Happy driving, Luke.
  5. Had a very similar problem, clunk when turning in to park car, clunk when going round corners and really pushing it. Eventually ford service found problem was loose nut on antiroll bar at front. Tightened nut, no further problems.
  6. Does this only happen on auto's or are manuals also affected?
  7. If they were standard that would be great but as of this moment they are a $3000 option. The PBR brakes are alot cheeper and do the same job. So in my opinion why go ford when you can get the same thing cheeper else where?
  8. Ha people, Just had the PBR brakes fitted today. Must say I think they are a very impressive bit of equipment. Got to have a quick peek while the wheels where still off and when the old rotors are held up against the PBR's the difference is huge. Looks like the calipers only just fit under my 17's and I think the big red calipers look the buisness. Havn't had a chance to really try them out as per yet but as soon as their fully bedded in ill take em for a run down the gillies. A big thanks to BCR01 for oganising everything for me. Very prompt delivery, great service, excellent price and a great bloke. Couldn't be more highly reccomended.
  9. Heres some from a mates wedding along with another option to the traditional hood aunaments.
  10. Mabey if you stick in a hot chick with voluptuous melons it might grow a bit.
  11. You could always get the PBR upgrade for around $2000 which is suppost to give similar results to the performance brakes. Also if your getting the lux pack, I would highly reccoment the sports steering wheel. Feels much better than the standard and looks the buisness with the sports leather. And get the dealer to check price of the lux pack again. When I got mine there was a different price for the lux pack in the turbo compard with NA cars because the lux pack included rear power windows and LSD on NA and they come standard on the turbo. My dealer f*cked up and tried to charge me the NA price. Just some stuff to think about but its like 1.30am and I can't sleep so prehaps I could be wrong.

    Dent Repair

Arr... Yes, that bit was a joke. Perhaps to subtle. He said that it wouldn't be possible to do the suck thing.
  13. I heard she said she was just giving the boy a practical demonstration for sex ed. The poor kid was a slow learner so se had to repeat the lesson 5 more times. She wasn't completely let off, she has a serious sexual offence conviction against her name and can never work in her profession or any other profession which involves minors again.

    Dent Repair

Damb got me all excited there for a minute turbo6. Good to see someone else out there has a mind as disturbed as mine. Anyway visited the local panal beater up here (Atherton) he said it could be fixed no problems for $350. When I inquired about the suck and massage he said that he may be able to drop the price by $50 bucks .

I'm intrigued by this suck and massage idea. Do you have anyone good you could refer me to.

    Dent Repair

Had a little cry when I got back to the car today. Got about halfway across the road before I sore a fairly sizable stick on the roof of my car, looked up and sure enough see a rather large tree. Now I'm no detective but my rather slight reasons of deductions lead my to think... yep that stick has probably fallen from that rather large tree onto my beautiful, untainted precious. And to top it off some f***n bird seems to have perched itself on this stick and spent the day ing on my car. Now the I can handle myself. But does anyone know if theirs a way to remove a small dent (very small, looks like hail damage, no loss of paint) from the roof.
  17. Sorry flukeyluke, I live on the opposite side of the east coast. North Qld. Think I'll give it a crack sometime when I have a spare weekend to kill. Let ya know how the car pulls through.
  18. Know its an old thread but was just wondering whats the worst that could happen if I gave this a go and stuffed up. Would I just be up for new switches or could you stuff something major in the car? Just wondering because I'm can solder and can follow directions but am not electronically minded. Thanks, Xr6tBug

    Leaking car..

I read in the owners manual that if you spray high pressure water into the LHS grill thing just in front of the windscreen that it can put water into the air vents on that side. Xr6 typhoon - funny sh*t. :D
  20. Yep, pretty sure its mandrel bent. Somebody already asked if it was mandrel bent or not. I forgot to reply hence the sorry.
  21. Sorry Turbo6. Came prefabricated, bolt on, mandrel bent.
  22. Just got back from Carline. They took off the rear muffler to let me have an idea what it would be like. Faaark!!! Sounded unreal. Floor the peddle and the car roared to life, lift off and quickly down through the gears with the a beautiful symphony of pop's and burbles from the rear end. Back on Saturday to have the thing removed and a straight 3" shoved in. Just hope it doesn't drown with the pipe in place. Anyone know how to post an audio file.
  23. Ha Vik, I asked the same question to the exhaust guy. 2*2.25 is bigger then a single 3" but he said something similar to turbo6. Less surface area with better flow or some sh*t. He's ment to be the expert and I readily admit I know bugger all about this stuff. I havn't had the car dyno'd but it definatly doesn't feel any less powerful but I wouldn't say it feels any more powerful either, just sounds better and that was the idea. Car already has enough power for me, just wanted it to sound as good as it feels.
  24. Had a 3" Exhaust fitered on Saturday. Was just after a change in note but none of the exhaust shops up here (Cairns or Atherton) wanted to play with the center muffler removal idea (I went to four). I am happy with the note but would like it just a little louder. Going back tomorrow to have the rear muffler removed to check out how that sounds. I must admit that finally being able to hear a bit of grunt from the exhaust while giving the throttle a tap when offering the beast a little heal-toe action makes the driving experience much more pleasurable (also stops my mates fiance asking if the car is solar powered ). Cost was $750 fitted. Anyone else tryed this option? What are your thoughts on 3" systems? I'll try to post an audio file once I get back from Carline tomorrow. Happy driving, Xr6tBug.
  25. Mine has just started to do something very similar. Every now and then when I start it up first thing in the morning, back out of the drive way and just as I hit the road the rev's go ape sh*t (I.e. large variation in rev's and very rough idle). It feel like it almost stalls then the revs go up and the same happens repeatedly. I turn the car off and then restart and it's all good. Very strange. Will be ringing the dealler tomorrow.
