Oh, and I personally think you'd be silyl to pass up a BA2 F6 for a BF XR!!! F6 is alot better experience.
-
I was looking at BF F6s but manual ones are so much more than BA2s... it really can't be justified IMO - a bit better brakes and a bodykit for $10K? no thanks. My decision was also helped by the fact that I was lucky to get my car about $5K cheaper than any other low K ba2 F6 on the market at the time due to the circumstances of the seller. Btw my car has no creaks or rattles, or anything wrong with the way it has operated at all when considering factory parts/systems. Ive driven BF F6s and there is no difference in driving experience other than brakes that makes them worth it. (Obviously they look newer!) So to sum up - would I rather a BF? Ofcourse. Is it worth the extra money they are asking atm? Nup. I'm actually surprised they are still asking so much... prices on BA2s have dropped about $5K in the last year but the BFs asking prices (manuals) haven't dropped at all on average. Venom

I got mine when I was 22, 04 fpv f6, put a Nizpro stage 2 kit on it (at the time [now up to stage 3]) and went with Just Car Insurance. I have had no problems, and with the Adjustable Excess on their policy, and with a rating one, its not very expensive for me to have a highly modded vehicle - only just over $100 more than insuring it stock. they wont give me choice of repairer for any body/physical damage, but I dont really care coz its just a taxi shell at the end of the day so 99.9% of repairers will do a great job, and because Nizpro are 'the only shop who can get my engine running' they will let me get all power associated work done there. Jp300 - Picked Up New Fg Xr6T
Venom XR Turbo replied to JP300's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
ide have to mod it straight away! when I first picked up my Typhoon I planned my route home via HPF, Pit Lane Performance and Nizpro to shop for a tuner and organise mods! How do you find the manual shifter? I found it OK in the fg F6 (ive only driven the auto in xr6t), but my Dad's fg XR8 manual is the worst ive ever driven - slow clucky and huge bang from the diff if you are 1% inaccurate on changes. . it'd be great to see a fast manual out there stickin it to these boring auto guys haha Venom -

When stock, I was bored after booting through the gears the first time... barely any sound (and its not exactly an exciting sound if any!) and a boring linear power curve with lag. I was the same with first mods - at 306rwkw it felt boring after my first hour with that power! They are a very heavy car, and 500ish engine HP just isn't that much anymore. Its enough to pull the car strongly, but for my mind is certainly not thrilling. I reckon mine felt nice with 363rwkw at first, but feels about right for the street with 395rwkw now. Most people I talk to say the 400 mark is a good power for the street and most occasions we get to drive enthusiastically.. In saying that, I could handle ALOT more - on big open roads in 4th, 5th and 6th it really doesnt feel excitingly fast at all. I know its pulling like a freight train, which I can see by the speedo needle flying around, but I just want it to go like it has a rocket stuck up its arse haha basically I think I NEED a nizpro stage 5 set up! I don't think I came across clearly in my last post. To clarify, what I meant is this- Since the GT and F6 are so close in performance in the real world, I would opt for the one that was the most fun to drive. The GT sounds so much better (you cant even hear the F6!) and feels more manly to drive and to punt through a corner. Yes the F6 is more nimble and a bit quicker - but this extra performance you will only use 0.00001% of your driving life (and that's if you ever even take your F6 beyond the limits that a GT could withhold on the road). that's why if I were to leave em stock, ide take the GT - 95% of the performance of an F6, but 120% of the fun. And that's all without considering a 25% discount for the GT! To rspecf6: Sorry you don't agree, but I do consider both of them boring and slow in a straight line in factory stock guise. They get along and up to speed swiftly, but are definitely not adrenaline pumping at all for me in the straight line performance department. At least with the 8 you have noise! In saying all this... throw the option of modding back into the equation... well you all know what I went for when in the same scenario with earlier models! Cheers, Venom

the FG GT is a boring slug in a straight line... but then so is an F6... just a little bit less of a slug. The F6 is alot more boring in a straight line though - no sweet soul sounds. The GT has a more manly feel and note ( and hump and rear spoiler!) that would make me buy it if they were left stock. and at 17K savings its a no brainer. if it wasnt for the discount, however and you are gonna mod it, I would go F6 and get it to at least 350rwkw (ala Nizpro FG Stage 2)...
