Umm, there are two hinges and two latches, that's it, where's this $800 part go? And FOrd don't fit them at the factory, they are all done in PD. When I bought mine, I asked every dealer if they could build the car with the lugs removed at the factory, and they all said no, they tried that once and it was too costly, so they are all fitted in Pre Delivery. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ford do fit them from factory! IT IS A FACTORY OPTION. The way to tell is: If it has just the two hinges at the front, it is a PD fit. If it has a 1 piece aluminium plate at the front of the tub, it is a FACTORY FIT. And also, if you request it, Ford CAN put the lugs in. We have a Rapid XR6T in at work at the moment if you require proof. You obviously didn't ask the right dealer. It may indeed cost more to get it fitted at the factory, I dont know, but they do a much better job than the PD team ever will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And would I be right to assume if you tick the option as a factory fit, the money goes direct to FoMoCo? If you get a dealer fit the money goes to the dealer? If this is a correct assumption, of course they are going to tell you that they need to fit it. I believe this is why my towpack swapped from a Factory fit to a Dealer Fit.

My old man also has a Honda Accord Euro. For a bum dragger, its a great car. It all over the Mazda 6 too. As far as modding it, he could spend $10K on it and it won't run side-by-side with a T. He had the choice of a fast car or a grandad car, he made his choice...

I would have thought it would be difficult to slot the twin turbo between the V6 and the V8. I thought a TT would kill the 8. :noexpression:

Are you involved in police forensics or a gravedigger? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You don't need to be in forensics to go to the scene. You know who calls them (if they're needed - very rare) 'cos he's first on scene? Uh huh, that's right.

Ah, good! This thread was about what benefits may arise. I have a cracked fog light. Do you get staff discount? If my mammory serves me correctly you're in Vic too!

BUYER - "Can I take it for a test drive?" KNOB - "Er, no, it has no wheels." BUYER - "So you want me to give you $70,000 for a car I can't test drive and you are clearly not happy with?" KNOB - "Yes." BUYER - "Sounds fair, do you take cheque made out to cash?"

I think the monkey might get spanked if Mummy or Daddy tiger turned up and got serious. The two he was playing with look very young.

I gotta say I'm a fan of the paper chick up there. She looks like a brunette version of Silvia Saint (who I don't think I would want to copulate with. After her career, it may be like "throwing a hotdog down a corridor", so to speak).

I have a confession to make... I made it up. Learned how to talk BS at a young age by being schooled through the public system. I have no idea about anything to do with that watch other than I'd buy it if it came in a box like that!
-
I just had another look at the picture; did you guys notice there's a woman with hardly any clothes on there?

That watch is an Omega STP-2412. It includes gold highlighting, swiss movement, 6 point self-adjustable band, a 7 year battary life and also sub-functions of a timer/stopwatch. It can be had from any good jeweller for approximately $600-$700. A remarkable time piece that could well become a family heirloom to whomever decided to invest in one. Over all, very good choice for the decerning chronograph wearer.

Just picked the car up from service. Had a new radiator, new diff ordered, new driver's side window switch. Also the usual items that are done in a service. And WOW does it go. Got me thinking about the whole "flash" thing on the way home. Told my brother as soon as I got home about home much better it felt. FIrst thing he said was "It always feels better after a service." And he's right. It doesn't feel like a new car, it feels like a car that's been serviced. For my 2c worth, I think a lot of what is happening is in people's minds....

Hmmm... I don't really follow the price of cars I couldn't afford even if I sold my mother, so, is that a cheap price (allowing $4,000~ for genuine wheels through a dealer) or is it too dear? Seems expensive to me.

I dropped my car in for a service today and asked about the "anti-overboost flash". The guy there was staright out, he'd read or heard about how turbo owners weren't happy and said he could understand, but he also explained it to me. The flash does not go on all cars. It only goes on cars between a certain date, he wasn't sure what the dates were, but my August 03 was not affected. He said the works order that is pre-printed out when my car is brought in for service would be marked if it was to get the reflash. He also said the reflash was because some vehicles were operating beyond the usual 6 pound of boost that the motor was designed to operate at, therefor affecting all other driveline components, and hence the reason why Ford was going to have to fix it, to stop it damaging the rest of the car. He also said that in severe cases it may cause damage to the engine as it was boosting beyond what the internals of the engine were designed to handle. I don't know if this is a load of horse-shi* or not. So basically, it seems that there were a small number of cars that came out of the factory with better than normal performance, and Ford is bringing them into line with other vehicles. So it would seem logical that some people have suffered power loss, others may have benefitted from a flash. Is it possible that the answer is so simple? (ie an unofficial recall)

Just put my car in for the 45K service. I got a phone call from the lease company as I got home, my account is $$$$ in the negative from all the tyres that my car has destroyed (about 10 in 18 months - just through bad luck, one was only 187kms old and the inner sidewall split 3/4 of the way around the tyre) and the increased price of petrol. Looks like a fun ute is off the cards for a while, so it looks liek an AU Marlin or SE ute could be the way to go. There is going to be a considerable increase in payments on my car, so less money to waste all 'round. Bugger.
-
I have a novated lease. Its not because public servants in my position earn over $60K either. I did it because its simple. The car was cheap (I got it for $42K when the next cheapest quote at the time, July '03, was $53K). All expenses for the car are paid for. Everything you could imagine that is an expense you incur to drive a car is covered, other than insurance excess. As long as you make the minimum kms, I have found it ok, but it is also expensive for someone on my humble wage.

Which dealer? Also, does it affect the strength of the gearbox?

Link has expired or something. I wanted to keep up to date with this one!

How does a short shift kit work? Also, I realise what some of the benefits are likely to be, but what are the potential downsides? If it made the box feel tighter and have a shorter throw Ford would put it in every car (and I'd have had one in my ex-girlfriend), so what's the negative? Keep in mind I am clearly not a mechanic!

This is the thread for all things FPV, so, what do we all think? In my humble opinion, decent 4 cylinders have a place. As long as they are not just suspension and bodykit specials like the FTE Cougar . The talk of a High/Low range, diesel Territory has caused heart palpitations as well. Dare I say it, Ford looks like they may be taking some market initative?

FPV eyes four cylinder trade Mark Hinchliffe 07may05 Hot four-cylinder rockets could be the next step for Ford Performance Vehicles. The company already has broken from the V8-only policy of rival Expensive Daewoo Special Vehicles with the release of the six-cylinder turbocharged Typhoon and Tornado ute. And while the company acknowledges it does not have the breadth of HSV's line-up, FPV does not intend to mirror HSV models, nor be constrained in what it produces. The policy seems to be paying off with managing director David Flint announcing that in sales figures for directly competing models, FPV has logged "significant records since December with four straight months ahead of HSV, if only by one unit in March. "There is a strong acceptance of the Mk II GT and GT-P," he said. "We've got ourselves to a very strong position in the market place. "The Super Pursuit was launched this year to stretch the model range a little wider and to face off with our competitor. It's been a success for us." Flint said the F6 clutch crisis in which sales were stopped for three months while a replacement clutch was designed and built after the original failed, had not delayed any other product programs. "We are on target for any new program," he said. However, while he wouldn't give away any details of future products, he said they were looking at a range of vehicles and he did not have a personal favourite. "That's not how you run a car manufacturing business. We have to give customers what they want, not what I want," he said. Flint did say they were considering all options such as hot mods on the Focus and Festiva and all-wheel-drive versions of the current range. This would also open up FPV to doing a version of the highly successful Territory SUV. Ford chief Tom Gorman has already talked about a possible turbocharged Territory. "Whether it is a Ford or FPV that is a decision later," Gorman said. "There is no conclusion on that yet. "Our brand (FPV) is recognised very much as a performance range of vehicles. "There is a place for us to extend that further and Territory is an obvious choice." He said Ford was also considering a diesel variant and a "proper off-road" four-wheel-drive version of the Territory with a low range. "The vehicle is very successful at the moment. We've done a good job of satisfying the customer and there are not many things the customer is not happy with." Gorman said the first studies of customer satisfaction with the Territory were being conducted and results would be available soon. "If we do anything with the Territory, it will be incremental," he said. FPV marketing and sales manager Roger Gray said there had been a lot of interest in an FPV Territory. "As much from dealers as anyone. They look at the fundamental acceptance of Territory," Gray said. "There has also been a lot of interest in doing something with a four-cylinder, such as Focus or Festiva. "A four-cylinder would appeal to a customer we are not dealing with at the moment; people who view technology as important. "There is a strong aftermarket business in four-cylinder cars in the past few years. It's a market we could easily leap into." Gray said it was important they extended their range, but differentiated their products from HSV. "We don't intend to be another HSV. We always intended to be about more than just V8s. "The Tornado broadened our product portfolio. It was our first turbo, too. It means we can talk to a new range of customers, a younger buyer, so it also broadens our demographic. It's not a big volume, but it does allow us to extend." The Courier-Mail As taken from CarsGuide

Yeah, I'm tipping he'll do that again soon!
