  1. The exhaust is quite quiet actually. But yes (in an Auto) if you change back with the SSS it will "burble". I understand that the exhaust is the same one used in the XR8, but of course it sounds different. It's a twin system (maybe 1 and 3/4 inch each in diamiter??). You can hear the exhaust inside the car but it's in no way intrusive, to be honest, I'd like to change my to get it sounding a little louder (not much just a little, I'm married you see  )
  2. What happened here? Is anyone else interested? When was it going to be planed?
  3. I had a Fairlane, and after 30-40 minutes of the AC running it used to spray little bits of ice out... as you can imagine...it was quite cold, especially when some when down the neck part of your shirt :D
  4. Is your car an Auto or Manual? Just curious
  5. I understood that the delay on the Auto was due to the bellhousing not matching the Boss 260/290 not the torque limit?
  6. What I love about the colour is how it speaks so loud like.. :w00t: "HELLO LOOK AT ME, I"M THE NEW BA XR6... OH DID I FORGET... I"M TURBO'ED TOO"
  7. Yep, very interested... Let me know when, and I can give you a yay, or nay Thanks
  8. For starters, the Ford boys would have to lose the Polo Shirts, and go with the flannies, also forget about the Crownies, bring on the VB... by the keg! and also they'd all have to find the cheapest Winny Reds they could find, or at least find the closest tobacco dealer where they could roll their own  Just joking ok... :D
  9. Ok this IS what happens... SSS - Full Manual, won't change for you...however... if you forget you are driving in Manual Mode, say coming to a corner (driving in 4th, and don't change back down), after you have been driving for quite some time, and then plant your foot once you exit the corner, it will revert back to Auto, a "D" symbol will flash in the LCD. This only happens after an extended time of driving (maybe 5 minutes), so if you say drive to the end of the street (in Manual Mode) , slow down without touching the gears (from 4th), then plant your foot it won't revert back to "Drive" you'll know if it does this as the "D" will flash straight away, and it only does this if the push your foot down hard and fast. Hope this clears it up.

    Owners Only

Went from an AU XR8 200kW, which I didn't have to many complaints about, to the XR6T. Besides the less response from the bottom end (coming from a V8) this car is great, SSS has got to be the best part of it You'll love it I'm sure. What cars have you been driving in the past?
  11. The problem is, and I think due to the low compression, that low down power is not really there either. Yeah ok, you get the power above 2500, but need to change at 5500 to keep it in the torque range. I think based on the comments so far that any mods to this car, including Turbo etc, should probably be focused on low rpm, rather than high? Which would probably mean leave the turbo and boost alone??
  12. Paint protection is good, the dirt comes off most times with just a hose down! I think the quote you have is pretty pricey though. Mine cost about half that for Paint Protection, Rust Protection/Sound Proofing, and Fabric Protection
  13. It's not a fixed rev limit, and that's the problem... the bloody thing just sneaks up on you while you have a huge G-Force grin on your face, thinking ... *just a little more.. just a little more... whoops to far*
  14. It would be very dissapointing if the GT is unable to kick the XR6T's butt (and HSV at the same time of course) Glad I have the XR6T! (and to think a guy was selling his XR6T for an XR8, I hope he has some mods in mind, it would otherwise be a bit dissapointing)
  15. Now that I have a little over 5000k's on the car I've let it rev out a couple of times. What I have noticed is that the damn thing just keeps pulling!! In all, and I mean ALL of my previous cars (Non-Turbo's) I have always noticed the power peak, and you can change gears before the redline... but this thing is totally different What is a pain is having no visible redline, or power plateau at the higher revs. what I've noticed is it pulls, and pulls, and just as your about to change gears, you realise you have left it 5ms to late and the rev limiter comes on nearly throwing you through the front windscreen, by which time you have changed to the next gear playing the game all over again What is everyone's thoughts on the rev limiter, and what method do you use to change gears at the right time (SSS or Manual)
  16. I would have seriously "vented" once I was out of the car! Hopefully you get the gaurd replaced not just banged straight and bogged
  17. What results have you got from this? Are you driving an XR6T now?
  18. I say it's a bit steep, a dyno run shouldn't be any more than $100 (maybe $60 during NSW Tickford/FPV club event) and 1/4 mile run at Eastern Creek I think is about 45 bucks But if you do buy it, can I borrow it :D please
  19. My experience was, that at speeds above 70k's when the disks are warm, it slightly pulled the steering wheel left to right when breaking lightly. The longer I kept my foot on the break the worse it was
  20. Yes I believe this would be the case. I'd be surprised if it was a twin turbo but. Supercharged yes, I'd say is a real possibility I did read (somewhere) that the new HFV6 was going to be about 200kw standard, but someone may be able to add more detail to this.
  21. Lock up comes on in SSS (3rd & 4th), it seems to drop revs by between 200-500rpm
  22. The sad thing is that I haven't really had the need to slam them on at any point, or go down any real steep hills, so normal driving has done this... this is not good, and don't worry, it's on the report so they will be replaced!
  23. I agree, my were just machined at 4500kms... we'll see what happens
  24. The really cool (term used loosely) kids had calculator watches... I always wanted to be a geek.... anyway I saw a Taxi driver with one the other day.... Taxi Driver: "That'll be $18:50 Thanks" Me: *Hand him Cab Charge Card* Taxi Driver: *face 2cm from wrist and muffles* "Hang on a second I'll work out your change" Me: *Groans* I guess he choose woodwork over math's at school Anyway, bring back Agro!
  25. I find the torque converter comes on in 3rd as well as 4th (but not 2nd or 1st of course)
