  1. It's normally $150, but cheaper if you are in a group. If your thinking about going let me know. I'll go again soon, once I know what's happening with my brakes
  2. With company cars like that... I'll resign tomorrow... don't care about the job, but my package must include a company car (XR8, I have my own XR6T, but I'm not greedy :D ) Where do I sign
  3. 2 words.... Lucky Bugger
  4. Standard Brakes
  5. At bend 1 (180km/h)
  6. Another one, sorry for the quality again, but taking a picture at the end of the straight at 180km/h is very hard...just ask my wife
  7. These are not great, but you'll get the picture (no pun intended)
  8. It was a drive day yesterday... high 20 degree's, it was a gorgeous day. The track was warm, only about 10 cars out there, and two groups. I have a couple of GTR & GTS mates who I go out with. It was the first time they saw the XR6T and was very impressed. Oh, and not knowing much about Turbo's (coming from a V8) they say, wow, that is one hell of a Turbo. So I guess that's good! Anyway, this is what you really want to know. First off let me say the highest I rev'ed the car was about 5000-5500, and no hard breaking, I actually took it fairly easy all day. first off, I WAS IMPRESSED! This cars goes very hard on the track. It handles like nothing I have ever driven, and sticks to the road. The tires, as standard, are great. And didn't really start to go off until about 5-6 laps into it. This car pulled as hard as a mod'ed GTS (165kw at the wheels) and handles better. This was coming from the guys themselves, not me! The SSS is a great choice on the track. I was basically driving 2nd and 3rd gear, and slipped it into 4th on the straight. Ok the straight ... I know you want to know... I can sense it.. Sorry guys I was not there to break any land speed records... so at 1/4 way down the straight I hit 180km/h and lifted my foot. The way this thing was pulling I can say with all confidence that it would have hit at least 200km/h. Anyway I was there for the corners, take off out the corners, and breaking into the corners... Now the corners. The XR6T is very well balanced. Forget the AU XR8, with it's understeer into the corners, and oversteer out off the corners, the XR6T comes in smooth, and leaves smooth. Yeah sure, come in too quick and you get understeer, and leave too aggressive and you'll get oversteer, but this thing tends to slide on or fours, rather than oversteer. It's very reassuring, and gave me plenty of confidence to hit it harder. As a comparison, my mate in his ~230kw GTR (Computer blown up so that's why its only 230kw), with a few mod's was just in front of me, while we were going at the same speed he slid out and keep on sliding straight into the dirt, the ol XR6T didn't even think about sliding. Over all the package is pretty good. BUT And this is a big BUT. The breaks are CRAP! and I mean it, CRAP! After 3 corners the breaks were stuffed. Not soft, but WARPED!!! As once these piece of sh*t breaks are hot they warp straight away. Now I was NOT breaking hard, I mean NOT at all breaking hard, and they had sh*t them selves. The old AU XR8 breaks never ever shuddered like this. by 3 laps it felt like ABS (obviously I was not locking the wheels up) Once they cooled down everything was fine. These are a big problem, as people have discovered, but the biggest worry is, if you are traveling down a steep hill, with a few bends, I would take it very, very slow. My dealer will hear from me today, and they will be replaced! The other small gripe was power loss on one of the laps. nothing huge, and I think this was ambient temperature related. It just seemed not to pull as hard. I think if you were going to drive these things hard, and often, and with track temps about 30'C I think a bigger intercooler would be one of the first things on my list of things to buy/upgrade Anyway, other than that, it was a great day, and I recommend it to anyone. I think you will be surprised how the XR6T handles. Oh, almost forgot Stopwatched fastest time in the AU XR8 was 2:13 (not flogging the daylights out it), but the XR6T, without breaking into corners, just using gears, pulled a 2:10. I know there could be a few seconds error, but had I had the XR8 breaks I'd be sure to see 2:07, or less! And just to leave on a positive note, a great guy, and owner of a business call Bogan special , who is a mechanic, and loves working on Fords, and does a damn good job too (made the XR8 go hard for me) was there on the day. He hadn't yet had the pleasure of being in an XR6T, so I thought, jump in and then you can tell me your thoughts. Well I thought he was going to blow his load all over my dash. This guys loves his V8's, but could barely contain himself about the performance of this car. This guys has driven heaps of fast cars, has his cam licence, and know the track.... the XR6T got the thumbs up, big time (however he did say get rid of those breaks... no surprise there!) I'll post a few pic's
  9. My God... that's all I can say... I AM STOKED!
  10. A mate knows a guy who knows another guy who works in MoTec.... you know the story... that's why I'm a little skeptical
  11. I've heard that MoteC are testing a product to be used in the XR6T, and at this stage they have increased the boost to 14 PSI and immediately destroyed the motor. Apparently broke a rod? I'm not sure I believe this? Has anyone heard of this?
  12. I think they are twin 57mm, mandral bend.. can anyone confirm this?
  13. Don't know about 90km/h, 70-80 max, I think is probably more realistic in real driving conditions. Either way, your right in suggesting that 1st gear has legs! :D I love the SSS, and I know I say it every time (Just to stir up the die hard, can't be converted Manual owners... it's all in good fun )
  14. Can you believe this!!! After a trip down the coast (From Woy Woy to Nowra) and back. Giving the car a few squirts through the City, Wollongong, and Nowra I managed an 11.4l/100km! (at 6000km) Can you believe it... Now something is going on here, because I had my car in at Ford Thursday before the weekend, and I have done this trip before, but usually get around the 13 mark (at 5000km, and I've actually never be below 12!) Anyway, I did notice that at idle (when the car is warm) is telling me I'm using around 1.7- 2ltrs per hour, but before this went into ford it was 1ltr per hour. (So this has gone up, but the driving fuel consumption has gone down???) Any comments would be great
  15. In an Auto, the wheels wont spin off the mark (on a good dry road), so it make no difference. Sure you may be able to drop the clutch in a Manual, and find Traction control helps?? But I'd say the take off would then be slower anyway? (I don't have a Manual so I'm just speculating)
  16. Yep Traction control for sure... if the wheels spin a little bit you won't really notice anything, maybe just the light flicker, but if it's say in the wet (or coming out of a roundabout full throttle  ) the motor will sound, and run, very strange. The first time it happened to me I thought I had broken something in the motor. It's used to limit torque. Going around a long corner yesterday in the rain, and just squeezing the throttle a bit, the back end starting to move sideways, and before I even reacted by lifting my foot, it had engaged traction control and kept me on the line. The traction control is very smart, and quick (oh it didn't reduce torque from the motor this time when it came on)

    G'day

June!!! My god.... The wait should be worth it... Welcome anyway
  18. 22nd is still good for me. What time is it expected to start. I assume 9am... is that right?
  19. Try doing this in a crowded office while listening to ABBA..... you will be whisked away in a white jacket with long sleeves faster than you can say...."My god DTS is dead, bring on 3D Audio"
  20. I'm a BDM for a Global Telecommunications Company, basically selling, designing IP solutions for Corporates and ISP's. So.... if you are an IT Manager in a large corporate company (Like Coca Cola), or an ISP, or even someone with large IP/Internet requirments I'd be happy to help.... the more commision I get the quicker I can do some mods, and the quicker I can post them here... see win-win :D Oh, and my company is not in Chapter 11!!!
  21. Don't ask me why, but my fuel consumption is worse now (after 5000kms) than it was early on. Sure I'm giving it a little bit more throttle now, but the difference is about 12.5 at the start, to at least 14, 15 and higher a tank now (about the same mix of driving; city with some freeway) This is more than my old windsor 5ltr AU XR8!!!! I'm not impressed actually
  22. Can I ask a serious question here. All this talk about increasing power, are we all seriously going to do this, or are we just dreaming. I'm hearing a lot of figures thrown around, but not many people doing what they are talking about. I'm not saying it's wrong to dream, but come on guys show me a 450kw XR6T and fark I'll be impressed, and of course then want to know how! But until then...
  23. Repco have them for the BA. The thread I think is the same as the AU. Just ask the guy if you can try one. I have them on mine now (I didn't get factory ones :( )
  24. Ok, when we quote Dyno figures, I'm sure we all assume about a 5% variation, but are these Auto's or Manual's that have been Dynoed so far, and also what is the expected difference between an Auto and Manual, does anyone know?
