  1. If we can't trust what you say and you're telling us not to trust you then doesn't that me we can trust what you say? Yeah... trust me... I'm an Engineer!!!  "You gotta trust him, his edumacated like I is"
  2. When it rained, my XR8 boot lid would pour water into the inside of the boot when I opened it... now this is happening with the XR6T... this is a big problem...!! I'm not talking just a couple of drips here either, I'm talking a small glass of water... the problem is the inside of the boot is then wet, and I have to leave it up on the first dry day just to get the moist air smell out of it Anyone else noticed this?
  3. I'm not a big fan of red..but, that photo is great. I don't know why, but maybe the right light makes it look heaps better... I was never keen on the colour in the showroom, but on the grass it looks great!
  4. My wife was actually parked next to a Blueprint Turbo at the shops at Woy Woy on the weekend. So there is another one running around, unless it yours??
  5. Maybe it's 17% for a racing gearbox??? we are talking about a mass produced ford Auto or Manual here with tolerances expected to be much larger... but I'm a Telecommunications Engineer, not a Mechanical Engineer, so really I would trust a word I say :D
  6. My XR6T has around 2000km on the clock, the first tank ran at 12.1ltrs/100km, and now it runs about 12.5-13.5 (My foot is being pressed down a little firmer now). To Clarify these figures, they are not off the computer.. I find the computer to be about 0.8ltrs higher then the actual. Also this driving was a mix of city and hwy
  7. I haven't noticed any problems at all. I drove out west over Christmas, and it was really hot! The only thing I noticed is that the Thermo fans seem to come on quite a bit, and also while driving.. but I think that was more to do with the AC being on most of the time. No Power loss at all
  8. CJF, Did you get the exhaust done all the way from the outlet of the turbo, or after the Cat... I ask because you said it cost $3000, and behind the Cat I've been quoted about $650, and in front about $1100-$1200...(3 1/2") What's the go with your exhaust... just curious Thanks
  9. It will break traction, depending on the road surface, higher up the rev range, but that is normally if I'm truning a little. But if I stop, and and plant it (straight line) it doesn't even look like it would break traction, and doesn't really feel like it has the power down low to do it either. Anyone one else have comments with regards to this (Auto only)
  10. Has this car been lowered, or is it just the 19" rims that make it look that way?? And what's under the bonnet???
  11. Is this a Manual or Auto... I was actually told 35% for an Auto...???
  12. The XR6T is quicker than my previous 200kW AU XR8, however, you will notice a big difference in bottom end grunt, up to about 20kph... but then whoosh..off you go. It is a little disappointing, but once you take off you forget about the lag, and I don't care what anyone says.. there is lag, and it's very noticeable. Maybe not compared to other Turbo's but coming from a V8 you can feel the difference big time. All you have to remember is it's just a different power curve to a V8. No wheel spin if you plant your foot in the Auto, but in my old XR8, it would do it every time. This could be a suspension thing also??
  13. I'll be leaving Gosford at about 9, if anyone is coming down from the coast let me know, happy to meet you at the top before the turn off to the Old Pacific Hwy
  14. So assuming all this, and as I said, I'm sure this sounds really dumb... but you could say that working this all backwards the 4ltr would be something like 5.6 ltrs. Why I'm asking all this is because my Dad is from the "old" school of motors and he has his V8 and keeps telling me the XR6T is only a 4 ltr, and doesn't understand how Turbo's work... At least I can now use this as an example when I try to explain it again :banghead: Thanks Guys
  15. Day Trip up the Old Pacific Hwy on the 11th Jan. Meet at the old toll gates Berowra at 10am (just follow the Pacific Hwy from Hornsby, you can't miss it). Then, no later than 10:30, make our way to Terrigal for lunch. (Should be at Terrigal no later than 11:30) NSW Tickford Club Members should join in to So now, who's coming?? B)
  16. This is going to sound really dumb. Given that the car is a 4 ltr (as a NA) and you compress air into the piston chamber at 6 PSI, what would the otherwise volume of the engine be??? Is 6 PSI twice the amount of air volume, 3 times, 4 times???? :o I hope I make sense here :o
  17. Warm, my tyres read 45psi..my god!!! :o is this bad???
  18. Hows the 11th or 18th of Jan sound?? Any takers for one of these dates?? Also, I'd like to extend the offer to the NSW XR Club... what do you all think?? Should we set up a special topic thing for Website/Club Events and post there???
  19. Yep it's me, got rid of the XR8, and now have this beast... anyway, I just yelled out "Hi" to Mandy for ya, and she says "Tell her I said Hi too"
  20. I live up on the Central Coast and thought you guys might be interested in a day trip, say meet a Berowra, and drive up the old Pacific Hwy to the Central Coast, have a bit of lunch (fish and chips of course) and then drive back. The speed limit is 70 most of the way, and you don't need to break the spped limit to enjoy yourself. This is a great drive, and I've driving up and down this road while the XR6T has been running in Who'd be interested???
  21. My brother has an VT SS and he is able to access more info from the computer by holding down a few buttons, anyway, are we able to do something like this to look at the temp of the turbo, or even the air temp.... or of course is there something that can be fitted to measure this??
  22. Have you guys noticed how long the engine stays hot after it's switched off!! After about 2 hours of it sitting in the driveway, not running of course, I thought I check the engine oil, water etc, and make sure everything is still ok. Anyway the engine was still quite hot. It was driven very easy before it was switched off (as it's still very young) I remember back when I owned a Nissan TRX (non-turbo), and the thermo fan would start up about a minute after switching the car off. This doesn't happen with the XR6T. Should it?? Also, should you really shut it down staight away, a mate has a Nissan GTR and said it should have some sort of cooling after being switch off Any comments
  23. Their names weren't Gazza and John'o were they
  24. Just curious about how many XR6T's have been delivered? If I was to guess I'd say less than 40, but this is probably way off Does anyone know, or can have an educated guess. Also, does the SIDO tell build, or build number, or is the SIDO for all fords, not just XR6T's
  25. Mr Plow, just something to think about, and add to your stats.... maybe the rate of memberships is in direct proportion to the rate of post to this thread, which talks about the rate of new memberships??? can you graph the frequencey of posts against the rate of new members and see if we have something intrersting here.. :D
