  1. I couldn't justify spending sh*t loads of cash, maybe a couple of thousand dollars max, I don't know. I can get a 3" exhaust from the back of the cats to the tip (in stainless) for $650, would that improve top end (high revs) or bottom?? But then again I've never had a Turbo, so maybe I'm expecting to much??
  2. Coming from a V8 I miss the bottom end power... can anyone suggest changes to help get the XR6T's bottom end power up a bit.. type of exhaust etc???
  3. If by screwing the people around you, just to make a quick buck, is the best way to make some money maybe it would be best for those people to take themselves into a room full of mirrors, flop it out, slap it with a cold spoon and take a long hard look at themselves... because they are a joke!
  4. The Old Pacific Hwy is mostly only 1 lane the whole way, which makes overtaking very tricky. Apart from the above mentioned cars (which couldn't have pulled a greasy stick from a dogs arse) it was well worth it
  5. Do I have to answer in this thread, or an I exempt?? :D
  6. If you go to the RTA site (NSW) you are able to do an online search for a custom plate, which makes it very easy to just buy a whole heap then start selling them straight away! Disgraceful IMO!
  7. This is more of a statement then anything else.... What S*its me is that people go place orders on custom number plates just so they are able to re-sell the damn things!! I looked the other night for a number plate for my XR6T, and did find a combination that suited me, however most were taken... And I'd have a guess and say that you'll find them advertised in places like this website and the TradingPost..... I feel strongly about stopping people profiteering this way... If they are collected, and sold for the cost price fair enough, but it's simply wrong IMO, to buy them just to sell them!
  8. OK... it's tomorrow! 10:30am, leave at 11am. If it's raining I'm still going, but will probably not have lunch at the beach for obvious reasons! We have these people going.... anyone else? 9. It's kinda sad that the XR's don't wear the FPV badge... I miss the the Tickford badge on the old AU XR8. If I can get my hands on a FPV badge it'll be on the car straight away... under the front indicators just looks a little bare
  10. Ok, I can see what your your talking about, but it's the slightest problem... it's actually about the thickness of the door... between 1mm and maybe 5mm max. It seems to be pushed out by the rubber, and it may just be the case that the rubber is new, and has not has time to settle... only a guess, but I'd say that after time it will align properly... maybe if it wasn't that way after time it would leak... If you see the problem on most cars, I'd say this could be the case? All I can say is god help the poor sales rep when he ask's you to check the car before purchase... he'll be sweating so much it'll run down his back, through his butt crack.. and down the back of his legs!!
  11. Well done...now how big is your crin???
  12. it doesn't work for me either, and I picked up mine on the 24 dec
  13. I was under the impression that the XR6T is essentially FPV, as they do the intercooler and Turbo??
  14. Somebody said that boost was set at 6 psi from 3500rpm to something like 5200??? This would hold torque at 450 wouldn't it??? So I think if your able to get around the ecu to increase boost, torque would increase as a result.... but I know nothing about Turbo's, torgue, boost or ecu's.... actually I really have little knowledge about anything and am writing on this thread cause I'm wasting time at work, and waiting for lunch time
  15. Not a problem... My brother has a GenIII VT SS, and I'm now asking him what his extra 2 cylinders are for.... maybe for cooking eggs on in the morning   Anyway... after a number of comparisions between the more powerful VY (235kW) and the XR6T, and the XR6T has come out on top, the VT, or VX isn't even worth talking about I'm not just bagging V8's...well I am... now that I have the 6T... but I'm just pointing out the facts :D
  16. If your coming from a V8, like myself, you'll notice that straight away. I've never had a Turbo before, so the whole power thing was quite strange. But yes, it just doesn't throw you back into your seat like a V8, but once it's up and running.... that's a different story!
  17. One b**ch... the sunroof is over priced for the Ford ..2000 bucks! my god... I could have had one on a Expensive Daewoo for a $1000!!
  18. Must agree again... coming from a V8 (AU XR8 200kW) I don't think I'd actually go back... put it this way, the XR6T eats VX SS for breakfast, and even takes a bite out of the "all powerful" VY SS!!
  19. The car is VCT (Variable Cam Timing) so what will happen if you use normal Unleaded is that it will retard the timing...(it has a knock sesnor) it wont damage the car but at the same time you will have a loss of power. If you are really concerned about it talk to Ford... I think it's actually in your Owners Manual... maybe not the description, but at least it states that you can use normal unleaded, or premium
  20. That would be good. I'd be very interested to hear it, and see it go etc. I'm seriously thinking about doing the same.... I have the wifes nod as long as it's worth it. (I'm actually after a sweeter note, just a little louder, but not to loud, and nothing like a 4" pipe from a WRX!) I hope you can make it, even just for a sticky beak, if you can't do the run
  21. As long as you vary the revs, and not load the motor up to much (before a couple of thousand k's) or rev the motor right out you'll be fine. Try to avoid long expressway drives (sitting at a steady rpm), or extended idling (this is normal for any new motor, car, boat or Jetski) I highly recommend Premium Unleaded at all time if you can; 1, afford it, and 2 find it all the time
  22. I'm Happy to meet at 10:30, and leave by 11..... Can we get numbers Who's in? Mr Sparkle Mr Plow CJF (Maybe) Mals BA XR6T *Others from FF*
  23. Sorry yes. As for the 20-30% increase that's over normal.. which would work out to be about 50-75kw at the motor... does it feel like you have gained that much more power over the stock exhaust setup?
  24. Guys... I'd love to catch up with these blokes too, the more Fords cruising the better. Is this something everyone would like to do???
  25. This could be crap, but the exhaust guy said that the power increase, given you change the exhaust from the outlet of the turbo, could be between 20-30%... that is huge... in your experiance would you say it's that high?? Also, given that the torque is 450 no matter what, did you notice any improvement to bottom end power... between idle and 2000rpm?
