Yes, real world honest feedback looking at the Ecoboost for what it is supposed to be, comparing my old FG XR6 Turbo (which I did use for work as well as play), as well as taking into account my time on the road visiting clients etc.

I suggest everyone just drive one... Drove a G6 EcoBoost limited edition last week, We are coming up to renewing my work car, which in the case of our work they will only accept 4 cylinders, usually diesels. These things are fantastic! dont know what lag the magazines are reffering to but I couldnt feel any, as for seat of the pants it felt just as quick if not quicker than the Inline 6. You can notice the lighter front (felt lighter than my old Fg XRT) feels really nice in the twisty stuff even with G6 suspension & eco tyres. Granted only two of us in the car and no luggage, but I was impressed none the less. The only downside is the engine noise lacks the roar of the 6 but if you just focus on how quick it goes when you stick the boot in all is forgiven, Slow down to city commuting and the thing is just effortless. Limited edition see's leather seats 8 inch touch screen & of course the other g6 features, fleet price with other discounts looking at sub $35k, say $141/wk over 5 years, Take that to the boss with the bonus of cheaper rego & 8L/100 fuel consumption, (this demo had about 800km on clock, average fuel was sitting at 8. Would make a happy boss! and a happy me when the alternative would be me sitting in a 4 cylinder hatch all day long! If they want to sell these things, they need to get as many fleet managers as possible in these things and let them loose, infact just get as many people driving these cars as possible, they will sell themselves once driven, the 4cyl preconceptions disappear! Alongside actually marketing the things!

Very well said harryh - couldn’t agree more. All said and done the whole thing is just a big marketing ploy preying on the uneducated (ask people on the street and see how many know the meaning behind the carbon buzz word...) just so the government can collect more revenue & keep the Greens onside & happy in the process. Just like the "Organic" buzz word.. But don’t get me started on that. Not to mention the ridiculous compensation schemes, "We are going to increase dole payments family benefits for low income earners/unemployed, We are also going to increase the tax free threshold to encourage more long term unemployed to go to work"..... So tell me why a dole bludger is now going to want to find a job when you just increased his dole payment? As I tried to explain all of this supposed logic to my young nephew and how little difference one small country can make, "If you had 200 people in a room and they all fart, then the next day you have 200 people in a room and 199 of them fart do you think you will be able to tell the difference in smell....

You can smile again, new owners have signed the paperwork to purchase Denmac, give it 2 weeks to sort out all the legals and it will be full steam ahead again, this will also mean alot of the good staff that "lost" their jobs will be back at work Happy days, its been a bastard dealing with some of the other local Ford Dealers

The world is really full of scum, My fiance and I had the same problem a few months ago, we bought her a Brand new Black Peugeot 207 Convertible, We took it straight home that night after delivery, The next morning she took it to work... Came out at morning tea time to get something out of it and found it had been keyed all the way down one side.... It had 0000041 kilometers on the clock FFS. But she is a retail manager unfortunatley so it is parked at a scum hole shopping centre 6 days a week

I deal a fair bit with Denmac, generally buy a couple of vehicles a month from them, I am on the phone with them or sitting in their offices once a week, I can safely tell you they will not be shutting down, there are interested parties as far as purchasing the franchise, apart from that Ford Australia has 100% commited to Denmac Ford staying open regardless. Ultimatley there will be no fire sales or anything like that, new owners will come in and restructure that's about it. -
Rattling Noise In Fg Turbo Dash Area Any Help Would Be Great!
dazza1981 replied to Cameron1334's topic in General Car Talk
Mine was the glove box lid.... had it replaced at 45,000km under warranty, the new one however was no better so I ended up sticking some adhesive foam on the dash where the lid closes against and it removed the free play in the lid.. Happy Days. Long term I dont think it would be good for the plastic latch if you open and close it regulary, but I never use mine so no problems -
I heard about this a few weeks ago and have been shaking my head ever since..., now in light of the "Planking Death" I issued a memo to all my staff this morning informing them that anyone caught planking whilst at work on company or customers property will be met with instant dismissal. It pisses me off when the stand around doing nothing when we are busy,It will be far worse me catching them laying down on sh*t whilst they should be working... that will just tip me over the edge lol.

I was in the exact same boat, was all but set on the phoon until I drove the FG, bought it almost straight away, the FG feels better all around bar the brakes. Buy an FG and upgrade the brakes Plus for whatever reason the FG was $400.00 per year cheaper on insurance as a little bonus.

- A/C condensation leaks into the drivers footwell probably due to the known faulty HIM module, again completely covered under warranty okay, I'll try with them for the third time. wish me luck! This would be more due to a blocked drain off the evaporator, loose drain or lack of/missing insulation on the suction pipe of the evaporator. - Warranty I would suggest going to see Colin or if not Phil at Southside Ford Wooloongabba,I always get amazing service, they are always flexible to my hectic work schedule & always fix every tiny little issue without a quibble, occasionally they need the car for a second crack at it,(lets face it this can happen) have never needed to return for a third crack on anything, this has been over the last 4 years first with the BA, now my FG, My advice with any service centre is always give them enough time to do the job, dont push to have the car back within half a day if they say it is a full day job, pay the 30 bucks for the loan car and give them the time to do the job properley. Seriously try Southside Ford, the list of complaints I have had we 4 times longer than yours and they are all fixed, everytime I get the car back from there it feels like a new car.

I had asked the same thing want to get rid of mine for similar reasons, I have all three 06,07 & 08 went to the local model shop for advice - the 06 is worth $900.00 the 07 & 08 about $300.00, problem is there are a few people selling the 07 & 08 ones at the moment so getting the $300.00 might be a bit of an ask. Hope that helps

As much of a wanker I may be labelled for saying it I really do beleive that the Will Davidson "accident" was a calculated move...he just drew the short straw - how many of the top 5 Holdens would have actually made it to the end without that safety car?? 5 Holdens run out of fuel on the last lap or have to pit on the last lap.... how embarrassing for the company. Even after the safety car the top 4 were still receiving warnings on the last run down conrod 2 corners to the finish to conserve fuel...

Hi All, I feel a little rude for asking as I am not the most active member of the forum but I thought I would ask anyhow. I am getting married on the 15th of April 06, I have a super strech limo organised for the bride & her bridesmaids but I would dearly love to have us guys dropped off at the wedding in 2 ba xr6 turbo's, xr8's or Gt's whatever I would be happy with anything. I would not expect this for free and I would be willing to pay for the service in either cash or alcohol just name your price. Basically it would be pickup from Forest lake and drop to meadowbrook & a few photo's before we leave & when we arrive, the stretch will take us to the after wedding photos so it would take no more than an hours work tops am open to any colour as long as I can get two cars the same colour Please let me know if anyone can help. Thanks Darren

I was just watching the webcast of the Ford stand being opened at the sydney motor show, Was interesting to see ford confirm they will be realeasing the Focus ST Turbo here - However it will be badged a Focus XR5 Turbo . It is a 5 Cyl Turbo with 170kw and is a 6 speed manual. Click the link below to have a look! Click Here Looks pretty good imo.

The "New" Expensive Daewoo Viva is a rebadged Daewoo Lacetti from a couple of years ago, as well as the new Barina to be released in the next few weeks is a rebadged Daewoo Kalos, both Korean and both with no connection to Vauxhall/Opel as such so there will definitley be no turbo model. (Read Expensive Daewoo recycling the leftovers from what was GM Daewoo Aust) However we may get the Opel Astra OPC / Vauxhall Astra VXR (Badged as a HSV) Which is a 184kw Turbo from Memory Compared to the soon to be released Astra Turbo which will have 147kw. The Viva will be sold alongside the current Astra range as a budget alternative.

I have seen a couple of imitations for Sale recently in my search for a new car... Here are a couple, not a bad effort on both of these they look pretty close to the real thing if you didnt know much about FPV's Fake Phoon
