  1. ^^^ What he said. If you have no plan to change the turbo for a bigger unit then a dump and cat will give you all the power you need when coupled with a tune. The sound in my opinion with this mod is great with no drone or exessive noise. Just a nice burble as you are looking for. Benny.
  2. So in the instance of a radiator the best colour is actually matt black as this will dissipate the heat within much quicker than a polished aluminium radiator. The problem with black materials is they absorb heat just as well as they radiate it but when the black item is much hotter than it's surroundings then this isn't a problem.
  3. Cameron I'm not sure I agree with your theory here. It is a known fact in thermaldynamics that different surface colours and finish types have varying emissivity values. Emissivity being the relative ability of a surface to emit energy by radiation. A black surface has a greater ability to emit heat radiation as it's emissivity value is closest to 1, say 0.8 where as a polished reflective surface has a much lower value of say 0.2 making it a much poorer emiter of radiation. An example of this can be found in this youtube video I've grabbed quickly. Ok so it's not going to let me post a youtube link in this post no matter what I try. Regards, Benny.
  4. ^^^^ I agree. On my previous turbo XR when the Dunlops were at the end of their life they were terribly slippery and I had very little traction anywhere under 70kph. I put a fresh set on just before selling it and the difference was night and day. A worn tyre that has seen many heat cycles is going to have much less grip than a new fresh tyre. Sometimes I wonder if buying a cheaper tyre and throwing it away half worn would be better than buying an expensive one and running it as long as you can to get the life out of it. Benny.
  5. Spinning, I changed the oil myself and didn't consult the dealer at all. I haven't asked if this would void my warranty and don't see how it could. I doubt they could even tell. I use factory Ford parts and the recommended Castrol 5w20 oil. I wouldn't suggest changing the oil weight in any car away from what the car is has been designed for. The lubrication engineers at Ford know a lot more about oils than most mechanics and forum members. Certainly changing oil from a mineral oil to a full synthetic oil too early can affect the bedding in of the rings etc. Benny.
  6. I can guarantee you that the oil that comes in the Miami from the factory is 5w-20. I changed mine at 3000k's and can show you evidence of the contamination found and the reduction of this at the following oil change at 8000ks. I have no doubt in my mind there is benefit in changing the oil earlier.Benny
  7. I'd like to know what information is there that tells people that "run in" oil is used in the Falcon. If there is then what is the difference between that and the normal oil. Benny.
  8. I'm unsure of the part number for the genuine bosch unit. If anyone has this info I'd certainly like to know. Alternatively you can use this reg http://www.034motors...ar-p-19082.html. Thanks to IH8TOADS for this link. In addition to the reg being a restriction on the return the factory swirl pot has a restriction also. Both of these should be considered. Benny.
  9. Yeah Ratter I did. The fuel pressure has increased from 52 > 62psi at idle. The car is trimming fuel (can't recall % at this moment) but this will be adjusted for when tuning in the next few weeks. The restriction in the factory reg and return line is causing the increased pressure. Benny.
  10. I've installed a Walbro 400 in my standard swirl pot with no issues so far. Benny.
  11. Bigger pumps can cause higher fuel pressure. Whether or not this pump will I'm unsure, depends on it's capacity. If a higher pressure is achieved then your car is capable of triming fuel out of the tune to a certain extent. How much extra pressure you can run before the car is unable to trim enough fuel out I'm also unsure. Someone else here may be able to answer this. Benny.
  12. If you can then get some injectors before going for a tune. This will allow you to get much closer to your goal power. If not then 260-270 will be it. Benny.
  13. The mufflers on the FG turbos are a straight through design so there is very little restriction. Benny.
  14. Congrats on the purchase. Now to enjoy the agonising wait till it arrives, lol. Benny.
  15. I think you'll find these two bolts hold the timing chain cover the the front of the engine. Of course there are more than just two. If you've tightened them up and it doesn't leak then you should be fine. Benny.

I believe David at KPM advised me a bigger pump is required from about 420rwkw and up. Although I don't really plan to go higher than that I upgraded to be sure. Benny.
  17. Just a little tip for you. If you go LED for reverse lights you'll need the ones with a resistor incorperated. Commonly referred to as CAN compatible. If you don't then they will emit a dull glow when the engine is running even when not in reverse. Reason I know is because I've replace mine with LEDs. I went for 9 SMD for reverse. Benny.

All the mods to my car are listed below in my signature. I'm looking to get on the dyno for some tuning in the next 2 weeks, xmas, new year have slowed things a little. Like you I'm aiming for anything over 400rwkw really. Benny.
  19. Have you replaced your reverse lights yet? Benny.

If I was in Brisbane I'd be going and seeing Elite Automotive as they've modified a number of the Miami's and got a great result in the recent Motor Magazine Hot Tuner Challenge. As for the Police GT I wasn't of the impression that it was making 400rwkw. I was thinking more like 400 engine kw's from reading the media reports. I can't imagine them pushing their car that hard to make 400rwkw. I could be wrong though. http://www.news.com.au/national/limited-edition-falcon-gt-fastest-car-ever-for-ford-australia/story-fndo4eg9-1226522171678 Benny.

There will be a number of differing opinions of what you should do next but I would suggest an intercooler to cope with your hot climate, some injectors and a smaller blower pulley. You should be able to make 400 with the standard exhaust and cats, you'll just have to run slightly higher boost for the same result. Fuel pump should be fine until about 420. How far do you want to go with your car? If you're aiming for more again then you need to consider what the best pulley upgrade is to save you wasting money. Either the replacement Yella Terra blower snout or the bigger engine pulley and smaller blower pulley Herrod supplies if you going to be looking for more later With the bigger injectors fitted you wont be able to flash back to your stock tune as the scaling for the injectors will be all wrong and the car will over fuel badly. Benny.
  22. I've got the Invos and so far very happy with them. Benny.
  23. I agree with both of the above comments. You get what you pay for I believe. Have you considered the need to upgrade piping as well? With increased boost in the FG the plastic oem piping has been known to fail. Benny.
  24. Drop in and see him Falky. Mark is a smart guy and talks no bullsh*t. Benny.
  25. Try giving Mark at Streamline Automotive a call at Warners Bay. He has tuned lots of turbo Fords plus extensive experience with Holdens. He's currently the Walkinshaw dealer and tuner for NSW. You don't get this contract without knowing your stuff. Benny.
