Well done Matt great result. Have you got a dyno graph for us to look at? Sounds like a good exhaust with that sizing, not too big for the standard turbo. Benny
Nice work. Have ya thought about a high flow cat or dump pipe. That will get you a few more kw's. That air intake will make some spool and turn heads that's for sure. Benny
Would be a great achievement and good product to have something like this available. I keep looking at my mates R34 and saying the XR should have that. Just needs to be small and easy to install. Benny
Can't see it causing any big problems. Oil in the intake can slightly reduce performance due to the contamination of the intake air but I doubt anyone could see a difference. The only thing it does do is clag up your throttle body etc. Just need to wipe or clean it out every now and then. Benny
If it's only a small amount of oil then this is normal. It's oil from your engine that gets into your intake due to "Blow By". Blow By is just pressure blowing past your piston rings which then pressurises the sump and pushes oil back up through your breather into your intake. Forced induction engines suffer from it mostly due to the positive pressure given by the turbo/supercharger etc. You can collect this oil in a "Catch Can" if you'd like to stop it getting back into your intake. Benny
I always thought that the Nulon Pro Strength was the best one when tested against all others available. But in saying that I don't think any of them increase the RON rating as much as they state on the bottle. I've used Pro Strength at the track with no bad results. Benny
I would've thought that just changing the cover would make the turbo more inefficient. Would be kinda like removing the vanes in a water pump. The turbo wouldn't pump as much air due to the larger clearances from compressor wheel to housing. If it was me I'd be doing it properly and changing the wheel as well. Benny
I don't believe you will make 300rwkw on the standard injectors. Mine maxed out at approx 280rwkw. With new injectors and tune only I managed 301rwkw. Of course the power figure will all depend on the dyno you get tuned on. As for the fuel pump it'll be fine. I'm still running an oem pump. Benny
Sounds like you've got it all under control. Where abouts are you? Who is doing your tune? Mine is on a completely standard turbo. No mods required. No more power to get now though, maxed out. Benny
Nice car. Need to get yourself a trans and engine oil cooler. Mine went well at Wakefield with these. Nice choice of brakes, I have the same. What are your next round of mods? Benny
Geez you don't muck around. Looks like a great list of mods and high 300's shouldn't be too much of a problem at all with that gear.Just need to decide on a good tuner to make it all happen and be reliable. That is going to determine if the car drives well and handles the power. Benny
My opinion would be: Injectors Intercooler Flash Box with custom tune Dump pipe and cat. The restriction in the exhaust is the cat. The rest of the system is fine for the power you're are aiming for. A bigger dump pipe will give you faster spool. If you opt for the intercooler make sure it's a good one. Probably looking at $1800 for cooler and piping upgrade. Benny
Interesting find on the Michilen site stating to put them on the rear. I'm suprised they can seriously think that's wise. The front tyres steer, do majority of breaking and cut through heavy water before the rears to prevent aquaplaning. I would personally put them on the front. Benny
Azzman, I'm having the same problem with the forums. Can't see all the box I'm writting in. I just hope I don't make a mistake, lol. I use upgraded brake rotors and Ferodo pads which are a cheap but effective upgrade for moderate track days. Benny
Erko where are you? My opinion would be if you just plan on some fun track time then get some Ford 18 inch wheels and fit some KU36's or the like. Cheap and effective. If you want to get serious then some lite weight 18 inch racing rims and say some Toyo R888's. Lots of different brands of semi slicks in 18's available. Benny
Everyone has their own opinion on run in and it's been disussed here 1000 times. My opinion is if you want to keep the car forever then take it slow and baby it. But if you want a car that makes good power and you don't plan on having it till you die then don't be afraid to exercise the engine right through the rev range, don't hang it off the limiter and don't run it for long periods at the same rpm. Make sure you change the oil at say 3000k's or abouts. Benny
If you're looking for power above 300rwkw's then I'd think you need 3.5 or even 4 inch piping. That's the easy part but when it comes to the right noise it's all to do with the mufflers and their size. I personally think you fit the largest muffler possible in the space that's available. But for flow these mufflers need to be straight through. I think one of the best systems for a ute and flow would be the 4 inch Nizpro system. Benny
