  1. Great news Arkayne. What power and torque did you end up making? It's such a buzz when you get a new tune with more power. Tyre selection is going to be even more vital with your new tune, lol. Take care with the new power. Benny
  2. Arkayne, If you go 19's you wont be able to fit KU36's. They don't make the right size, 18's only. This is not a major issue there other options for tyres in 19's. For a really good gripping tyre in 19 you will be up for decent money, 500+ I'd say. Options I'd consider would be Pirellis, Michelin, Good Year, Yokohama etc Benny
  3. Generally for an auto RWD XR I heard that it's approx 22%. This figure came from Nizpro when they had an engine on their engine dyno and then back in car. What power does an AWD Terry make at all four wheels? Benny
  4. In an 18 I think, depending on brand of tyre, you could fit a 275 on an 8 inch wide rim but I wouldn't advise it. Too much tyre flex On a 19 or 20 definately not. Not enough tyre wall. The correct rim size would be 9.5 inch rear rim and an 8 inch front. Benny
  5. The KU's will be a great tyre for street use. You'll have to stick with 18's as they only have 2 available odd sizes in 19 and none in 20. Benny
  6. Everyone is going to have their own opinions and experiences but for me I'm sure there are a number of other better tyres available than what's in that test. It all depands on what you want to spend and what you expect from a tyre. Do you want the best at any cost, just something to get you around, dry weather performer or a good all rounder? Other suggestions: Kuhmo KU36 Federals 595RS Continental Contact Sport 3 Michellin PS2 or 3 Pirelli P Zero From that list you have I'd pick the Goodyears Benny
  7. You just need the 35/40 turbo and a new tune I believe with the gear you already have. Do you have pics of your car on here somewhere? Would be good to see. Benny
  8. Quite easy job and not a lot of cost to do the head gasket. Much cheaper than a short block. Just make sure you change the head bolts and machine the head. Benny
  9. Can't hurt. Get them in there and you wont have to worry in the future. It's better to push hard on a bigger injector than run on full duty cycle on an under sized injector and risk lean out. Benny
  10. Personally I think the more power you make the less likely you are to reduce your 0-100 times. With 0-100 being such a short period of time and being able to get traction is a real hit and miss, especially on the street. My money would be on soft wide rubber on the rear with the current power you have and practice practice. Benny
  11. With a bigger turbo you'll just need a surge tank with 044 and that will get you there. Not sure if I'd use a 35/40, there is probably better options out there. Might need an external waste gate and moded dump pipe if you opt for different turbo. Benny

    Electric Polishers

XLR8, I have a cheap $40 dollar job from Supercheap but it's not battery powered. It's good for lightly removing polish or wax but it's not suitable for serious buffing or polishing. It doesn't have a lot of grunt but this is good as you don't risk damaging or burning your paint like a professional buff. Benny
  13. No problems with mine yet during tuning. You must be making some serious power to break an FG motor. I'm sure there will be a few tuning places that have options to replace those parts. Try C&V, Tunehouse for support. Benny
  14. I also have the MaxiDiag US703 the same as f-wolf's and it works a dream. Allows live data reading and reseting fault codes etc. Benny
  15. Pah, Pat might be the best to answer this question and provide a solution but in my experience with changing to Tein's my car has considerably reduced axle tramp. I've also fitted top end tyres which has reduced it again but it's not gone all together. The only time I get tramp now is if I jump on it real hard in 1st gear trying to introduce wheel spin. If I launch the car properly holding off in 1st and then full throttle second I don't get tramp, just wheel spin. Benny
  16. Interesting device that Aquamist unit. Would be interesting to see results of one on an XR. Benny
  17. Yeah I'm heading along to see the one in Newcastle. Not sure if anyone will be there but no harm in having a look I guess. Benny
  18. Best bet is take it out and block up the holes. This will get rid of the pssssht and give you great tututut with no effect to performance. Benny
  19. Have you considered the Goodyear Asymetrical? They've been getting great reviews. Benny
  20. They are right. In 245 they are 89Y rather than 93Y. That's another reason why I didn't fit them in 245, 275 would be ok. Benny
  21. Pah, All of your concerns can be met with a good tuner. These engines can handle 400rwkw with the right bolt on equipment so 300 is a sinch. My car seems quite happy with the current gear and tune with no signs of ping at anytime during me driving it. Just find a reputable tuner that is will to listen to your requests and your car will be fine. Benny
  22. Awesome result. I bet your loving the new power. The temps in the mornings will be putting big smiles on your face. Make sure you post up some pics and dyno graph. Benny
  23. Just think they use to be fast when they came out. Surprising it's with Pickles. Benny
  24. Good time to listen to your turbo is straight after shutting down the car. Just pop the bonnet and listen to it run. It should have a nice smooth bearing sound until it stops in about 30 sec. If it sounds unusual (grinding or rattling) then it might need to be looked at. Benny
  25. The Advan Neova (AD08) tyre will be a very soft tyre and not last very long but will hold on extremely well, would be one of the best available. I was looking to get them but decided for the Pirelli P Zero's for a longer lasting option. Mitch (Dat 40L) on here runs the AD08 on the rear of his XR so he will be able to give you some feedback. When I priced them I think they were around $520 per tyre in 245/35/19. Unfortunatily you can't get Kuhmo KU36's in that size or I'd have them. Cheap and soft. Benny
