  1. I think a whole new setup 6 spot front and 4 spot rears with DBA rotors is about $4.2K. So just rotors and pads is going to be a whole lot cheaper than that. Benny
  2. Everyone is going to have their own opinion of where is the best but my experience with Tunehouse has been nothing but first class. Jim's shop is uxexplainably clean and neat with a state of the art dyno cell using a dynapack hub dyno. My car has been tuned by Jim for the last two years with flawless performance and no issues or engine failures. I travel 2 hrs from up north to have my car modified and tuned with a number of other tuners closer by but wouldn't take my car anywhere else. Jim may not be the cheapest in Sydney but as the saying goes "You get what you pay for". With the parts you have ready for install I'd think Jim should be able to comfortably get 380rwkw from your car. Benny
  3. Give Matt at Race Brakes Sydney a call. He'll be able to supply some DBA replacement rotors and various pad options at great prices. Benny
  4. Dave, If you want someone to check then I'd take into Simon at XFT Midvale and get him to give his opinion. To fix the turbo it will need to be removed and sent for a rebuild. This can cost anywhere between $900 and $1700 depending on the repairer. Benny
  5. Great post and thanks for sharing. Got me thinking how I could test mine now. Benny
  6. Use Pirelli P Zero here which are awesome. Also have RE55S on 18's for "spirited" driving. Benny
  7. Don't feel too bad mate these things happen. Just learn from the failure and think of the positives. Get the car in the shed, start planning the repair and what the new engine is going to look like. Remember it's only an engine and it can all be fixed. Much better than smashing the car or hurting yourself. Benny
  8. I had a test drive of a new GT335 last week. I think the positives from the car were the brakes felt very good and instilled confidence when pulling the car up. The gear shifts felt quite firm and fast compared to my XR (mine's probably a little worn now). The car got plenty of looks and sounded extremely good when driven hard up to redline. As for the performance I can only compare to my car as I haven't driven the old GT which is probably not fair comparing to a tuned XR but it'll have to do. The power delivery was much smoother and more liniar with quite a bit more traction than my car. It certainly wasn't as strong down low but that's expected. My tune seems to deliver power in a sledge hammer fashion which isn't kind on grip. I think a tuned GT is going to be a very fast street car due to the linier power delivery and this assiting in traction. I would certainly like to take a ride or drive in a tuned one before deciding if I liked it more than the Turbo 6. Cons were as I've said before pricing. This GT was $82K without the option of 6spot Brembos. Hopefully the revised FG is going to have some extras to make it more attractive and better value for me. Benny
  9. If it was my car and I was going to install an intercooler then I'd also be investing in a flash tuner and custom tune. Then see how your moded exhaust flows. Flash tuner will be your best bang for buck mod. Benny
  10. You can't go wrong with either of these suppliers. If it was me I'd pick the one that looks the best and if that doesn't assist with the choice then the cheapest. They both have been proven to perform very well. Benny
  11. How many mufflers does it have? If it's had the centre muffler removed then that may be the reason for the louder note. Benny

    New Mods

Will be good to see the new tune and dyno graph. Make sure you post them up when done. Benny
  13. The only thing that is borking me is the pricing. I don't know what everyone else has been told but I was quoted 62K for a GS with no options. That's essentially an FG XR8 with a blown 5L. If you want leather, colour screen and dual zone I was told 67k. This seems a bit much seeing you can get an F6 with the lot including Brembos for 70K. My XR has every option other than Brembos and SatNav and it cost me 55k 2.5 years ago. Love the new Blown 5L but I can't see the value in one yet. Benny
  14. Yeah I also think Brian. He really got the tuning started way back in the begining. Also the site sponsor tune shops have made a great contribution to all our knowledge. Benny
  15. Interesting machinery to watch. That one is only a baby. Check this link out The company I work for has 5 of these in Oz that are capable of shredding a hole car in less than a minute and will sort the remains into different piles. Very impressive stuff. The police like using ours to shred cars used in crime. Benny
  16. Two test mules crushed is chicken feed for Ford. They have served there purpose and must not be able to be released onto the street, ever. Benny
  17. I doubt there would be any horror stories, for a factory car probably perform the same and weighs less. Just looks sh*t Benny.
  18. PSI40T have you tried different wheels and tyres on your car? It isn't a rolling diameter issue with your current setup is it? Or maybe a wheel speed sensor? Benny
  19. The GS is looking to be a much cheaper selection with optioned leather and the GS wheels. Then take it to Race Brakes and option $4k worth of 6 piston Brembos and then a tune and it'll be just as good as a GT but without the badge. Benny
  20. My mate has just purchased and flash tuned his SRT with a Predator Tuner he bought from the States. The tuner was about $300 and has made a nice improvement to the performance and also gear shifts. Car is managing a 4.8 0-100 now and drives with much more mid range torque. He purchased from RDP which use to own Redcliff Dyno in QLD but moved to the US. http://www.rdpmotorsport.com/ Benny
  21. If you go turbo back you will need a custom tune due to the improved flow and to stop the car from going into limp mode. You don't need bigger injectors or a fuel pump to do this as the car can be safely tuned to the limit with exhaust only mods. You should be able to see around 270ish rwkw on standard injectors. If you want to go the next stage then injectors will be required. The fuel pump will be good for plenty more power. I'm still running my factory fuel pump. Benny

    Fg Turbo

In my opinion GenTech is your best option for the Canberra area. http://www.gentechperformance.com/ford/index.html Benny.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Get rid of the factory Ford rotors and pads and as above replace with good quality after market gear and that will fix your problems. I did that in my BA with great success. Benny

    Dba 5000 Rotors

My experience with my 4000 series is they have these same cracks from doing track days and have had for close to 18 months with no signs of ill effects. My brakes still perform just as good as they always have and haven't got any worse than my first track day. If you want to be sure then give Matt at Races Brakes a call. Benny
