  1. Make sure you post some pics, dyno graph and tell us how you went. Your power figure will depend highly on the dyno you are tuned on. To put it into perspective you should ask Rob how much a standard FG makes on his dyno. Then compare your gained kw against others with similar mods. Benny
  2. You shouldn't try to drive your car without the turbo and it would take the manufacture of an exhaust dump modification to be close to successful. I'd suggest removing it and getting it rebuilt by a reputable company. I'm not sure who is the suggested places in Vic but in NSW it's GCG or MTQ in Sydney. The cost will vary depending on what is damaged and what needs to be done. I've seen quotes for between $800 and $1700. The turbo you have found on ebay looks to need an external wastegate so no it's not suitable to bolt straight in. I'd look to replace your oil feed line also with an inline Earls filter or the like. Benny
  3. Thanks. Sorry thought you were a Sydney resident.Benny
  4. That looks nice Ben. I would suggest to go down this line also. Did Jim do that for you? How much, if you don't mind me asking. Think I might do that on my next car. Benny.
  5. You buy it from Ford as a kit. It'll come with 2 coolant hoses as well. Benny
  6. I just did mine yesterday, I know it's hard to see the level. 7 ltrs is definately too much and as RHR has said 6 litres is plenty. As you would know now the filter is an AFL101. Benny.
  7. The injectors I use are high flowed standard injectors from Nizpro. They work a dream and have had no issues with idle or tuning by Tunehouse. Benny.
  8. What was done to your R8. That's some decent power. Bomber has the right idea. A dump and cat is plenty enough if you don't want to change to a larger turbo. It will be quite a bit louder at full throttle with this mod. If you can manage $5k spend on the car then you should be able to get fairly close to the power you had in the R8. Benny
  9. Each time you've replaced your brakes in the past have you replaced them with factory rotors and pads? If not what have you been replacing them with? AP is great gear from what I've heard but not cheap equipment. Benny
  10. So why are the brakes you have now sh*te? If you don't like Brembos then you can look at AP Racing, Alcon etc. Benny

    New Dbas

Good pads usually squeal mate so I wouldn't be too concerned. Just have to put up with it. Benny
  12. When I filled up yesterday it was 134.9 for E10 and 149.9 for 98. I'm sure the price difference is slowly increasing each year. I always use 98 regardless of the price because that's what my car is tuned to. Benny
  13. I use a Maxidiag US703 as found on Ebay and it works great with my FG Benny.
  14. Looks tops mate. Great car you got there. Benny

    Dba Rotors

I use Ferodo DS Peformance pads which are awesome pads with great stopping power and little to no fade for what I dish out on the street. I've had no signs of shudder and my rotors look like they still have plenty of meat left with 30000k's on them. But this all comes at a price and that's dust. They are dusty but I'm willing to put up with this for the performance. Benny

    Dba Rotors

I've had DBA4000's for the last 30000k's. I've had them glowing, smoking and they still work great. Couldn't be happier for a standard size replacement rotor. Just make sure you fit good quality pads or you could find your shudder return. Benny
  17. Doesn't sound good. Race Brakes should be able to help ya out with new stuff or look around on the forums for some second hand stuff. Benny
  18. The F6 cooler might be taller but it's thinner than the XR cooler so they really aren't much of an upgrade. I was making just 300rwkw on the XR standard cooler but if you want better consistancy in warmer weather then a bigger aftermarket item is the go. Benny
  19. What makes you think you've cooked them and they're no good? Mine have been glowing and smoke coming off them and are still good after 30000k's. Nothing wrong with getting better brakes though. Matt at Race Brakes has great prices on new sets of Brembos. Benny
  20. Yeah what KV has said. I'm managing 340rwkw with just a dump pipe and cat but a full exhaust may allow for a little more. Just don't go too big when running the factory turbo. Benny
  21. If anyone here is looking for a good Toolchest then I can't recommend more highly one of these. I bought one and it's awesome and much cheaper than all the local retailers. http://www.maximtoolboxes.com.au/tool_boxes.htm Can be found on ebay. I like tools as well. Benny.
  22. There are some great tyres listed on this page which I don't think you could go wrong with most of them. Trying to find grip off the mark in a car capable of this much torque with any tyre is going to be difficult especially if you have a tough tune. I have some RE55S semis on 18's that still struggle to grip if not really hot. I've come to the conclusion that if the tyres aren't hot then a clean take off is not going to happen and if you do happen to have a traffic light encounter then it's unlikely your going to heat them up before launching. I have just about worn out my Pirelli P Zeros which I've managed to squeeze 20000k's from and they have been a great tyre. But like any tyre if you want them to grip hard they need to be hot. The grip level can change depending on the ambient temp and what power my car is making. First gear is a waste of time in my car no matter what tyre I've used but the P Zeros when hot will grip right through second. I'm contemplating going some Nitto NT05's which seem to look good for traction and rather cheap compared to others. I have considered RE11's from Tire Rack which get awesome reviews. Just check shipping costs as they have gone through the roof since the Aus dollar is so strong. Benny
  23. Looks good. What wheels are those and do you have a close up of them? What diameter and width are they? Benny

    Tyre Life

That'd be a dream come true to get 30000k out of a set of tyres. 22000 is the most I can manage. I don't do alot of highway driving though. Benny
  25. I've been considering the Nitto NT05's recently as I'm due for new tyres at the moment. I think they come in the right size and aren't too expensive. Benny
