  1. I was quoted the other day $400 for a 44 gal drum of Sucrogen E85. Have noticed at the Caltex servos that the Eflex pump states from 70-85% ethenol which indicates to me they adjust the blend. Benny.
  2. Certainly a slotted rotor is better due to the slot being able to wipe the face of the pad and also expel hot gases from between the pad and rotor. But I doubt you'd notice a difference in performance changing the rear rotors to slotted from plain. Most people probably have slotted rears due to looks and matching the front. Benny.
  3. Impellor, If you are concerned that the engine bay temps are affecting the air flowing through the induction piping then my opinion would be not really. With the velocity that the air is flowing through your induction piping I find it difficult to believe the conduction of heat through the intake piping walls would be significant enough to see an affect on charge temps considering the speed at which the air is flowing when at full throttle. Benny.
  4. Depends on your intake and where it draws from. If you're running a factory intake or cold air intake then the air should be quite a bit cooler than the air in the engine bay. If you've got a pod exposed in your engine bay like many Jap modified cars I've seen then the intake temps are going to be much the same as the engine bay temps. Benny.
  5. I'm guessing you're referring to the centre muffler as the F6 doesn't currently come with 2 cats as yet. Removing any muffler from an exhaust system is going to make the car louder so if that's what you would like then that's an option you can go with. I wouldn't suggest removing the cat due to EPA regulations and also the need to tune the car but doing this would also make the car louder. As for turbo spool noise I'd suggest trying a different filter and replacing the intake muffler (silencer) elbow with a plain pipe elbow. If you want extreme spool then I'd suggest a battery relocation and short intake pipe with pod filter. Benny.
  6. My old XR was comfortably marking 340rwkw with the factory filter and airbox. With the airbox lid lifted for a run (no filter) it made no improvement. But in saying this I have heard people experience gains running a factory tune and airbox with K&N. Benny.
  7. I found the traction control intervention in my FG 1 to be quite good for street use. It allowed some wheel slip and the car to step sideways a small amount but still allow good power to be applied to propel the car forward. Obviously if I was aiming to drift or power slide the car up the road then I would turn it off but for all other applications I found it good. I've had it even save me once or twice in the wet in third gear when I wasn't expecting loss of traction. At the track is another story though, I had to turn it off to be able to lap at better times and found it to be to intrusive. I think one thing that can affect how intrusive the traction control is is the quality and grip of your tyres. The worse your tyres are the more intrusive the TC going to be, as expected. My BA on the otherhand was atrocious, it would intervene quite badly and prevent any sort of power to be applied to the wheels which would make it very difficult to get the car moving out into a small gap in traffic. My new FG 2 I will have to report on when it arrives this week. Benny.
  8. I looked into doing this with my FG XR wheels and spoke to a company in Victoria who I was told could do it. Sorry I can't remember who they were as it was a few years back now. When I spoke with them on the phone they said it would require 4 sets of wheels as they would cut the centre out of two and weld them into the centre of the other two. Although they were offering to do this their advice was that this was not the safest modification and they couldn't gaurantee the wheel wouldn't crack or fail especially on a car with big horse power or being used for drag or track work. With this advice I decided not to complete the mod. I know this may not be of great help to you but I thought I'd explain my experience. I wish these after market wheel copies that are being sold would be manufactured in a staggered offset. Benny.
  9. Give David at KPM a call and ask him what he suggests. Best talking to the tuner that supplied the flash tuner. I'd guess 98 will be fine. As for your handbrake it most probably needs adjusting, which to do it properly is probably going to require removing the rear wheels and brakes etc to adjust at the shoes. Benny.
  10. Sorry I don't know anyone in your state but there is GCG and MTQ in other states if you're willing to post. Regards, Benny.
  11. You sure it's not the heater core in the dash? Benny.
  12. The oil and coolant are two seperate systems that do two different things in the engine. The oil is for lubricating bearings etc and the water is to cool the block and head. Lowering your thermostat would lower the operating temperature of the engine but cooling the oil wont have much effect on reducing engines temps but allow the oil to remian in it's ideal temp range during spirited use which will provide better protection. Lowering either of these systems too far can affect the correct operation of your engine so care must be taken. Benny.
  13. In most processes heat is an undesireable condition, which reduces the life of equipment. This goes the same for your engine. Your oil is designed to function efficiently during normal operation but when you push your engine to it's maximum the oil thins and provides less protection. So installing a cooler will allow the oil to cool and remain closer to it's designed temperature range of operation. This will improve reliability and prolong engine life by reducing wear to bearings etc. Benny.
  14. Just what I've been wondering how to do. Great post, thanks muchly. Benny.
  15. Am I the only one that experiences driving along in the left lane of a freeway with the cruise control on and when I come up behind another car there always seems to be someone that has to perfectly time the positioning of their car next to me so I can't change lanes. It's like people time their passing of me at the same time they can see I'm going to need to overtake the slower car I'm catching.. Why can't people see that I'm going to need to change lanes and either get past early or wait and let me out. I have a lot of patience for truck drivers because I've experienced what it's like to be in a heavy vehicle. Takes forever to get up momentum, very hard to merge with traffic, as soon as you lose speed up a hill you may as well pull into the cycling lane and go back to first gear and stopping takes so much longer when your hauling 42/60 ton. As for others: I don't like taxi drivers because they think they own the road and believe we must give way to them no matter how stupid of a move they want to make. People who can't wait their turn and cut up the inside of an ending lane just to want to be let back in. People that wont move over out of the fast lane to let vehciles doing the speed limit to pass. People talking or texting on phones. People sitting up my ar*e even though I'm doing 5-10 over the limit. Sit back, wait till there is two lanes and then get past FFS. The amount of times I wish I was an unmarked HWP so I could fine the people that do these things makes me think I'm doing the wrong job. Rant over. Benny.
  16. But which small pulley option is the best to go with? Just a smaller blower pulley like KPM or the smaller blower pulley and engine overdrive pulley like Herrods are using? I'm trying to understand what is the max rpm the blower should be operated at efficiently. Benny.
  17. Great result. Congrates on the new car. Benny.
  18. How much power are you aiming for? A factory turbo would be good for 400rwkw but those rods aren't going to last much more than the power you're making now. Benny.
  19. Agreed Corzza.
  20. 19 x 9 ET32 will sit 16.7mm wider per side from stock width. Benny.
  21. Note: They wont clear Brembos without a spacer unfortunately. Benny
  22. Hates waiting for new cars to be delivered.

  23. Corzza, When I was looking for wheels I was given this name, Terry at Bosnjak Engineering Sydney. He makes wheel nuts for the falcon in black from special aircraft grade aluminium. Maybe you could try him. Benny.
  24. Great read. Thanks Barra. Benny.
  25. If it's bigger than a 35/40 then I'd guess it isn't a 35/76. Benny.
