  1. Or just come to my shop and ill do the work for you.. ;-)
  2. Not much at all mate. We sold it at a fairly heavy loss. But you gotta be in the game or there's no point opening your doors. There are items we dominate on and that's where you make up your loss but all company's have people they get great deals or huge rebates which allows then to cut the ass out if the price. They are all company owned mate 150+. Parent company being Wesfarmers who also own Bunnings, Coles, Kmart and a huge interest in resources. Retail at 30billion annually makes up only a portion of what they turnover.
  3. You're correct Panda, they have to and will price match anything. Even online you just have to add the shipping as most online stores these days give you killer prices but charge through the nose on freight. Yesterday I authorised a $129 router to go out at $49 price matched against Netcomm. Laptop at $699 against jbs $499 minus the 5% of course. They will ALWAYS be cheaper but like I said earlier more often than not its up to the consumer to do their homework.
  4. Supermarkets are finally getting it right IMO. Good fresh offer, better range and more stock. Not all but you can see in Coles' last year results they are doing something right. Best mate was COO for Clive Peters a few years ago and saw the writing on the walk regarding large appliance retailers back then. With the strength of the Aussie $$ and price deflation it will be an age before hard goods retailers see comps. Take TVs for example. Not even 12 months ago you would have paid $2500 for the same tv that can now be had closer to $1000. So now you're having to sell 2-3 flat screens to achieve the sane amount of turnover. Officeworks where I am now are 40% behind last years numbers in computer sales. Selling roughly the same number of units but the average price has dropped so sharply you simply can't sell enough to maintain high net turnover. As prices go down so does margin and ATM most electrical retails are operating at negative margin on a lot if products just to stay in the game. This is obviously why Woolies sold off Dicksmiths and are probably dancing around the Xmas tree thanking their lucky stars that they dodged a huge bullet.
  5. I don't work for them anymore, not for a few weeks now.
  6. They will also employ around 30,000 people. They are creating 1000s of NEW jobs. If you want to compete you need to be aggressive and you need to make money at the expense of smaller businesses. Bunnings are most guilty of this but they are still Australia's most trusted retail brand and currently employ over 40,000 people. I would say on a whole it is a great thing...
  7. Wow finally a post about Bunnings has popped up.. I worked for them up until recently spent about 4 years runnings a couple if different stores. As a retailer you won't get a better business to work for IMO and I have been with a few "culturally sound" organisations. They do need to be the cheapest and they are legally bound by this due the the "lowest prices" being slapped across their stores. There are always conditions and a lot of the time the customer will need to do their homework but you will never find something cheaper else where and if you do they WILL match and beat it even below cost. Timber is tricky as they only source renewable products which can drive the price up and quality down but once again they will always match them. In saying all this I think the concept of masters is something I like in a retailer but the model just isn't working ATM in this country. They are targeting female shoppers who more often than not make the decisions when it comes to higher dollar items or purchases like kitchens and fridges so on and that's why they offer a huge range of big ticket items. But so far the Aussie public aren't onboard. My cousin is a fairly high level investor and was at their parent company's strategy day. They have projected to lose over $100 million per year up until 2016 and rumor is Lowes have put the breaks on at about 50 stores. They are also finding it hard to open as fast as they had planned because Bunnings having wesfarmers as cash flow went and bought a lot of land with the intention of purely sitting on it and takings way the opportunity of any competition snapping it up. Masters actually opened a store right across the road from Bunnings head office of Toorak road. Bunnings turned it down as the price of that land was ridiculous. Fingers crossed that masters are able to stick around and get to 150 stores as its great for retail and business in general in this country. Are they effecting Bunnings? Not really, well not at this point. I still have access to national sales results and YTD on comps Bunnings is about 6% up on last year which in retail is unheard of. Places like Jbhifi, Harvey's, myer, djs all the big retails are seeing double digit negative growth. Retail is struggling big time so get out there and spend!!!
  8. Aren't you the lucky one!! I would call the tool out... Dipsh*ts like this further lessen the credibility of all car enthusiasts.
  9. My brother trains at that FF. been there a couple of times and there are some big units there. One dude would have been close to 280lbs and barely 5"10. He was a f*cking monster, biggest dude I have ever seen. Doing sqauts today I upped the weight again by 10 so only 90kg and as I pushed up I was feeling I sharp pinching almost burning sensation on the right side of my pelvis. Hernia maybe?
  10. It wasn't a genuine apple product bit yes looks similar. Will genuine apple solve my problem?
  11. I was just about to post something about this. I have a series 1 FG and an iPhone 5. I have an adapter purchased from a phone store that will charge my phone but not allow it to play through my stero on AUX like my iPhone 4 did via the cord in the console. Am I missing something??
  12. Hmmm let's not turn this into a war of the keyboards hey? Haha I think we all understand that you're not making excuses for your actions, but the fact you're wanting to appeal suggests you don't fully understand the potential damage these actions could have caused.
  13. I'm up to 80 for my sqauts and 3 sets of 12-14 so I guess I could up it a fair bit but I'm finding my hip joints get really sore whilst coming up if I go heavier. Could it be something to do with my form? Spoke to a guy at the gym and he suggested I should be doing more core work or even wear a belt to keep my pelvis in a better position.
  14. You were travelling 30kms+ over the speed limit... I think you should just cop it on the chin, do 3 hard months and I assure you it won't happen again. Yes I speed no doubt, 30km/h? No way and I have over 10 years of driving hypo cars with a clean record to my credit. I'm not saying I wouldn't try and do the same if I was I'm your position but take a bit of time to think about what could have happened. Good luck! P.s sorry to be an ass I'm just very frustrated with seeing people die and watching the screws get tightened on us car enthusiasts because of incidents like this.
  15. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/ford-falcon-2011-12676795?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=5&eapi=2&__N=4294739905%204294965775+1246+1252+1247+1282+4294966463+4294966285+1216&num=15&silo=Stock&Range=Year:2009,Max&sort=default Closest you will get. Go buy it otherwise you will need to go to an auction.
  16. My 1978 E21 320 was a better car than my FG... But if I was in your position I would get the Ford, or Gold R as I love those things. There are a heap of guys on this forum that haven't had many issues with their cars at all, plus being based on a taxi they are simple machines and you could find yourself doing most of your own servicing which is another plus. Take one for a drive, standard they are surprisingly quick.
  17. The car came back with warrant-able damage that wasn't fixed due to cost cutting. Whether its noticeable or not as Bionic stated the pistons had score marks in them. You would obviously be OK if your basically brand new car bent valves, damaged pistons and they weren't replaced? I wouldnt be. Plus, this isn't Expensive Daewoo v Ford. I made that point to demonstrate my frustration in both manufacturers as I sold my Expensive Daewoo for the same reason.
  18. The criticism isn't towards you or your dealer mate its directly pointed at Ford customer care who make these decisions. Dont need to defend yourself, youre doing as youre told which I think we all agree is complete f*cking rubbish..
  19. I know they both suck, its more the fact I jumped ship and supported another aussie brand instead of going for something I knew would give me less trouble, like a carolla lol... In the end both company's only have them selves to blame if they go bust. Poor quality, poor service and people are sick and tired of it. 40k for a turbo ute might not seem like a lot of money but when you add it all up its simply not worth the long term hassles. My next car will be a mazda or golf or some other reliable POS...
  20. So Bionic, let me get this straight.... You work for Ford? So you're telling me instead of replacing a faulty long motor which shows obvious signs of damage you have been told to do a half ass job, patch it up and get the guy off your lot.... Right? You hold no duty of care what so ever but if I was you I would be contacting the owner and notifying him of the issue... Because if that was my car and I somehow down the track did find out I would be f*cking wild and wanting blood... What a piece of sh*t business the Ford motor company is. I hope they go broke, with customer care as poor as this they don't deserve to be listed as an Aussie car manufacturer.. I regret selling my SS more than ever now. When that car had issue they were fixed quickly and with no questions and the car always came back in better shape. SO ANGRY!!
  21. Why mate? What did/didn't you like?
  22. You can runs 5s on the FGs bro with removing da mud flaps!! I think this is the 4th time I have posted in this type of thread but here goes! I have owned both, yes the SS need coin to make it go "fast" and the FG really doesn't. But you need to ask yourself, do you need an 11 or even low 12 sec car? I don't and I regret selling my SS as for me it was a much nicer, easier fun car to own. My FG is insane, really good fast car but the quality is poor, IMO the VE is a cleaning, sharper looking car and the sound, even with a cheap exhaust just gets your balls tingling and unless you're willing to break the law to prove it there's no point having an insanely fast car. It's not like it was even a few years ago. Having a hypo car is more of a liability than anything else. Im not trying to be a buzz kill here but I asked the same question 3 years ago which led to me buying my FG and as much as I love it I wish I hadnt as its just costing me money now and will continue to do so until I see it. Every time I see an VE SS or even Clubby (which I could have afforded considering the money spent on my FG) I think far out they look good for an aussie car, then you hear the big 6l+ and think FFS I wish I still had that lol...
  23. Keep us informed on your progress please mate. That seems to be a lot of training for a single muscle group unless you're splitting hams and quads. I need a full weeks rest after leg day. They remain sore for at least 5-6 days... I'm taking stuff for recovery but maybe I'm going to heavy? Not sure..
  24. It comes down to how much you want it.. There is ALWAYS time for the gym or to prepare your meals. But what are you willing to sacrifice for it? Most days I'm up at 6, work until 5, straight to the gym home by 7, cook my dinner and meals for the following day and ready to chill by 830. In bed by 10 and do it all again. I'm fortunate that I'm single, don't have kids and can pretty much do what I want with my time so apart from staying off the booze mid week I don't sacrifice a lot. If I wasn't going to the gym I would come straight home and watch TV or play Xbox. That doesn't help me at all lol
