My Fg Xr6 Turbo Just Ran Out Of Warranty. And Issues Arriving Any Tho
Boog72 replied to Boog72's topic in General Tech
Well after much stuffing around it all got fixed and Ford covered it under warranty. I went to pick up the car, checked it over.....no bloody coolant in it!! (I know there was coolant in the tank before I dropped it off). To say I was pissed off was an understatement. I grabbed the service manager and tried to say that "well we didn't take any coolant out of it!!" I didn't give a stuff about whose fault it was.... I was annoyed that if it had been someone else who took the car and didn't check the vehicle first....they could have done a long trip straight up and cooked the engine. Very sloppy (Bryan Byrt Ford Tingalpa, Qld). Will never be going back there again! -
Well I gotta say I'm jealous of your garage. The missus and I were only talking about it the other day that "Sh*t, should have got the little XR in Black to match the FG Turbo ute. Looks great in the garage though! Yeah I can relate to being an addictive drive. We've had our XR5T for bout two weeks my FG ute has hardly been used! Love the sound of the 2.5L and the feel on the road. We've only just put 1000kms on the odometer however our average l/per 100km is sitting around 12.1 which is roughly the same as our FG ute (6spd manual). Did take it for a country trip and it returned 9.1 which was alright however the ute has got down to 8.7L/per 100 kms which is awesome. Obviously the motor is still tight so hopefully the fuel averages will reduce over time. I was chatting to one our friends who used to work as a service manager at a Ford Dealership and he advised that they are a great little car. He advised that the wheel lock nuts are crap and that we replace them asap. He advised that with repeated rattle gun exposure they wear out and basically are almost impossible to remove... Well the missus traded her immaculate BA XR8 sedan which was our other baby and although it's a huge step down in power the little XR5T is just a load of fun to drive. Yeah I'll back ya up...they are a great little car and after driving a VW Golf we much preferred the Focus (but that's just our personal preference!!). Hope your missus enjoys her new ride and very nice F6! Congratulations!

Yep Timmy I will definitely keep a very close eye on it!! Considering that they shaved the bolts down to give it a bit more of a closer hold of it!! Dagabond, Yeah brus I did change the plates on it to personalised at some stage but I advised them of this! Well all the receipts etc were in my log book folder in the glovebox and they have past the info onto Ford Customer Care for determination. Fingers Crossed it goes ahead with a positive result!! Will keep ya posted!! -

Well I received the phone call from the Service Division advising that the car was finished and ready for pick up. Service Manager advised that they declined paying for the warranty work. Very disappointed. Well I rang Ford Customer Relations Centre and advised them of this and how annoyed that a vehicle with only 40000 km's on the clock having an issue such as this and not being able to come to the party. I spoke to someone there who was going to review the case. The original decision maker (the one who declined it in the first place) asked me what was wrong with the car....blah blah blah. She advised that she would discuss this with the service manager and get back to me. Well I received the phone call back and she advised that yes it is a manufacturing fault however there is no record that my car has received it's regular logbook services....which it has. Apparently the servicing wasn't recorded on Ford system...however the car has always been serviced through the dealership throughout the whole warranty period...don't know what happened there! And yes all the receipts are in the servicing pouch in the glovebox. Told em to tell the service manager to check in there and they will see that everything is all above board!! Fingers crossed. They have admitted that it is a manufacturing fault. Will keep ya posted and yep I will pursist. Thanks peeps! Tim -

Cool thanks for that!! Yeah fingers crossed they will cover it. I will ring Ford Customer Relations as well tomorrow and give them a heads up and also let them know that I have purchased another new car a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully they may come to the party! Will keep ya's posted. Cheers for the fast replies, any further advice or comments would be of great assistance! Tim -
Just wanted to get any thoughts and ideas regarding my FG XR6 Turbo Utility! I purchased mine new and took delivery on 18th August 08. The missus took the ute out the other day and whilst the car was out of the garage I noticed a few little drops of oil on the ground! (It's only just started!) Rang the dealership straight away and booked the car in. Obviously the dealership advised me that the car was no longer under warranty and that the issue with the car is that the timing cover seal has gone and will cost me $750 to rectify!! Almost sh*t my pants! The car has done only 42000kms with no modifications to the engine. Any advice or out of warranty experiences that people have had with dealing with Ford. Any help will be greatly appreciated as the car is out of warranty by just over two weeks. Not to mention that I have only just purchased my missus a brand spanking new XR5 Turbo Focus (just traded her immaculate BA II XR8 Manual Sedan) and a little apprehensive about a further parting of $750 to Ford. Other than that the ute has run like a dream and given me hardly any issues (Flapping LH side inner guard, and Blown Muffler, all happily fixed by Q Ford in Springwood Qld) Cheers Tim

Yeah nice Pair and awesome matching colours!!! My missus just sold her BA XR8 for the XR5 Turbo (Performance Blue with White Stripes). Will chuck up the photos as well as I have the FG Turbo ute in Silhouette. Gotta say the XR5 is an awesome little car to drive. It's a step down in power compared to her XR8 but still gets up and boogies! Congrats on the new car brus! Tim

Yep I had the same problem with my ute... Would take me ages... Hold the Pump handle not so far in and yes so the base of the handle is almost on the paintwork and it should be right!!! Cheers

Yep my FG XR6T Ute sounded like an old Diesel motor at a certain rpm. Have had the centre muffler replaced, heat shield replaced and had the tub taken off to address rattling at idle. Ford are waiting for a fix to raise the rpm but as other members have mentioned this is another way of fobbing us off (it should be relatively quick fix considering tune shops can raise it no probs). It has fixed the rattles and noises and the utes running like a dream. The ute has just hit ova 20000kms (2008 model) and no other issues.

yeah I love it!! The rims just look awesome on it! brilliant how you can go to a 275 width tyre in a sedan with no mods! Top ride man!! A set of Quad exhausts would look sh*thot too! How's your FG going, no probs? I have the FG xr6t ute in Silhouette (Manual), it's just had its 15k service at my Dealership and warranty work done... My plan was to wait patiently for the 12 month service to come up then do some mods. The time has come... They go great stock but it's brilliant to see some of the numbers these cars are pulling on dynos and 1/4 miles around oz with very little mods! What sort of power are ya targeting with the mods you have in mind?

Go the F6 mate!! The GT is nice however in a stock package the F6 is better in most ways (unless it's blown of course) Yeah I gotta admit I would love that. I have the FG XR6 turbo ute (manual), Luxury pack, in Silhouette and it is awesome. I have owned it for 12 months and had no problems with it! I'm a clean freak so the car is as new.. Still having seen and heard Christian's FG Super Pursuit (Harrop Blown), part of me still says "Shoulda gone for the Eight!" lol

Hurts just looking at the pics!! I can see what condition the car was in "Immaculate", so its such a shame to see it get damaged in such a reckless manner!! Glad you are ok!! Hope everything goes smoothly for you and your back on the road fast! All the best, Tim

I can honestly say I have had no problems with my dealership.. Mind you, I have had minor gripes with my FG Turbo ute (inner front plastic guard flapping at speed, clutch pedal spring needed resetting, the rear tub shifting, clunking noise in the back etc etc). Everything fixed, no probs. In saying that I have never been a fan of dealerships and have always gone to good performance shops in the past. Will look at Bayside Performance at Cleveland Qld, or Elite to do my 15k service. I took mine to Q Ford Springwood. No Complaints...

Sorry mate, I couldn't help ya there!! Hey Zap, what month was your FG released?? I went to the dealer today to get the update so I could get the music vids option. They reckoned it didn't need the update, already had it. My XR6T ute was an August build. I got the Luxury pack so I have the Premium Sound package etc. I was a little surprised to hear it didn't need the upgrade! Cheers Boog (Tim)

Yes I would love to know if there is a way that we can get videos on the screen too!! I have the 80G Ipod Classic and have owned my FG XR6T since August 08. The Ipod integration has been awesome and never given me any problems. All my songs appear alphabetically. My only gripe is that if you have a number of albums for one artist and you want it to play continuously through the albums you can't (unless you change the album name so it's all the same). No big hassle though. I have DVD movies stored on my Ipod and would be over the moon if you can play them. I was only in the dealership yesterday too (just to get something else looked at (clutch pedal spring needed lube)). Interesting to hear from Zap that there with the upgrade a Music/ Video option came up on the ICC. Cheers Boog

Hi Jase, Yeah it would have been great to chuck the injectors on straight out, but the combo you have now..... I can't even imagine how it would go now!! My Ute goes good for what it is and is getting better as the motor loosens up, however I can't imagine how the F6's go and with over 400hp at the rears with all the creature comforts, fuel economy to match some 4 cyl pus buckets and no bad manners...it would be a weapon!! The fuel economy is excellent for what you have at the wheels too!! very surprised!!! I went to byron 2 weeks ago and returned 7.7L per 100km's on the highway and it averages 13.8L per 100km's (and I have only 270kw at the motor...lol) Well I ended up going into BPS on Tuesday and checked out their workshop!! They mentioned your car too and I let them know how happy you were with the combo (and told them it was the reason why I drove out from Logan to see them!). I discussed a package with them (will be doing it after xmas...got the money but it's committed to a holiday....F*ck! lol). Will arrange to install 60lb injectors, surge tank (which is situated on passenger side firewall (stealth install), full stainless exhaust including hi flow cats etc and bosch 044 fuel pump and tune. They mentioned that the F6's do have a larger intercooler which may explain partly why the FPV's are hitting 310kw at the motor, but I'll have to leave mine stock for the moment (will bust my budget). Obviously the mods you have had done and the ones I am looking at will meet emissions (should the plod pull us up!!) which is awesome!! Just wanted to say thanks for posting info about your mods and keep us posted on how things go with it!! Cheers mate! Timbo (Boog) Ps. I chucked a couple of pics of mine on here as well!

Congrats Jase on the top result. After seeing your post I'll duck over today to their workshop to see what they have to offer. I've been looking for workshops almost every day to see if anyone can cater for what I'm after! I've checked out Elite however they are only looking at tunes at the moment (still early days!). I am looking at 310kw to 330rwkw so I'd say injectors may have to be put into the mix. How does it drive now??? The only mods to mine is an xr8 lower airbox and larger snorkel at the moment and it goes great. Mate of mine has a VE Bogan special ute which pushed out 435hp at the rears couple of weeks ago (OTR, xforce high flow xorst, cam and tune) so I can't let him have all the fun! I know it'd be hard to resist the acceleration bug but have you turned out some good fuel economy figures yet?? Timbo

Hi all!! I purchased my manual FG XR6T ute in Silhouette with 8km's on the clock (Luxury Pack (19's, premium sound....yeah right!!!, leather etc, Tech Pack), scuff plates, XR Floor Mats and Dash mat) all on roads etc for $45k Flat). I ordered mine end of June 08 and took delivery Mid August 08. Just hit 4000kms... no complaints at all!!

Hi there all!!! Here's a pic of my FG XR6 Turbo Ute. I have owned it for about 4 weeks and can't stay out of it!! It's a 6 speed manual, Luxury Pack (19"s, Technology Pack etc) and is the first turbo'ed car I have owned. I am very impressed with the power delivery and surge that comes on from almost nowhere! I have put up 1300kms already and hanging to get 1500kms to really open it up and see how it goes. I know the mod bug will bite and looking at a custom tune and other minor mods just to up the power (this will be done after 1st service). I am an old school V8 man having owned, built and modified many old classic Holdens (2 door HQ Monaro, HJ GTS Monaro, VK Calais 5lt, and a Genuine LX SS Torana Hatchback 5.0Lt). This is the second Ford I have owned (currently have an immaculate ED Fairmont which Is my daily driver). I have driven it around Australia and has clocked up 600,000kms and has been so reliable. I live in Brisbane and headed down to Southport Spit today for a cruise and found it weird watching everyone staring as I drove past! I am very happy with my decision so far and if it turns out to be reliable as my old Fairmont I will be very impressed! Happy driving everyone and I will put some more pics up!! Cheers Tim Brisbane Qld
