  6. I love the cock big black cock big is best

  7. Actually found the Audison setup excellent straight out of the box but yeah I bought it due to advice from a couple of members and Autobarn here in Brissy....and they gave me an awesome price which I couldn't say no to!!! Still haven't had a chance to plug the laptop in and have a fiddle but will get there one day but from looking at the manual there's some pretty cool stuff to have a play with!!! I'll check out rockford 360 setup! And cheers for the positive comments!
  8. Yep for sure...one of the things that always crack me up is fulla's who crank it up till the speakers are ready to fail but look at ya....and ask the question "sounds good hey??" hahaha!!! There are some great speakers out there but I love the Focal's!!!! Yep I've only taken mine up to 24 on the volume...trust me it's pumpin hard and clear and probably enuff for my eardrums!!! lol
  9. Obviously the base is on the ledge and heaps of velcro. It's planted firm and not going to move at all
  10. As far as the volume for the sub enclosures the volume is not far off. I used the kicker website Sub box dimension for a single sub and matched that. Obviously my enclosure isn't flat on the top however it is higher than the kicker product to try match the same volume.
  11. Yeah the base of the box is raised off the ledge by about an inch.. just to allow access to the jack on the passenger side, I've placed MDF on the bottom of the box on either side of the box (like wings which go to the edge of the cab (covered in carpet)) to stop lateral movement and the base with heaps of velcro. Yeah I know if I roll the car I might end up wearing a 12" sub on my head touch wood but I done what ever I could to not drill holes in the car. I tested it and done hard braking and thrown the ute through a few corners just to test that it's not moving and it's not budged one bit!!
  12. Yeah definitely worth it!! I've been using Focals now since 1999 and the last set I bought endured corregated roads and 3 trips around australia...the car is sold but the system in it is still as good as the day I bought them (my cousin bought the car). Don't get anything else!!! They are worth every cent!
  13. Yeah Kyle, The Focal's are awesome and I've had 6x9's in previous cars which I know if set up right can give you plenty of bass. Would love to hear how your splits sound in the ute...when you say they sound crystal clear...I believe it!! they have won awards so they would be brilliant to listen to! It's hard to imagine that Focal have been able to make improvements on speakers considering even the one's I have in the ute sound unbelievable. Ps... Nice ute mate!!!
  14. Cheers brus!!! Very happy with it!!
  15. Hey Tom, All the stereo gear I had sitting in the spare room for approx 6 months and mate it was bugging the sh*t out of me that I couldn't find the time to put it into the car. Really all I required was the sub enclosure materials and the Sound Field Processor to complete the job. Soon as I found the Bit Ten going cheap I swooped!! Found the materials for the subwoofer enclosure so conveniently sitting in a shipping container at work (inside insulation and the thick marble finish MDF) I swooped on that too. Basically worked 2 long weekends (morning start through to midnight). Relatively cheap job however I did what I could to make sure it was done properly.
  16. Might be able to fit an amp under the passenger side seat but drivers side might be tight due to the seat mechanism. The sound processor is in the cab behind the drivers seat on the side of the sub enclosure. As far as the sound resonance through the vehicle... I have had it cranked and the panels are as tight as!!! Don't know how it will hold up in 5 to 10 years time but it will be long gone by then.
  17. Well I finally finished the install of my system into the ute....and absolutely blown away.. I went with the Audison Bit Ten processor and yeah they make a good product. I have a little bit of noise when the head unit is set at zero but once it's up...mind blowing crystal clear sound!!! I considered getting it installed by a shop but after quotes in the $1800 vicinity I ended up doing whole system myself Basically done my research, planned the build (routing of wires etc), I manufactured a custom sub Enclosure to house the 2 12"s behind the seats/ Amplifiers in the cab of the ute and installed the processor etc. The sound stage in the ute is mind blowing (and that's with the 'out of the box firmware' operating the system...haven't got around to updating the software on it with the laptop yet!!). The install turned out beautiful....pain in the a*s at times but the end result was worth every bit. No cut corners, no body mods or drilling required at all to the car, looks completely stealthy in every way (umm until you see the amplifiers and 2 subs aimed at your seats!!! and the sound quality is like driving around in a sound studio!! The two 12's hitting the seats is simply lethal with zero distortion, a snare sounds like a snare, guitar sounds like a guitar...I can't help but now drive the long way home!!! hahaha I've since pulled up alongside other FG and SS utes and they spinout that the Bass is coming from an FG!! Heres some pics!!
  18. Here's those photos!! Cheers
  19. So as I don't hijack this thread I'll keep it brief but it all came down to price. The Audison unit was roughly $800, I spoke to a few shops and just happened to come across my unit (ex demo but never hooked up...was only ever in a display cabinet)...they dropped the price to $410 still in the box..thought they mucked up on the quote so I swooped lol. Yep I'll have a crack at the laptop tune soon...you can restore it back to factory settings so if I stuff it I'll put back to the way it was. I honestly haven't seen the Alpine at work but it was one of the ones I was scoping when looking at purchasing.
  20. Bout to hit the sack after a good nite at work!!

  21. Hey Dave, Just thought I'd let ya know I finally finished the install of my system into the ute....and absolutely blown away.. I went with the Audison Bit Ten processor and yeah they make a good product. I have a little bit of noise when the head unit is set at zero but once it's up...mind blowing crystal clear sound!!! I followed your advice and done the whole system myself, done my research, planned the build (routing of wires etc), I manufactured a custom sub Enclosure to house the 2 12"s behind the seats/ Amplifiers in the cab of the ute and installed the processor etc. The sound stage in the ute is mind blowing (and that's with the 'out of the box firmware' operating the system...haven't got around to updating the software on it with the laptop yet!!). Just wanted to say thank you very much for your advice. It gave me the confidence to back myself instead of paying someone else some ridiculous amount to do it. Pictures tell a thousand words so soon as a get a chance I'll chuck some up. I unfortunately didn't get photos during the install as I had the missus coming out all the time asking "are ya done yet?....over and over and over!!! lol". My main focus was to complete it so the finished product will be what I'll chuck up!!
  22. Yeah I put 6.5" Focal Splits in the doors. I ordered mine with premium sound so has the tweeter possie's in the A pillar. Had to rip out the factory 6.5 speakers in the doors (there is a few threads about taking the door trims off). It's a piece of cake. I made spacers out of mdf so that the magnets for the focals (fairly deep speakers) cleared the windows..30mins tops! The rears are 6.5" speakers as well and are so basic it's not funny no modification whatsoever (placed Focal coaxials in there). I have just finished the install and made a custom sub box with 2 Kicker 12" comp Subs, 1 x 750.1 Kicker Amplifier powering both the subs, 1 x 400.4 Kicker Amplifier powering each of the speakers all run off a Audison Bit Ten Sound Field Processor so I can still use the Factory OEM colour screen...Ipod integration, steering controls, bluetooth etc. Some people have complained about the Factory Head Unit being quite noisy however I have found the Audison black box to be awesome.....and to say the sound is amazing is an understatement. yeah there is a little bit of noise when the stereo is on zero...but when listening to music it is crystal clear....and the bass coming from the 2 12's right behind the seats when it's cranking is lethal!! The Bit Ten allows you to plug your laptop in and you can tune the system (time alignment, crossover and filter points and equalisation).. I still haven't had a chance to plug the laptop in yet to upgrade the factory software on the box...still running the program straight out of the box and can't be more happier with the quality of the sound stage and I got quotes from stereo shops to install my system and was looking at a ball park figure around $1800...and that was to make the enclosure for the subs, purchase a sound processor (which you need if you wish to run amps). I decided to have a go at it myself and all up to install it cost $470 (purchase of the Bit Ten...normally $800 roughly, carpet and 2 bottles of Johnnie Walker. The Sub Enclosure I designed and manufactured myself from a solid Laminated MDF (just done research on porting etc) which I found at work (for Free!!) and sealed and insulated the inside of it myself I will post photos up as soon as I get a chance but any questions feel free to drop a line. My opinion...Do it!!! I'm no installer (just a dirty old Asphalter!! lol) and as everything was done in my own garage with nothing but a testing probe (for checking negative and positive wires, (Speakers), Jigsaw, cordless drill, Torx tools and a phillips screwdriver...Just takes time..but worth it. I've pulled up beside other FG and SS utes at the lights and they spinout that the sounds and bass are coming from a relatively new ute!! My only suggestion is do ya research...don't cut corners( AT ALL!!), and take pride in your work and you'll be blown away by the results!! Although mine was done cheap, I bought good gear from the get go (the system is out of my BA XT sedan), Make sure ya insulate your wires (Power cables for the amps etc), good earth is a necessity, and take the time to plan the build (routes for running cables etc), location of amps, which sound processor to use (every one has their own opinion on what brand (Alpine, Audison etc)).....don't get suckered into buying a cheap one or look forward to enjoying copious amounts of background noise!! In the end mine was a stealth install unless you look behind the seats!!!, no holes drilled or bodgy mods whatsoever and done my utmost to make it look as clean and professional as possible!! Good luck Tim
  23. Cheers Dave, Congrats on the install mate, and thanks for the advice. Yep the system is going in my 08 FG ute with premium sound (Luxury Pack). Yep I was planning on running cables down the centre of the cabin to keep all cables away from wiring looms etc and definitely know the importance of good earthing points (and to keep them as short as possible) for the amps etc. I have plenty of convoluted tubing for the Speaker Cables, and Power cables etc and will definitely keep them separated! A great investment will have to be the Sound Deadening and was looking at the extent that you went with in your ute, I was thinking "holy sh*t". It was great to see the pics ya chucked up and I basically want this system to sound crystal clear as it did in my BA but also want my car to stay in one piece! lol Seeing those pics is awesome advice and something that I will definitely follow! After reading all the posts from people having issues with noise etc and seeing how clean your install was I knew you would have had to address this issue! Well once again thanks for that and as soon as the processor, cap and sound deadening is sourced I'll get cracking on it as it is the only thing holding me up...once I'm into it I'll post some pics up. I am very fussy and particular with my installs and refuse to cut corners, from wiring type/ location (in relation to wiring harness, exhaust heat), type of equipment, no damage to vehicle (eg: no cutting holes etc!). You'd get the picture! lol Ps. Great choice with the rainbows too!!! Never heard of them before so I went and checked out their website.. Great looking speaker!!! Obviously plenty of bass with the 10" in the ute? Cheers Tim
  24. Hey mate. Was just wondering how it sounded and which processor did you use for your system. I am in the process of fitting a Kicker 1x750W mono amp, 4x100 Kicker amp to Focal 6 1/2 splits in the front and 6 1/2 Focal Coaxials in the rear with 2 x 12" Kicker Subs. This system was out of my BA Falcon Sedan and sounded brilliant off an aftermarket headunit which I installed myself. I am overly aware that the FG's are notoriously noisy when fitting aftermarket amps and speakers etc and open to any suggestions. I am chasing clear sound whilst retaining the use of the factory head unit! Cheers Tim
  25. Yeah great to see someone having a crack at it and awesome to see all the photos. Hurry up and get the rest of the photos up. lol Can't wait to see the job done!! This thread was just what I was looking for as I am in the process of doing a similar install in my FG ute. I have Focal 6 1/2" Splits for the front, Focal 6 1/2" Coaxials for the rear. 2 x Kicker 12" subs, 1x750w Kicker Mono Block and 4x100 Kicker 4 channel with 2 Rockford 8V line level converters. Bought the materials on the weekend to start on the sub box and amp mounts so I'll chuck photos up too!
