  1. ok long story short, clutch was dieing for a few months but before I could afford a clutch I just babied my 327rwkw ba ute about. once I had my new clutch installed and run in I discovered the ute had a bad miss once it was hitting boost. -to try fix this I regapped the plugs which fixed the miss a bit -new iridium plugs, fixed it further but its still there.. the miss seems to pop up around 13-15psi at above 90% throttle. should my next step be new coilpacks? cheers, danny
  2. damn was afraid of that. couldnt remember if I had seen one last time I was under it.. have to start saving my pennies by the look of it.
  3. hi, ive got a weird problem with the clutch in my 327rwkw turbo ute. from what I have read the clutch isnt reliable after about the 300 mark but im pretty forgiving to it and it has done about 30-40000km on it so far. now the problem is that the clutch seems to be slipping on fastish changes but doesnt slip if I load up a high gear, when I changed the engiine oil I noticed the clutch resevoir was almost empty and topped it up. the shifting felt better but the weird slippage was there and there are no signs of leaks at all. is there an inspection plate on these boxs to check the clutch so I can check if the slave cylinder is leaking onto the plate causing slippage? cheers, danny
  4. my cat died on my aps exhaust and I need a new cat, sick of running around with a gutted cat and overboost. does anyone know of a good exhaust shop on the southside of brissy?? or somewhere I can get a 3.5" inlet/outlet cat so I can mod and fit it myself? cheers
  5. finished gutting the cat tonight and reinstalling it. the car is making 17 instead of 15psi now, nothign major but ill baby it about till I get a new cat and its back to normal.
  6. its got a few bolt ons, tune and was making 327rwkw. the exhaust is a full aps system and their cat, looks like it couldnt handle the job though.
  7. pulled the bugger off last night and indeed it was a failed cat. the insides had started to pull away from the outside casing in the front section of the cat, the inside honeycomb stuff was all distorted from its original shape also.
  8. ok it seems my aps cat has had a big death and I dont have the spare coin with xmas and all at present to get a new one. so I was thinking so I can drive the car in the meantime of removing it, punching the guts of it out and welding a 3" pipe inside it then reinstalling back to the car. will the extra flow mess with the tune too much?? the car used to make 327rwkw before the car started to go and now its completely undrivable. yes I know its highly illegal but need a car asap and this is only a 2 month max dilemma
  9. ok after dropping the missus home I went to the blottleo which has a little bump to get in. as I went in I noticed a thud type sound but switched off quickly as I was getting out. upon restarting I have what sounds like a big exhaust leak and bugger all power, doesnt wanna rev at all but boost is climbing rapidly. looked under it after I limped it home and the cat was glowing red hot. it hadnt and hasnt copped any stick in months now as I knew it was losing power and havent had time to pull it apart. reckon the cat has sh!t itself finally??
  10. the intercooler kit requires the removal of the snorkel so all im left with is the f6 intake and the hole for ther snorkel in the side of the box. so blocking it off shouldnt pose a problem then?
  11. ok my ute is fitted with a (I think) process west stage 2 cooler which renders the over the radiator un-useable. should I block the intake to the airbox off to prevent hot air getting in or will it cause to much of a restriction to block this?
  12. ive had my ute for about 2 months now and its been great. the previous owner has modded it up to 327rwkw and its a nice car but lately it seems to have suffered a noticable drop in power. mind u its still hell quick just lately it seems to have lost some of its real punch. the exhaust note has changed slightly at low revs as well, paticularly low revs in a higher gear, the exhaust note seems to change more to a truck sound at below 1200rpm. so I was thinking from reading here that the turbo could have come loose but upon inspection it seems fine so I thought maybe the cat has died? the car has an aps exhuast fitted from the dump all the way back. any ideas?
  13. hmm how risky? im happy to get it tuned "safer" to prolong the life of the motor if above 300 isnt safe for a ba motor? its originally been tuned by c&v performance to its current state and I dont plan on doing anything to it as I have my hobby cars to power up and break etc. so safe power is high on mylist with this car.
  14. hi, im only new to xr6 turbo but not to high powered boosted vehicles. my hobby cars are highly boosted turbo geminis I build myself (no laughter needed). Ive jsut purchased a 327rwkw mk2 ford turbo ba ute and was wondering if this is a safe power level for a long service life on the engine? I dont drive it about like a mad man but it gets the very odd squirt on the highway no clutchdumps etc jsut footdon at speed etc. form what ive tried researching on these cars this is a managable level of power from the engine and isnt gonna spit a rod out the block???? all I am execting to replace for a fair few kms is the clutch if/when it goes?? its my daily so im very sympathetic to the car. cheers for any help and I look forward to geting to know alot more about these "sleeper" vehicles hehe
  15. this is my first post so hopefully I have managed to get it in the right section. I recently bought an 05 ba mk 2 turbo ute and the story goes form the previous owner that a workshop installed a bigger intank fuel pump and ever since then the gauge was funny. it used to show empty when full and full when empty etc until it just completely stopped working. now only being new to these cars is this jsut likely to be a wiring fault? or is it possible that the workshop broke something on the fuel pump/sender assembly? thanks in advance for any help.
