Yeah, swapping four piston Brembo calipers between BA/BF and FG is easy - they're all symmetrical. Swap the brackets between calipers (ie from right to left/left to right). Remove the crossover pipe from each caliper and put it on the opposite side. With six piston calipers, the brackets swap over easily enough, but the crossover pipes don't. Just means getting new crossover pipes made up at a brake place.

Yep, that'll work fine. If you're keen then grab some 328mm rear brakes as well. Besides being a larger diameter (328m vs 303mm) they are also vented instead of the solid smaller discs.

Process West Stage 3 Ic Fitting Instructions?
PhilMeUp replied to Trent0's topic in Intercooler Workshop
Not completely relevant, but when I had to replace the radiator on my Tornado I found a useful PDF on the Hybrid Power web site. Those ones won't show you where and how to cut for a Process West intercooler, but might be some help with how to dismantle/reassemble everything. http://www.hybrid-power.com/#!installation/c1qn1 (Email login required) Edit - some direct links: http://www2.hybrid-power.com/installation/installation/XR6%20BF%20GT2440%20Pro.pdf http://www2.hybrid-power.com/installation/installation/BABFGT2.pdf http://www2.hybrid-power.com/installation/installation/FGXR6.pdf http://www2.hybrid-power.com/installation/installation/XR6-IK-X01-SH.pdf -

Stuff the most recent starting bid. He's recently had them listed with a starting bid of $1,000... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261905052113 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261895804278 You can contact a Pack & Send near him. They will pack and freight the wheels to you, but will probably be expensive. I bought a set of four rims from someone in Hervey Bay, Queensland, and have paid $166.19 to get them freighted from there to Perth. That's from depo to depo though, not door to door. The guy is going to drop them off at the freight depo there and I'll pick them up from the Welshpool depo when they get here. That was through www.e-go.com.au The Pack & Send quote was massively expensive.

What's the link?

Yep, that's the same one that I've got. Useful gadget. Got mine a bit cheaper via eBay US, but the exchange rate was better at the time.
-
Well done! What model number is it? What did it cost?
-
Yep, that post was written by a female. They get it easy - they only feel like sh*t for one week each month. Whereas, us blokes have to suffer being sh*tty and pissed off for the entire month. Women get it sooooooo much easier. /troll

What's with this "from time to time" sh*t? From time to time... looooxury, I tell ya...

Ahhhhh.... how does one tighten leaf spring shackle bushes? Have a look through this: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11428368 Shackle bushes are just simple bits of rubber. They don't squeak. They don't exactly come loose. If you've got rear end squeaking then it's likely the handbrake. There is a clip that holds the handbrake shoes in place. If the clip is bent then there will be squeaking. To see how the handbrake works, have a look through: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/88405-photo-essay-babf-ute-wagon-rear-axle-bearing-replacement/ http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11428368 There will be some photos in my Tornado thread as well, from when I replaced the rear axle bearings: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89684-2006-fpv-tornado-f6-ute-cleanup-resurrection/ Info about the spare wheel winch: Check it. Make sure that you keep tension on the cable at all times so that it doesn’t go loose inside the casing and jam up. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89473-photo-essay-falcon-ute-spare-wheel-winch

What plugs & gap do you have in your car?

Fitting BA/BF six piston Brembo calipers to FG: According to Matt at Race Brakes Sydney, the brackets swap over, but the crossover pipes don't. Hence, new crossover pipes need to be made by a brake place. With the four piston calipers, both the brackets and crossover pipes swap over easily.

Take the car to a battery place (eg Battery World) http://www.whitepages.com.au/business-listing/battery-world-872867 They'll put their Midtronics gadget on, which will indicate what CCA that the battery currently has (eg the battery might be rated for 550CCA, but only have 400CCA). ie Either that, of get hold of an older style battery load tester. I've just bought one of these:

Easy to do. Put on a blindfold to make it interesting. Ford part number is AU22B663A. Use your contacts to pay around $75 each. Let me know if you can't get them locally for that. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89016-photo-essay-babf-front-bearing-hub-replacement

Yep, the taxi motor was suddenly making fatal noises yesterday, so a replacement secondhand motor was put in yesterday and today. BF motors don't die. Mine did. $1000 later... Bastard.

The rear suspension setup is very simple and generally doesn't squeak. Shackle bushes last ages. Some photos: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89684-2006-fpv-tornado-f6-ute-cleanup-resurrection/#entry1520650 http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11428368 You'll probably also find that the diff breather hose is broken. Replace it with some 6.3mm fuel hose. Have a look through my Tornado thread - some of that will be relevant to your car. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89684-2006-fpv-tornado-f6-ute-cleanup-resurrection/ Your squeaking is possibly coming from the handbrake. I've got the same noise on my Tornado, but I can't be bothered messing around with the handbrake adjustment again. Earl's oil feed line: Replaces the Ford oil line that feeds oil to and from the turbocharger. The Earl's one has a good filter in the middle. There's a thread on here somewhere with photos, started by Chief Wiggam. If you want some good brakes for the car then I've got a set of front 4 piston Brembo calipers for sale...

Poke the hose or a sprinkler over the garden fence?
-
Yep. &^%$# car is obviously female. Might put the old engine in the back of the ute to pull it apart and try and figure out what happened. Dump engine at tip when done.

I use a cable one from AliExpress.com with a laptop and FORScan - http://www.forscan.org Total cost: About $A8. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesales-OBD-OBDII-scanner-ELM-327-car-diagnostic-interface-scan-tool-ELM327-USB-supports-all-OBD/523624051.html

Leaf springs use rubber shackle bushes, but I can't see how they are worn in 20,000km. They also don't squeak. Sure it's not the handbrake? Fuel guage... dunno. Drive the car until it's almost empty and then fill it up. Should take close to 80 litres. Or, top it up with a jerry can and see what the guage does. iPod interference: Get the cable from ASL Logistics. http://www.asllogistics.com/catalog/ASL-iPod-iPhone-Charging-Auxiliary-Booster-Line-Conditioner-No-p-75.html Battery: Duck out to SuperCharge Batteries in Bayswater and grab an MF50 (ie 650CCA) for around $150 (a bit less for trade price). Or a Delkor 22EFR-680 (680CCA) from Challenge Batteries in Osborne Park. Or, take it to any battery place and get them to put their Midtronics tester on it. That will show the current CCA level for the battery. Low CCA = worn battery. (Note to battery geeks: I bought a new Midtronics MDX-700PHD on eBay US last night for $A310) You'll want to get an Earl's oil feed line kit. The one on eBay is a good option: www.ebay.com.au/itm/170942058826 http://stores.ebay.com.au/fittings2u Oh yeah, and congratulations on the ute purchase. Good fun car, huh?

Coils are about $250 for a set and 15 minutes to fit. That's one expensive transmission service.

Clunking noise in the taxi on Saturday night. Initial diagnosis last night was hydraulic lash adjuster. Did the oil flush/fresh oil/Nulon Lifter Free. Took the car to workshop today. By the time I got there it sounded like the bottom end was ready to implode. $1,000 for a secondhand motor to be fitted. Every other wanker taxi owner doesn't maintain their car at all. I maintain mine properly and the motor goes. BFs don't go through engines, which is why taxi workshops have spare motors all over the pace.

This. Get 'em secondhand, but nearly new. This sort of thing is rare to find in Australia, but easy to find in the US. Postage is expensive for one on its own, but if you make a shopping list of things and buy them over a couple of months then it works out cheaper-per-item if you have it all sent to Shipito. Other things to consider while you’re at it - do a search on Amazon for each one: - Oil filters - Mobil 1 M1-206 or Motorcraft FL820S (both very good oil filters) - Brake pads - Hawk Performance ceramic pads if you’ve got Brembo calipers. - Ampro T29771 1/2-Inch Drive Standard Extendable Ratchet (the extendable ratchet is great for loosening tight bolts) - AMPRO T75871 Cup Type Oil Filter Wrench Set (great for removing/fitting oil filters) - Bondhus - L-wrench - Ball End, Extra Long, 10mm - 16076 (an extremely long allen key, which is useful for loosening the fill bolt on BF and FG diffs) - Stanley 97-126 11 Piece 1/2-Inch Drive Metric Deep Impact Socket Set (well priced set of impact sockets) - Russell 639560 Speed Bleeder (they make flushing/bleeding brakes so much easier) - An SSD and some RAM for your computer. - Books & DVDs that you can’t get here.
