  1. Is the ZF tune likely to affect ZF temps greatly (even if shifting manually)? Been experimenting with a 3rd ZF tune (this one very aggressive) and ZF temps were approaching 110deg plus regularly after only 3 or 4 circuit laps on a 28deg ambient day. (This is with a fog-light ZF cooler with thermo fan on) Only change on this day at Wakefield was the ambient temp and ZF tune.
  2. Did the 3 lap supersprint at Oakburn Park (Tamworth) last weekend and ended up 1st in over 2l, Special modified vehicles (CAMS, Natsoft event). 8th overall behind the Open Wheeler Clubmans and Sports sedans on big slicks. The 295 A050's on the back didn't hit the guards but it was a go cart track, literally, and low duration sweepers minimized the chance of this happening. Might experiment with the lower spring support next time. About a 10mm rear drop.
  3. Had the 295 30 18 track tyres fitted on the 18 X 10.5" +22 rims but have run into problems. The rear camber could be adjusted to 2.5deg negative (with the aftermarket yellow arms in the pics) and the tyres even came close to tucking under guards , BUT the problem was the toe began to change far too much at that camber. Had to back it off to 1deg negative. My question is, is there am after market lower arm that allows tow adjustment at high neg camber? I'm testing the rear set up at a Hillclimb circuit in Tamworth (Oakburn Park) on September 20th with the raised spring seats. If nothing scrapes, then I'll try dropping the rear a bit lower with the stock spring seats. (Have a lot more pics to upload, but computer says "No". Max file size 26kb)
  4. Straight line grip with the 35 is better but the 30 is a bit better in the corners, and slightly less chance of hitting the guards.
  5. Don't tempt me. Would if I could. Unfortunately, NSW State time attack regs in Clubsprint only allow for 295 max width for 2WD cars (265 for RWD).
  6. Very close to the bolts on the test fit. In theory about the same as my rear 9.5" rim (12.25mm narrower on the inside) but sitting 13mm further inside due to +35 offset. Haven't modified plates with spacers. With the 295 30 18 tyres, they should sit a bit flatter/stretched than the 295 on 9.5" rim above in the pics.
  7. Test fitted rim. Didn't hear any clunks. 18 X 10.5 +22 Trying 295 30 18" A050 with 1.5-2 deg neg camber. Fingers crossed..........
  8. Car is still my daily driver. Just takes longer to set up. Wing takes 10 minutes to replace. Front splitter takes a bit longer. Bonnet takes 5min with another person. Front camber and front brake pad change take the longest. That and removing the baby seats!
  9. Full video now up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psC5Mi-DCcs
  10. No worries mate. I have also used 240 250 and 270 Michelin slicks. Best I have used were very fresh 27 65 18 S7H Michelins. They were sticky but you are right, ideally needed a wider rim for maximum effectiveness. I matched my slick times using 3 sets of brand new Z214's from tyre rack. I am now competing in stricter time attack events. Next year in the NSW Time Attack at Wakefield. Regs allow a 295 tyre all round for 2wd cars. My car has the torque to push 295's so resistance is not an issue, as well the weight to get them hot. The A050's will be used in the Hillclimb events I'm doing. Softs come up to temp very fast. Agree, a 285 would have been ideal but Z221 and A050 only go from 265 to 295 in width.
  11. I care "ZERO" for how tough it will look mate. "Better off selling them and buying some not as wide?" I have been tracking this car at the limit for 5 years. From 275 Z214, 270 Michelin slicks, experimenting with aero. I'm at the pointy end of Street/Circuit Falcon development in this country. Proved with my lap times on Natsoft. Read some of my posts dude.......... These cars need mechanical grip. It hasn't been done, and I'm trying my best to do it! "Once hot they will have bulk grip so width isn't an issue..."???? WTF? These cars are undertyred, massively. This has been confirmed by experts like Bill at Gordon Leven who has seen what happens to my track tyres. I will work on my throttle control.
  12. Test fitted some 295 30 18 on a 9.5" rim. Very close. Can't tell. Tyre will bulge more than the 10.5" rim they will eventually be on so who knows? With more camber, may even fit!! 30 profile helps too. Won't be driving on the street like this. Don't want them to scrape on the inside guard at the circuit either. Will they fit without resorting to flares?
  13. I used the AP Dot 5.1 and Liquid intelligence on the street/track for many years. A good combo for street/track duties. You want 300 deg C min for a decent track fluid in these cars though. I'm currently using Project Mu 335. Highest dry boiling point out there. Expensive though. The Castrol SRF stuff is good too if you don't change it as often due to the higher wet bp. Wet bp becomes more significant with time as water is attracted to brake fluid. I gave up on street/track pads a while back and have separate pads for circuit. Important to flush prior to every track day too. Important to floss when dating a hot chick for the first time too.............
  14. Now trying to move to 295's all round, still with 18". Selling the Z214 in pairs if anyone interested. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/252056476708 Concentrating more on aero and matching my lap times on street tyres. Hopefully competing in the NSW Time Attack next year.
  15. As mentioned, stock springs will fit better and be faster at the drags. Could always roll rear guards if lowered. Will fit then. Adding neg camber will make the car slower at the drags at the rear due to less contact patch as the car squats down further. My drag rims/tyres are the same size, but +35 offset. Need a spacer though.
  16. Looking at the new Work T7R. Come in +12 offset too. Eventually will look at fitting 18 X 10.5" on the front as well. Rolled and cambered of course, just for track days only.
  17. So got pissed one night and bought a set of 4 x 295 30 18" Yoko A050 on ebay in soft compound. The softs are great for Hillclimbs and winter track days as long as you're careful not to get them too hot doing too many supersprint laps. Need to fit them, starting with rears first. Circuit rims are 18 X 9.5" +22 offset all round. See thread here: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/85736-pics-of-275s-all-round-for-circuit/ My street rim rears are 18 X 9.5 +35 offset. 285 18" (30 or 35) tyres fit fine. To fit 295 30 18" tyres, I will need an 18 X 10.5" rim. +22 offset that will sit 13mm further out than my current street rims. Due to 1" width increase, the rims will sit 12.7mm further in. This in theory will make sure it doesn't hit inner suspension links. OK for the inside? My rear guards have already been rolled. 275 35 18 tyres fit comfortably at +22 offset. 285 very close. 295 won't I'm guessing unless the guards are pulled out even further. Will the lower 295 30 18 profile help? Any recommendation for pulling the guards out a bit more or are flares the only option?
  18. Pumped for Friday! Ford have a strong team this round. Nigel "Rosie" in his Motec equipped BA XR6T will be very quick I reckon. The GT40 may lay down an 1.08 too. For me, first time here on R-specs in years and the goal is to go 1-1.5sec within my grooved slick time. I'm hoping for a mid, low 9. Newcomer Dave in his FG GT is hoping for 1.10's on street tyres and I reckon he will go close. A lot of development has gone into his car in the last 12 months. Let's hope it doesn't snow!
  19. It's an awesome amateur club level series. The Fords really shine in the last round ,at the airport drags too.
  20. 73mm to 70.5mm centric hub ring. Alloy better than plastic if you take the wheels off regularly and do track days. Alloy ones are more durable and cope better with the heat.
  21. Talking about 18 X 10.5 not fitting, not 19".
