  1. Getting pumped for June 22nd at Wakefield. New power steering fluid and a brake fluid bleed and it's ready to go. New rear tyres and one day old fronts. Hoosier R7.
  2. Excellent! It's great to see some more Barra Turbo's out there. Was minus 3 deg last winter driving to the track at 7am. Intake temps won't be a problem.
  3. These attach to the roll cage in later build episodes.
  4. Thanks mate. The small front splitter is from HO Phase auto's. https://www.facebook.com/HOphasepage/?fref=ts The larger splitter I attach only for track days as it scrapes everywhere is from JSAI. They custom made the first one for my FG, Same with the cannards. The rear wing was from Ebay. Carbon Fibre but was very weak. Had it strengthened with extra CF by JSAI too. The stock height of the wing from ebay was useless too. I had the supports custom made by a local engineering shop with a water jet cutter. PM for more details. Nulon Nationals is a great series. It moved away from what it was originally though, which was for street registered cars that could do well in many disciplines. Circuit/drags etc. Now it's full of unregistered trailer queens on all the teams with different cars each round suited to specific disciplines. Consequently, the cars are VERY fast now. I'm lucky to finish mid pack I was too scared to do the Bathurst round this year but regret it now. Looked awesome! (I'd want a cage before really committing though. ) I'll be doing the SMP round late July with a GT40, Motec BA and a Supercharged TS AU in the team. Maybe that ute too. This thing is a weapon! http://www.nulonnationals.com.au/2016/03/10/xr6-turbo-ute-part-1/ Next day for me is June 22nd at Wakefield with trackschool.
  5. Rear guards rolled. The car has a camber adjustment arm that allows about 2 deg max negative. Anymore and toe adjustment is affected too much and rear drive is limited.
  6. The front wheels are Work XT7 18 x 10.5" +22 with 285 30 18 Hoosier R7's. They fitted well with 3.5 neg camber and guard roll. To compensate for lateral tyre flex I also used a 3mm spacer effectively making the front offsets +19. Rears SSR Type C 9.5" +22 275 35 18. Rear tyres were really old. Got them for free. Thanks Nigel (Rosie) This made the car lift off over steer beautifully across the top part of the track but initial drive was lacking coming onto the straight and out of turn 2. Awesome, controllable drifting with this set up and truetrac LSD. Just not ideal for a 1.07. Load rating is very low on the Hoosiers but car is stripped. Pressures recommended by Hoosier are also much higher than a normal grooved slick. 40psi hot! I usually run 30psi hot with a slick or 35 psi hot with r specs.
  7. Did Wakefield on Sunday again but yet another 1.08.2!! Buying 2 new tyres and will try again June 22nd at a Trackschool day.
  8. The wing did nothing until I raised it about 3". Went with a rectangular sheet first before having it water jet cut into the thing of beauty you see below
  9. It has square aluminum sheets for the bolt holes on the inside too.
  10. Putting the wing on tomorrow before the drive down to Wakefield (trackday Sunday) Can see the downforce dents from last time. Have added a base plate to even the load. Inside of boot has aluminium plates added too. For the record, I don't drive the car around like this every day. Try and avoid looking like an idiot. 99% of the time it looks like every other FGXR6T, unless you look very closely.
  11. I know of lot of the ST guys and have attended one of their days at Marulan a while back. In fact, one the quickest in an RS Focus just moved to Brisbane for work. PM me if you want to get in touch. Pretty sure he does QR and Lakeside.
  12. Lower pressure bonnet gas struts solved the problem. Black fibreglass bonnet much lighter and warped with stock struts.
  13. Prepped Motorsport. They set up a lot of circuit cars in Sydney. Very knowledgeable group of guys/mechanics. I trust them with any custom circuit mods.
  14. Will get pics before I put wing on next. Only goes on driving to and from track. Otherwise, I feel judged.......:) That was before the lighter bonnet gas struts went on. Black bonnet is much lighter. Stock struts (for metal bonnet) have so much lift pressure they warp the black one. http://imgur.com/a/yrm5E <-- Album link
  15. There are so many different factors at each trackday it's hard to quantify. Still experimenting, looking for tenths based my current skill level and the inevitable diminishing "ball size" with age. I'll be able to answer this when I go for the 1.07 on May 15th. Aero should make a bigger difference at SMP late July with the Nulon nationals. Speeds at Wakefield aren't that quick compared to SMP. The rear aero works. At mid setting the supports have already dented my boot. Have just been unlucky so far with traffic and car probs to set the lap time I want with the aero on. Can see my Etag in that lower shot
  16. I have more pics but my upload limit is still only .03MB or 30kb. I have contacted mods with no answer, and have also donated once again to the forum. How do I upload bigger pics? Thanks.
  17. I always drive to the track. Pack 6 track wheels in the car along with a plethora of track spares. My car is road registered. Bonnet goes on a few days before. Pads, camber changed. Battery, seats removed etc. Aero goes on day before.
  18. Definitely not on a relatively small circuit like Wakefield. Last thing I've been wanting is more power. Coolant gets too hot, too laggy on corner exit, and earlier braking points are required. To be honest, I never use full steering lock at the circuit even getting in and out of pit garage. The power steering fluid gets hot enough even with a much bigger PS cooler. 3.5neg camber, rolled front guards and +19 offset helps.
  19. Mid range is very strong in 3rd gear and have to be very smooth, progressive with throttle application on corner exit.
  20. Only have one pair of 10.5" rims at the moment. 285's at the front will provide better braking and turn in with a bit of lift off oversteer across the top. Entry speed will be a bit higher with the stickier fronts.
  21. Serious assault at the 1.07 on Sunday May 15th with the Nissan Sporting Car club. Should get some clear laps in hopefully. First serious attempt with the GTX3576R on E85 in cooler temps. High volume finned ZF sump and some chassis alignment tweaks the only other changes. 285 R7 Hoosiers on the front, 275 on the back. Been trying for about 5 years now.
  22. If it helps, I have used 18 X 10.5 on the back of my FG. Rear guards rolled though. 265 and 275 clear. 285 30 18 very close and 295 30 18 needs a lot of camber and 10mm more ride height, stiff rear springs to reduce compression.
