  1. 1.38.3 for a conservative first visit. Awesome track. I'll be back chasing a 36 or 37.
  2. Have been using Porsche cup slicks on and off since 2012. 240 250 270, many different compounds. To be honest, never liked their unpredictability and squidgy feeling if that makes sense. Nothing, then everything with too much body roll for my set up. So sensitive to pressures/camber/heat cycles and generally a big headache in an 1800kg car. Always used slicks when racing my ZX7R back in the mid 90's at Amaroo and Oran Park though. Much prefer the A050's and R7's (depending on event rules) I have been using recently from an enjoyment stand point. The R7's require high pressures to work well though. PDF from Hoosier dicates over 40psi hot!!.......... which is very different to any other R-spec/grooved slick I've used. https://philstireservice.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Hoosier-A7-R7-Tire-Care.pdf (Obviously a full slick Carcass requires no where near that pressure, closer to 30psi or under) R specs I run at 35 psi hot approx. Depending on under steer/oversteer on the day.
  3. Looking forward to my first try at Winton next weekend on November 5th. The track looks really good after the re surface. These Hoosier R7's (grooved slick radial) continue to impress. Will be the 4th track day on them. They were expensive but worth it as I have taken good care of them. Initial heat cycling and wrapping after evert track day. They slide very predictably. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=hoosier+r7&FORM=HDRSC2
  4. More importantly, these Pro Class cars were on road legal A050 tyres. V8 Supercars run slicks. (I.e. they'd probably run 1min19 on green slicks) The quickest road registered car in Clubsprint was Dan's Civic that did 1min39. My car would be lucky to break 1min50 on the 180 tread wear AD08R's in Clubsprint.

  6. I've been building my FGXR6T as a track car for 8 years. "Rosie" on this forum has a also built an even quicker car than mine and uses it for Regularitys at Bathurst and Phillip Island. It is a BAXR6T with a Motec Dash and baffled sump. Too many mods to list. A bit like mine. Have a quick read here.
  7. I shift manually but only because the car is more settled mid turn in a higher gear. Also depends on your torque levels as the last thing you want is it downshifting at corner exit. I advise keeping the car in PER for the first few track days though as it keeps the ZF a bit cooler and frees the mind up for more important things like apex hitting and smooth, early throttle application.
  8. If that app allows you to set alarm then use that feature set at max volume or you wont hear it. Set it before the day as you don't want to be adjusting gauges on the day. I used to use Torque and Dash Command, then my Aeroforce gauge but never rreally looked at it on track to be honest. Too busy looking ahead on the track. The Watch dog sensor alarms are the only ones I found useful. Good idea to have a separate pair of track only Race front brake pads if you will be doing more track days. Depends on budget. A wheel alignment makes a huge difference too. As much neg camber you can get at front (I use up to 4deg) 1mm toe out at front too. Depends on your set up.
  9. First track day, just get out there and enjoy it.:) Brakes and tyres will be the first thing to slow the fun down. Is the car stock? FPV with gauges? Don't do 10 hard laps and force the car into limp mode. It's usually the ZF that overheats first but if you have the stock ZF heat exchanger engine coolant should mirror ZF fluid temps. I recommend something like this as a gauge. Pre set alarm you set at say 115deg C. That way you never have squint to look at gauges doing 200kmh, and can enjoy yourself more knowing you aren't destroying the car. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ENGINE-GUARDIAN3-EG3-WATCHDOG-TEMPERATURE-OVERHEATING-ALARM-SENSOR-PROTECTION-/182176690208?hash=item2a6a93b020:g:DhwAAOSwxCxT8Vp6 Bare minimum, do an engine oil, brake fluid bleed/change with better front pads/slotted rotors if possible. Leave the car in PER auto mode. Don't change manually as your brain will need the processing speed for braking and turn in points if first time. Don't do too many laps at once. Do a cool down lap every few laps, allow temps to settle brakes to cool, expecially at the end. (Keep an eye in rear vision mirror and wave people past during cool downs or follow whatever protocol for the particular track) After session:Open bonnet in pits, don't pull handbrake on. I can go into a huge amount of more detail keeping temps down, but need more info from you.
  10. Forgot to mention the fact that after market diffs like Kaaz work very well with manuals too, especially braking when slightly off centre. Really help settle the car when tipping in at the limit. Auto's don't have this luxury.
  11. Manual T will always be a bit faster around a track. Less drivetrain power loss in 3rd/4th. Maybe slower at Marulan though with a lot of 2nd/3rd changes. Really looking forward to my first try at Winton this November 5th with Circuit club.
  12. Definitely not. GTR is 4WD and 2 door though, if that is your point. I'm confident I could put an R35 GTR around Wakefield in a 1.05 all day. Much, much easier car to drive at the limit. None of these road car times below mean anything as they are all on road tyres. My car is heavily modified and with me driving does 9's on road tyres, 8's on semi's and now 7's on R7's. I'm certain a professional driver with less mechanical sympathy could extract another second off my times at least. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CsBzSLFLTpNItMmdjiS6wvyJO8mBOtpL_82AgzYnqcs/edit#gid=0
  13. Can you post the pics up? Thanks mate. In the glowing rotor one, you can see the lower finned ZF sump under the car from the side.
  14. Finally a 1.07.386 at Wakefield in a Street registered Falcon! I think it's the quickest street registered, 4 door 2WD to lap there. Of any make/model. Ever! Brakes fried. http://imgur.com/a/ETYe6
  15. The red/white Porsche went past at a dent pace, but probably expecting to pass more quickly. I was running a 400rwkw tune with decent entry onto straight. The low weight and sequential box in that beetle was on another level though. Wakefield top speed is well under 230kmh though.
  16. 295 fit on the back with a 10mm higher height but changes rake angle for the worse. Don't have toe adjustment at the back as too much neg camber forced toe out too much.
  17. <-blockquote> Tested the final design at the Nulon Nationals at SMP GP yesterday and it worked flawlessly, even at 230kmh. First few laps waited to hear a big "crack" but all good. Car has never felt more planted through T1. 295's on the front, 265 on the back transformed the car. http://imgur.com/a/fitbq
  18. Only the red/white one. Either a Cup or GT car? Came up on everything else in the group like they were standing still doing flat 60 sec laps. Black turbo was passed easily.
  19. Got overtaken...............on the straight. It sucked. http://imgur.com/a/aDadt
  20. Have more pics to upload but over MB limit again
  21. 2 more pics from the June track day. Was raining all morning but track dried pretty well by lunch time. 1st session on black ice with r7 grooved slicks were 1min 40 laps with brown undies.

  23. PB'd with a 1.08.07 (3rd fastest out of 60 cars) and agonizingly close the the 1.07 goal. Back out again in July hopefully. Congrats to ello678 for a pb too with a very quick time in a near stock car. Few pics to follow as soon as I get them.
