Pics Of 275's All Round For Circuit
nelsonian101 replied to nelsonian101's topic in Wheels and Tyres
The intercooler is a Stepped PWR. I always do a careful cool down lap, open bonnet and use a floor industrial fan when parking in pits. Winter circuit days are fine to get enough cool air onto the intercooler/radiator and I don't often spend much time behind cars in warmer air. A watchdog temp sensor with coolant alarm keeps everything monitored on track. If coolant goes over 110deg, I back off or return to pits. -

Hopefully we get a few more Turbo Taxi's out there on the 7th. I saw one "stockish" blue FGXR6T at SMP yesterday but it was mainly WRX's and Evos as usual. -

SSR make their own unique centre bore rings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Vk0THb9NrY The wheels I have are 18" X 9.5" +22 offset all round. A 275/35 18 just fits on the back with 2deg neg camber. A 285 doesn't fit even with guards rolled at +22 on my low car. With a +35 offset you will be ok on the back of a sedan with 265's, but would scrape upper control arm on the front with these 275 tyres. Don't know if a 245 tyre would fit sorry. My front 275's just clear the inside and outside. Cant use full lock as the wheels rub on brake ducting and if anything less than 3 deg camber is used, they rub on the guards at the front with 275's. Currents setting are perfect for maximum grip. -

The SSR's are great. The 26mm wider track front and rear makes a big difference to stability. Retail for over $2500, but luckily found one set for $1800 after a lot of searching. Cant fault the Z214's. Have gone back to these after using Michelin Porche Cup Slicks for 2 years. Seem stronger. More predictable and last longer in medium. Re: SMP full track. VERY hard to get a full clear lap on the public days. Best recorded was a low 2min18 but easy 2min15 on the cards. A 1min49 would be my aim on the GP track. Time and time again would finally get a good run out onto the main straight and get the apex right at turn 1 (both crucial for a decent lap), when I would hit traffic. No fault of the HSV driver coming onto the circuit, just bad luck for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqE8UgkbVAM -

4 pots are fine for circuit work, even with slicks. 4 pots with race pads (Project MU H16 03 are unbelievable and I've tried just about everything else) with synthetic 300 deg plus fluid, will out brake 6 pots all day. I burn out a set of DBA5000's every year though. -
Finally got around to taking some pics of my new circuit wheels/tyres yesterday at SMP. SSR Type C 18 x 9.5" +22 offset. (semi forged) 275/35 18" Hankook Z214 C51 medium Same all round to allow tyre rotation and flipping as they are directional. Widest I think possible and still remain the same front and rear. Both front and rear guards rolled. 3.5 Neg Camber front. 2 deg neg rear. Very stiff springs and dampening to match. Front shows the small front splitter and front brake ducting covers (which are removed to improve airflow prior to hitting the circuit) The car now handles better than the majority of street registered Evo's with a bit of weight stripped. I am surprised how well balanced the car is now. Can be brought from slight understeer to slight over steer with the touch of throttle at the limit. Took 4 years of mods, but it is really handling nicely now. Looking forward to Wakefield September 7th!

Some of you NSW based drag racing cruisers should come down to Wakefield on September 7th. Just for a look, if you're too scared to go around corners...........

My FG sedan has 18 X 9.5 +22 all round with the circuit SSR Type C wheels and track Z214 275/35 18 rubber. Front needed guard roll and 3.5 neg camber to be safe. Rears were fine with 2 deg neg camber and a guard roll but my car is very low. My rears scrubbed with 285/30 18 with +35 offset. One side only. Diff cradle was out. Camber under 1 deg neg.

nelsonian101 replied to Track Day Club's topic in Drag and Circuit Racing
Wakefield I am assuming? I would normally be very keen, but may be bad timing because a few of us are already booked in for September 7th. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/85185-wakefield-park-circuit-club-september-7th/ -
Think the closest is : United Shoalhaven 215 Kinghorne St,Nowra or Caltex Eflex 1403 Princes Hwy Heathcote

My current set up has been through trial and error over 5 years and speaking to more experienced members on this forum. 2008 fgxr6t. The car is my daily driver, has now done 205,000kms and the 3 baby seats are removed for track days along with the entire back seat and spare wheel.! Current track wheels are SSR Type C 18 X 9.5" +22 offset with 275/35 Hankook Z214 grooved slicks all round. To get these to fit both front and rear guards are rolled. Rear neg camber 2deg and 3.5 neg front. Track is 26mm wider front are rear than stock. Small front splitter. Front springs are 1000lb Eiback. Revalved bilsteins. Rear 400lb Lovell 400lb approx. Solid Selby front sway bar, Whiteline adjustable rear. All swaybar links upgraded. Superpro diff bushes. Front upper control arm bushes also done plus others. Truetrac diff. Royal purple oils. 4 pot Brembo front brakes with Project Mu H16 03 pads changed night before along with front camber. Brake fluid Synthetic over 310deg boiling point. Brake ducting. Engine is unopened. PWR stepped intercooler. Herrod pipe kit. Bigger intank pump, 2 x Bosch 044's into surge tank into duel fuel rail and fuel regulator. ID1000's. Eflex E85. 4" turbo side intake. Stock turbo with rebuilt steel bearings. Turbo oil line filter. Approx 300rwkw. 5" 100cpi cat. Stock dump/exhaust. ZF air cooler under left chassis rail and engine oil cooler fed by left foglight removal. Engine watchdog alarms on coolant and transmission. All I can think of at the moment! Car is a classic sleeper that now surprises a lot of circuit modified Evo's! -

Still bigger than Marulan. www.mdtc.com.au Only takes 43 sec to get around though!

I think that is Ray Hislops BF Falcon. http://www.streetfords.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=3719 Over 650hp 351ci Windsor block with a V8 Supercar top end (Yates heads, trumpet induction). Tyres in IPRA trim are 265/35/18 A048R semi-slicks.
-
sorry missed last line of your post. I only know in my car the rear LHS was a little lower than the right. Purely due to diff cradle.

Is it the diff?

July 12th works for me. Good work mate!

Speed of the Streets days are always good for beginners. They are pretty casual but there's no briefing, so you are pretty much thrown in the deep end with a big speed difference between road registered cars. http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/event-details?event=868 http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/wp-content/plugins/Event-MAnagement/files/868-sos%20rules.pdf Plenty of dates: http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/calendar Circuit club is great if you're chasing an official lap time in a road registered car as they have Natsoft timing. Last time I went their I had a boost leak dynoed later at under 200rwkw, so I am keen to redeem myself June 10th! http://www.circuitclub.com.au/page/home-page Here's a rough idea of laptimes at the Circuit club days. Most cars are heavily modified for the circuit though. Scroll down to 25.4.13 http://racing.natsoft.com.au/results/#1 On the Turbo Taxi day, I reckon timing may have to be kept quiet if it's a Public day. I use Race Chrono with a 5Mhz GPS receiver via Bluetooth. Will work with any old Nokia phone or similar. http://www.racechrono.com/ Harry's Lap timer also works on Iphone.

The straight line speed of these cars when modified in nothing short of phenomenal! FF 2min25 demonstrates this:
