  1. High 30's will be fine with your Pilot Sports hot. The R888's I lent you that day would require slightly lower pressure being an R spec.
  2. In my experience they nearly always forecast rain there 7 days out. Forecast is pretty accurate 2-3 days out. However, even it rains in Goulburn, often doesn't rain at Wakefield about 10km away. Even it it does, usually get at least one dry session. All that is usually required for a quick lap.
  3. If you sprayed the rear leaf bolts with wd4o and tightened them, noise went away then came back. Soultion: respray and retighten. Front end noise: Change front wheel bearings.
  4. Looking forward to it! Bare minimum make sure your engine oil, brake fluid and front pads are in good condition/new. Before each track day I have the oil/filter changed. Change my front track brake pads, front camber and front ride height, fit a front splitter. Every few track days have the diff oil, plugs, fuel filter, brake fluid flush and power steering fluid changed. Strip all loose stuff out of the car. Check tyre pressures and tighten wheel nuts. Just relax and enjoy your car at speeds that simply cannot be done on public roads. That's what it's all about. If interested in your own data logging, use Harry's Lap timer on iphone or I use Racechrono on an old Nokia with an external 5Mhz GPS via Bluetooth. Not necessary as they will give you a timing device Transponder that you fit to your car. (front or drivers door pocket) Basic Itinerary for circuit club days. I recommend getting there earlier than you think. I get there around 7.15am. Takes me about an hour to unpack and set the car up (wheel change etc) I highly recommend the track walk at 8am. You actually drive your own car around and park at each corner on the track and listen to the pro advice. Sign in etc First session is usually the fast group. (Me and 10 evo's...... ) This is an untimed practice session. I use it simply to warm the tyres and check track conditions. Think I did a 1min25 last time. Every Evo in the field overtakes me and I happily wave them past. I keep the esp tc on first session too. I come straight into the pits as the car doesn't get that hot this session and adjust hot tyre pressure straight away. Check wheel nut torque. 9.15am approx. group 2 warm up then 9.30am group 3 then 9.45am group 4 warm up. First session is simply a warm up. Take it easy. The Renault Nationals are on the same day so expect a lot of fast modified Meganes and Clio's. They may have there own group? Not sure yet. 10am approx. is my first timed session. I'll aim for 2 warm up laps and then for 2 hot laps, cool down lap and then out of the complex onto the highway for a better brake cooldown. Into the pits bonnet up and fan on intercooler then front brakes. Check tyre pressures again. I run the low boost tune am 15psi and if all is good, I try the 17psi tune pm and hope for that pb!
  5. On the street I use a staggered set up with 18 X 8.5 +30 front (245-40 Good year Asymmetric) and a safe 18 X 9.5 +35 rear (275 or 285 street semi). Camber is returned to stock settings. Wide fronts aren't required for the street because you cant drive fast enough legally to really push the front end. Hurt economy too. Rear guards may need to be rolled though if fitting a 285 rear but it depends on a lot of factors. There is panty of info in the FG offsets forums.
  6. My fgxr6t is quicker than the majority of evo X's I see, even on circuit. People really underestimate what they are capable of. Need to spend $$ though. They just need very stiff suspension, big brakes, neg camber and 275's all round. When you're done, it's probably less comfortable than an Evo anyway, but you wont get the awesome sleeper effect leaving people scratching their heads On the road, roll on speed is much quicker in the Falcon. It's surprisingly nimble even at very tight tracks light Marulan which is really a go cart track. When set up correctly, the FgXr6T will keep with an Evo in the mountains easily (just due to the instant punch alone out of turns the little turbo is capable of on E85 and massive rear tyres) unless you are doing way over the speed limit in the twisties on a public road, which in my opinion is stupid anyway. However, If I didn't need the space the back seat offer with 3 kids under 5, I'd go the Evo....even with it's ridiculously tiny sub woofer stuffed boot. For the non believers.......... http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/85736-pics-of-275s-all-round-for-circuit/page-2
  7. What has more lag? GTX3576R or the FG F6 turbo GT3540?
  8. My FGXR6T is over 5 years old and has done 215,000kms and over 20 circuit days. It is getting hotter than usual at the track now and I am considering a new radiator. Are there any aftermarket larger ones available or just replace with another stock one?
  9. Did you guys get in? Going not paid: 1 - mcinnes 2 - DD-XR-6T Pretty sure it is sold out. onto a standby list.
  10. Have spoken to him but it was a one off design. Has not been able to get the same parts to reproduce. Hoping there were some others out there.
  11. After speaking to few engineering shops, looks like it is more involved/expensive than I had originally anticipated:( Does anyone have more info on where to get the paddle shift kits? Wonder if this would work? http://ecci6000.com/proddetail.asp?prod=4000-420-436B&from=ALL
  12. I agree re peak power. I usually use 300-320rwkw which is plenty. How does the GTX compare to the BF turbo for low end spool up time and power out of turns post apex?
  13. Well done! That is getting quick. Any more mods? Where was the time made up?
  14. Couple of interesting vids (old but good if haven't seen) here on Wakefield tuition: Useful circuit driving info here too: http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38950
  15. This was made for a manual, but something like this for a ZF would be ideal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbX0KuLoQv4&feature=player_embedded
  16. Also applied for postal vote. The car will be ready to rock and roll in a few weeks. Really looking fwd to it. May even remove the passenger seat to save a bit of weight too. Keeping the stock FG seat for now with 4 point harness as it's so comfy on my old skinny ass on the drive down from Sydney.
  17. If you are in Sydney, I thoroughly recommend CATS in Rosebery. Central Auto Transmissions. Just for a simple ZF oil change and filter and heat exchanger. If this car has not had it's ZF oil changed, I'd be guessing the diff oil hasn't been changed either. Car will feel great after this.
  18. Damn! You coming out to Wakefield on Sat Sept 7th? Even to hang out in the pits, would be good to meet up. Should be 5-10 FPV/ XR6T there hopefully, taking it to the Import boys How much are the manifolds approx.?
  19. I am not sure how the ratio's for the 4 speed compare to the ZF6, but I was thinking there was no way the 3582 would be stronger between 2 and 3,000rpm. Maybe I'm wrong?
  20. Maybe not off idle, but for expanding exit turns like turn 2 at Wakefield Park, instant performance between 2,000- 3,000rpm is very beneficial for the run up the hill.
  21. Cant say I have ever driven a 3582 on e85 tuned for low grunt, but cannot see it possibly being quicker off idle to 3000rpm than my current set up, but I could be wrong. Would love to test drive a gtx3582 though? Any offers in Sydney?
  22. How many kms and has the zf oil/pan filter ever been changed?
