  1. I hear what you're saying (and on paper it is correct), but I was speaking generally. (also countered by rear bar adjustments) In my circuit experience, and I have quite a bit in these cars, I've tried a lot of things to reduce understeer. Slight increase in front tyre pressure and dropping the rear pressure slightly helps. Reducing the front spring rate and front sway bar size works on paper but in general this doesn't make the car handle better overall in my opinion. Meaning, you can't change one thing on a stockish car and expect all negative aspects of handling to be resolved. More front negative camber, front toe out and castor works wonders. If you want it to handle, speak to V8 brute ute racers or the professionals that set them up. By the sounds of things though, a set of Asymmetrics will solve all your problems for street use (and slower speed) in the wet.
  2. I also recommend the Goodyear Asymmetrics in the wet. The Falcons need a bigger front sway bar to handle.
  3. Had my rota grids on for 2 years as my road rims. Can't justify light expensive rims for the daily street as there's always the chance of scratching them. Don't care if I scratch my rota's 9.5" at the back with 275 semi's. Dark gun metal. No probs at all. Even used them as my circuit wets. Like most aftermarket rims they have a 73mm centre bore. Will need centric hub rings though. 70.3mm - 73mm. Ebay always have them. Alloy are better but plastic do the job too. Help you centre the wheel when doing up lock nuts and eliminate vibration/chance of failure.
  4. Don't know where to post this. Had a very well respected racer/mechanic put this idea into my head the other day. The car is a Falcon FGXR6T on E70-E85 with a lot of mods. Doesn't make a huge amount of power but the low down torque where most of the driving is done, is obscene. What probably doesn't help the torque transfer on the chassis is the 275 Grooved slicks I use at the circuit, and 285 R888's is use on the road as a daily. Diff bushes are upgraded to aftermarket and it has a Truetrac diff. This is the 2nd windscreen I have cracked. Starts at the top left passenger side and gradually ends up at the bottom. Has anyone else experienced this and is chassis bracing available for FG Falcons? (Front coolant overflow bottle looks to be in the way for a front strut brace)
  5. Noise has now miraculously vanished...........don't know why.
  6. See what happened to mine early last year. Post #20 Soft sidewalls. Wouldn't get them again. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/78471-michelin-pilot-supersport-for-rears/?hl=%2Bmichelin+%2Bfor+%2Bpilot+%2Brears#entry1228774
  7. Forgot to mention this and strange that you reminded me, that's exactly what I did just prior to them getting noisier.
  8. Any one else found their 044's getting louder with time?
  9. Recently my twin 044's have become noisier than usual, at even at idle. This used to happen in summer when I ran a 98 tune but it is also occurring now on E70 and E85 even when the engine and fuel/pumps are cold. Do these pumps have a limited life span or could it be the rubber mounts? Most of the time my daily driven car is run on Eflex Guessing I've done around 80,000kms with these fuel pumps.
  10. That sucks. Maybe next time, or buy a Renault.......... Sometimes it helps to approach the photographers to make sure they get your car too. I scraped in........just, pic 98!
  11. Actually have a 4" intake already (Turbo side intake) with a Silicone reducer into my stock 0.5 cover. Just thought it would be cheaper to use my existing 0.5 cover, get it machined to fit the GTX3576R compressor wheel, and retain the advantage of fast spool up.
  12. I thought they were cheaper if just the core was purchased using my existing 0.5 cover and reboring it. Does the 0.7 cover provide slower spooltime?
  13. This one near the old Oran Park will probably go ahead though. http://www.caradvice.com.au/225843/luddenham-raceway-planned-for-nsw-in-october/
  14. I. think the stock housing also needs to be machined a bit to fit the larger compressor wheel of the GTX
  15. I am also considering a new GTX3576R core. Keep my original 0.50 housing and get it machined to fit the slightly larger compressor wheel. Might also need an external Waste Gate to keep boost fairly even across the range.
  16. It was the "2013 Renault Nationals" on the last track day at Wakefield. When I got home to clean my Turbo side 4" K&N pod filter intake, I found not one, but 2 Clio Sports in the bottom of the airbox. I kid you not........ True story!
  17. 2 piece brake rotors with alloy centre. Dry Cell Battery. Fibre glass boot and bonnet now available. 2014 Falcon aluminium doors may fit? Remove all seats. (disconnect battery before doing the fronts) Rear seat backrests are heavy. Replace drivers seat with light weight bucket race seat. Forged wheels. Empty windscreen washer bottle. Get a haircut, go for a jog, dump, and have sex with the wife.....................
  18. I have a lot of pad experience. .....and not the feminine hygiene kind... It's definitely the pads. Trust me, it's the pads. Did I say it's the pads? Don't trust that mechanic and the Brembo rep either knows stuff all or simply wants a pad sale. 2 choices: 1. Go to a 100km/h zone with little traffic behind you for a long way. Do 5 X 100km/h to 50km/h stops. Don't be shy, jump on that pedal. If ABS doesn't activate you aren't pushing hard enough. 2. If that doesn't improve things and probably won't then buy some other pads. PM me if you want another option. I have heaps of half worn Brembo pads that will get you out of trouble in the mean time if required.
  19. Think they are overseas on the Nurburg Ring trip, so may take a while.
  20. Some greats shots by Angel#3. Thanks mate. Congrats on your 1min 15 with a pretty much stock G6E turbo, still on factory Dunlops even! Even with the 1000lb front springs, surprising how far the nose still dives. I did lower it another 10mm though to try out. Overtake some slow "race cars". The straight line punch from these cars is unmatched. Front negative camber of 3.5deg really helps with high speed turn in confidence at turn 1.
  21. Excellent pics Aaron! Looking fwd to the next one. Will be with a Race Seat, Light vented bonnet and rotated tyres. Another quarter second and into the 7's! Hopefully will get more xr6t's out there next time.
  22. The S2000 from BYP is something special. Estimated 300+kw at wheels. 1200kg. It will compete in the World Time Attack at SMP later this year and will go close to taking out the top rwd spot in class. Most impressive thing of all was that it drove home. It is stripped, supercharged and very loud! They also have a Supercharged Integra that won the Open Class at both VIC Winton and NSW Wakefield with a flat 1min. Same with that little Civic. 900kg, 300+hp off a trailer. Cant really compete with that! The Late model camira was a full stripped race car off a trailer. V8 VZ I think. Just roll cage and seat interior. Pics of it will be up on the Circuit Club sight. It was set up to do a lot of laps where mine overheats within about 4 laps.
  23. Went out to Wakefield yesterday. Great weather. Shaved another 0.2sec off with a new 1.08.26. Not a lot of clear laps but enough to have a great time. The Z214's are still very good condition after 3 track days and I will flip them before next session due to inner/camber wear. Installing a fibreglass bonnet, custom vents and a race seat for next year. http://racing.natsoft.com.au/636746036/object_35368128.86U/Result?5 If link doesn't work - Circuit Club. Wakefield.
