  1. That is a massive improvement! Any changes to set up?
  2. 18 x 9.5 +35 rota grid r 275 35 18 Michelin pilot sports
  3. Right fog light removal feeds an ZF cooler with thermo fan. Left foglight removal a big engine oiler cooler. Little front splitter is available here: www.hointerceptor.com.au Maybe 20kg downforce max, but I like the look of it. Scrapes on my driveway though when the car is lowered at the front. Nightmare in carparks too.
  4. Just unpacking mate. Still charging the dry cell. Look closely and you can see the brake duct openings under the intercooler.
  5. Which track is it? What is your budget? You will find out VERY quickly how under braked and under tyred these cars, but it will still be fun. Bare minimum do a brake bleed and some better pads. Just about anything will be better at the track the stockers. Liquid Intelligence 318 fluid (Forum Mainlube sponsor) will hold up if you decide to change the fluid completely which is recommended. Do a cool-down lap and some cheap fans in the pits help too on the front. Leave the handbrake off all day. See pics.
  6. My track rims are already 18 X 9.5 +22 front and rear. 275 35 18" tyres. Front offset would be around +22 with the 10.5" rims too. Fronts have heaps of clearance with the camber. With 0.5 deg neg camber they did scrape on the inner guards though. With 3.5 neg on the front as I have on my track set up, 285 30 18 all round should work on 10.5" 18" rims. Touching the brake ducting is always a problem on my car and lock to lock steering is no longer possible, so compromises have to be made for performance. I then have access to some A050's, or do the State Time Attack round in Clubsprint class with some 285/30 18 RS3's or similar. Power steering system is stressed with the extra width too but I just change the synthetic power steering fluid more often. But you are right, front does have some poke!
  7. With an offset higher than 35 the problem is the inner rim doesn't clear on 18's. Fine for 19s and 20s though. My front and rear guards are rolled. 3.5 neg camber front and 2 neg rear.
  8. Not interested in 19 or 20" rims. More interested in the performance aspect and availability of circuit tyres. Hoping to run 285's all round next year on custom wheels. 10" at the back. 10.5" at the front.
  9. 285's will fit on a 18 x 9.5 +35 rim. Have these as my street rears. Always wanted to know this too re 10-10.5" width in 18". Most of the wider wheels experimentation seem to be 19 or 20". My rear track wheel are 18 x 9.5 +22 offset. 275/35 18 fitted with guard roll and 1.5 neg camber however a wide 285/30 18 r888 did not fit and scraped guards. Car in low though. I test fit a 18 x 10.5 +38 enkei but the wheel hit inner suspension components. Even my rear road wheels in 18 X 9.5 +35 go very close on the inner suspension arms. Wheel alignment wheel weights often get knocked off. I often run 285/30 18 or 285/35 18 on my rear road rims though and are fine with the +35 offset. A 285 on a 9.5 rim is in my opinion too much for a circuit rim due to tyre roll. My guess is a 18 x 10 rim at a +28 offset may work with a rear 285? Last auto saved: 11:39:07 AM
  10. There is a 15A fuse under the ignition/obd2 port inside the car. Maybe check/replace?
  11. For the street the PWR exchanger is the go. For extended circuit work, a big cooler with thermo fan is the only thing I have found that works.
  12. I've been a member for 2 years. Pays for itself if you attend track days and circuit racing events even as a spectator. World Time Attack is outstanding.
  13. If I were to do this again, I would have gone with AP's for sure.
  14. Hi mate, Just another idea for this weekend Sunday 25th. There is a timed Street Car shoot out out on at Marulan. www.mdtc.com.au Free entry and spectators more than welcome. I'll be competing in the FGXR6T and should hopefully be a few Fords there too.
  15. Where and when was this pic taken? Damn that looks like me and my car in the top right of this pic! I'd be keen to meet up at one of these in the future.
  16. If so, please contact me ASAP for details. NULON are looking for quick XR5's to participate in the Nulon Nationals July 4th. (Search for Nulon Nationals via Facebook.) Have a lot of experience here myself but in an XR6T. (See "Pics of 275's all round" in the Wheels/Tyres section for my car. (Can't see to paste link!) Thanks.
  17. That is an impressive improvement. Gets harder and harder each time. Seconds become tenths, tenths become hundredths. Don't you have a race seat or harness installed with the stock seat? If not, this is worth at least 0.5 sec.
  18. Try a few hard stops from 100kmh to 40kmh in a row. If squeal persists: Get someone to stand outside the car in a carpark, while you brake to determine if the squealing is coming from the front or rear. Change those pads. Any mechanic can change the rotors. Simple job.
  19. I had a guy install custom gas struts at a lower pressure for my lighter fibreglass race bonnet. The stock ones were making it warp. Sounds like you need ones with a bit more pressure. Call Edward Sing ph 0418 807 658
  20. In theory, a smaller rear sway bar with increase under steer. (decrease oversteer.) I have a lot of experience setting up bikes/cars for circuit work too. Trust me, just piss those front Invo's off and put on some fresh R1R's or AD0R's at the front. Problem solved.
  21. In that front tyre size look at: Yoko advan ad08r Toyo R1R Dunlop Direzza ZII Tirerack sells them cheaply. This will solve your understeer problems and still maintain some wet weather functionality.
