  1. $165 plus $20 postage. Cheap really. Got told yesterday slight delay in delivery from Ford.(surprise surprise) Should see it in about ten days time.
  2. Available from FTG auto something or other on ebay.
  3. It might pay to specify what your car is, how old it is and how many kms on it. My 06/08 FG XR6T has no problems at all. Only 1500kms on the clock but.
  4. The setting isn't in the ICC guys. It's in the LCD display menu on the dash. Go to the light setting menu and play around in there. I can't remember exactly where it is but it's in that menu somewhere. Read the owners manual for better instructions. The dash lights are also controlled by the sensor up on the centre of the dash console. That determines the function of the climate control and the incoming light into the car.
  5. Shunt or clunk is inevitable in a manual transmission equiped car. Some more than others. Due to the direct link between the crank and the diff there will always be some form of backlash, whereas an auto equipped car has the dampening effect of the torque convertor. For the amount of kms on my car I think the backlash/noise is acceptable. I'm a mechanic by trade and have heard a few clunky diffs/gearboxes in my experience, and mine is nothing like a clunky diff/gearbox. For the amount of torque going through it I fell as if it is an exceptional piece of engineering. The shift is fast and smoothe. No clunk as it goes in gear. And the throw of the shifter is quite good for a production gearbox. I can't compare it to the previous 6 speed as I haven't driven one, but the box in my car is more than acceptable in my opinion.
  6. Follow the service guide in your owners manual and you shouldn't have too many dramas.
  7. I've tried it twice so far. First time I pretty much just dumped the clutch. It bogged, surged forward a bit them hammered away. Bit like being chewed and then spat out. Not very successful. The second time I rode the clutch a bit till I got going. I think I rode it for too long though because there was this strange smell that all of a sudden appeared Clutch is still intact and good but need some more practice before I reckon I'll see the full effect of it. It's my first manual car in 12 years and I'm loving it. Really good transmission too.
  8. Mine was purchased in the Northern Territory with no trade in. And I live in W.A. I bought my car from the Territory due to the added savings of stamp duty and the dealer was more willing to come to the party than the W.A. dealers. Dealer delivery is $1600 in the Territory for those that are curious. More than W.A.
  9. I agree with not running a synthetic oil too early, but how can you determine too early? If you drive like a nanna then yes I'd agree, do 10000kms. But, if you run it hard for the first couple of thousand you should be right. Each to their own I guess.
  10. I had a MK1 BA XR6 and I reckon the steering wheel on my new car is better than that one. Not sure if it's larger in diameter but it feels more comfortable in the hands.
  11. Who says 1000kms is too soon to change your oil? Do you do 1000kms on a dyno before changing oil? I don't think so. I'm a mechanic by trade and I feel that the run in process I used plus the 1000kms of driving I did on the initial oil is plenty. I'm still using mineral oil at the moment but I won't hesitate to be putting in fully synthetic when I get to the 5k mark. Ambient temp where I live is generally high 30 degrees low 40's for most of the year and I would feel much more comfortable knowing I've got some added protection from oil breakdown due to high temps by using synthetic.
  12. XR6T Lightning Strike manual sedan. Premium audio, dashmat, front and rear mudspats and towpack. Drive away $46600.
  13. It all depends on how you run it in as to when you change your oil. I did 959kms of hard accelarating in fourth fifth and sixth and then changed my oil. I didn't go to fully synthetic however, and will probably change it again after about 5000kms. I will then be running fully synthetic oil for the rest of it's life.
  14. I've done about 1500kms in mine mostly highway driving in the Territory to run it in. When sitting on 140km/hr over 500kms I returned an average of 12.3l/100kms. There was quite a few bursts to 180km/hr to overtake the grey nomads on the road this time of year, but nothing too drastic. Mine's manual and all overtaking work was done in fifth upshifting to sixth once past traffic and decelarating back to the 140km/hr cruise control setting. Then cruising at 110km/hr I noticed it would only ever get above 10l/100kms every once in a while, but mostly high eights/low nines. All in all I think the fuel consumption is great for an engine with this much power and a car with that much weight.
