  1. I use Penrite SIN 15. 15w40 Comes down to personal preference and if it's still under warranty, meeting the Ford specs.
  2. Same question again though. Why would you fit it to your turbo? You need the air to go through a filter first. The shaker assembly doesn't appear to incorporate a filter in it. You will still need to plumb it to the airbox.
  3. Any capable panel beater should be able to cut the hole in the bonnet for you. When you say 'after market cooler' I'm assuming you mean intercooler. If that's the case, why would you fit it to your intercooler? This is for air pre-turbo.
  4. I bought mine off ebay in the states. Might be worth a look.
  5. Don't be concerned mate. They are tested to pretty high pressure levels. I think I read somewhere they are tested to 300 odd psi. I've got one on mine and done over 8000kms. No dramas at all.
  6. Someone should sticky this in the General Tech section. Makes life a bit easier to explain things to non mechanicaly minded people.
  7. Warranty reasons. Also, it's too hard for me to get an edit done where I live. Unless there's any reputable tuners in Darwin, my next bet is Perth. Bit unrealistic to drive there and back just for an edit. I'm more curious as to what it's going to cost me as I'll fit it myself.
  8. 9kW isn't bad. Is this on an FG though?
  9. Does anyone know who does a complete cat back system for the new XR6T sedan. I'm after supplier details, cost and power/economy gains if possible.
  10. Load of crap. Brakes don't squeal just because they're new. How do you brake? Do you apply firmly or ride them like a nanna? If the brakes are new and were riden like a nanna they are probably glazed. This will cause the squealing sound. A lot of different factors could be contributing to the squeal. eg. type of pad, disc condition, glazed pads. Check all of these out.
  11. Not entirely true. It all depends on how much oil is being used. If it's using a fair bit of oil get Ford to do an oil consumption test on it and go from there. That's what I'd be pushing for if mine was using oil and I could pin point it to blow by.
  12. Google it mate. You'll get a better in depth description.
  13. Like Mike XR6T said, if it's bad the only way to get rid of it is to replace your piston rings, but if your going to do that you might as well rebuild the engine. Cheapest way to stop the oil issue is fit a catch can, but you can't 'improve' blow-by. Another side effect of blow by is low power due to the rings not sealing correctly therefore you end up with less compression. This all equates to less power and more oil consumption.
  14. Not sure about dun, but I would say you don't have anything to lose sleep over.
  15. Should do somewhere between 230 and 245rwkW. With a tune alone somewhere near the 280rwkW mark. 0-100 times will depend on manual or auto and how good of a driver you are.
  16. So far so good. I've done 8200kms on mine and rotated them at 5000kms. They have excellent grip in the dry and I'll reserve comment for wet weather grip for when it starts raining here. I rotate my tyres every 5000kms. If anything they may be slightly noisy on the road.
  17. Um. What oil? That's near on next to nothing mate. If your worried about that I'd hate to see a real leak. In all seriousness though, I'd stick the pipe bak on and keep driving. Just keep an eye on your oil level and tailpipe and enjoy your car.
  18. Sounds too cheap to be true. I'd be asking what's wrong with it.
  19. I hope the engine was cheap. Not to mention the engineering involved in getting it registered. Why would you fit a GM engine? Yeah it's different, but why not stick with something from Ford? eg a diesel from the F250 or Courier or something? Very very odd.
  20. It's not oil running down the compressor housing either, just stained with dust. No big deal, I'm not losing sleep over it. If I was to see oil though, that would be a different story.
  21. I'm a mechanic by trade and to me that's minimal. It is a very dusty environment where I live and I haven't cleaned my engine bay since I bought the car. I've not noticed the oil level on my dipstick dropping either, but as you can see from the pic it's not wet either. Dust just makes it look worse than it really is.
  22. Like I said before mate, post a picture so we can get an idea. If it's the same as mine I wouldn't worry about it. If there is oil dripping off it then I'd get it checked out. Also, the pic was taken from the top of the engine bay. Blowby can be bad for your engine, but it depends on how bad it is. If your not sure, go and get someone to check it out.
  23. That would depend if your dislexic. Haha. Or could be seen as Oh wise one?
  24. Um. OK. When's he going to build a big horsepower XR6T engine?
  25. Now that can't have been too hard could it? Not picking, seventytwo, but can you understand my frustration? People should just write in plain old english, not phone text or short hand, eg SWMBO. It's not that hard. Or. Is it?
