  1. Sounds like the spring in the BOV is not up to the task. If your on boost and the BOV is leaking, then that might be the problem. Try a new BOV and see how you go.
  2. Oh it can go bang. In a big way. It might not happen the first twenty or so times that it happens, but it only takes one. If your valves are floating imagine the force exerted on the cam lobes when the valve stem tips are rocketted back up on the return stroke. This can cause camshaft failure and if a piece of cam causes a valve to stay open then the possibility of valve coming into contact with piston is quite real. And, if this happens at 5000rpm+...................... All I can say is ouch. To the engine and the back pocket. Your better off being safe than sorry. And really, it's not that much of an outlay to be on the safe side.
  3. Yep. Permanently. Much quieter. Now I don't feel like a tool eveerytime I back off the throttle on boost. Very annoying after a while.
  4. Ok guys, and girls. Here's a copy of the last three SOS samples I've had done on my car. Don't interpret what the technician says as meaning to panic. I've seen far worse and not many better than the results I've got. Everything is in acceptable limits as far as I'm concerned. http://s702.photobucket.com/albums/ww30/PHANTMXR6/
  5. If you still have warranty, take it to a dealer.
  6. Try PAC Racing. They do a lot of rotary stuff. They build some pretty quick cars too.
  7. Not really. What's the difference between throwing it in the bin and claiming you didn't receive it? They aren't going to know. And I did think about the possibility of a fine, but like I already said, what if you didn't receive it? Unless someone hands it too you there is no definate way of telling someone receives anything. Relying on a third party like Australia Post can cause dramas. The only way to be sure through the post is to make the letter a registered item that needs signing to be picked up. A letter claiming your car is too loud and needs to be tested, in my opinion, is somebody elses opinion that your car is too loud. I would call a letter with such content an accusation. But that's just me, each to their own I guess.
  8. Might be too late mate. If the oil light came on that would mean that there was zero oil pressure. It's not a level light. I'd be getting it checked out quick smart if I was you. As a mechanic there is nothing that I fear more than hearing about an oil light or alarm coming on. It can only mean one thing. Damage.
  9. If it was me, I'd screw it up and throw it in the bin. Innocence before proven guilty. Besides, it's only someones opinion your car is too loud until it's tested. If the exhaust is stock stick it too them I say. Do you reckon they go to EPA school everytime a new car is released and sit down and listen to them as they drive by to get a feel for how loud a stock exhaust sytem is? I think not, and you, the law abiding citizen, shouldn't have to prove your innocence. You should not be out of pocket for someone elses opinion either.
  10. My thoughts, stickers don't belong on painted panels. Should be painted. When they are worn with age and weather or chipped due to normal driving they look crap. Good luck though.
  11. Depends which model, but I believe the FG is 4bar.
  12. Have a look around the forum mate. There's plenty of threads with differing opinions on running in your engine. As for fuel, it comes down to personal preference and what's available.
  13. Why would it be a lot more work? Have you got the larger lower airbox section and snorkel yet?
  14. There may be a coincidental two faults there. With putting your boot into it and it stopping dead could be the TPS. The speedo thing could be the gauge, sensor or ecu related. It could possibly be a common earth or power supply issue as well.
  15. I believe I've already stated an 11rwkW increase by replacing the lower airbox section and snorkel with the V8 items. It was only $185 for the pair and is extremely effective. Genuine $185 or SS inductions $599. No rocket science needed here.
  16. On the contrary. I didn't get worked up or upset. I guess that was the way some interpretted the facts that I stated. So be it. Time to move on. :stupid2:
  17. Captain correct, you say. All I did was state factual information. You can call it what you like at the end of the day. And who said I was upset??? It always amazes me how people can interpret one's post and think they know how someone is feeling.
  18. No reason why not. Just means some modifications are required. Good luck.
  19. Go and have a look at the original forum you posted this question on and you'll find your answer. There is no problem.
  20. As the title suggests. Does anyone know if the oil filter adaptors for oil pressure and temperature that suit the BA/BF engines suit the FG also?
  21. Yes, in my opinion, it does really matter. Did you ' just put it there so it could brake it down and be more simple for some other users...' Or.... 'break it down for some other simple minded users' A spade is a spade, as far as I'm concerned, and a BA is a BA, a BF is a BF and an FG is an FG. Ford did not, and has never made, a Mk1 Falcon. If you google Ba Mk1 or Bf mk1 you get no reference from Ford at all, only forums and the like. Anyone can speculate as much as they like but at the end of the day it is as it was released from the factory. Simple or not.
  22. What tha!!
  23. Couldn't agree more with you on that one. I too run Sin 15.
  24. There are many possible explanations for your economy change. Tailwind, the oil, the first measurements you did may have been on a slight incline, Ford may have flashed it at the service.
  25. It's right next to the automatic harmonizer.
