  1. Unconfirmed, but an extremely solid rumour. I expect to see an announcement either after this race weekend or January 1.
  2. I service my own car. I just keep a copy of my trade paper with the log book.
  3. Sorry guys, no futher updates. Life keeps getting in the way.......
  4. Main cap bolt I think. You sure it's leaking form there?
  5. One can never view enough dyno vids mate. Stick 'em up.
  6. If those components are getting replaced, now is the time to add your cooler to the policy.
  7. Have you changed the fuel filter yet?
  8. If you're not touching the internals of the engine, just give it berries from the get go.
  9. Injectors and tune only, I'm guessing 320-330rwKw. Have you had a stock power run done yet?
  10. Just out of curiosity f-wolf, where did you source your info?
  11. Thanks f-wolf. Just what I was after.
  12. Greetings all. I'm chasing the resistance of the coil pack for a BF XR6 coil pack. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. Cash so far, for the less expensive items. Waiting for redundancy/severence pay for the big stuff.
  14. Judging by your description it could be the pump, or a leaky injector maybe? Do you get a heap of exhaust smoke on initial startup?
  15. Try a 15W40 oil. That's what Ford recommend. Did you really let it idle for 30 minutes after it was rebuilt? If that's the case, good luck further down the track. I reckon it will probably use lots of oil due to glazing of the bores. If running in a new engine, you really need to have it loaded up to get the long term benifits. Particularly if it's going to be making big power. When you get it going again, I'd suggest giving it some real load to try and get those rings bedded in properly.
  16. JSM in Pinelands did some power runs for me a couple of months ago. He was a decent bloke to talk to and seemed to know what he was doing. Try looking on the dyno dynamics website for who is available in Darwin. Another one is Hi Tech Tuning in Berrimah.
  17. If you're going to run a Penrite oil, Viper, just run a 15W40 Penrite mineral oil. I did for the first couple of services. This is what I used for the first 3500kms, I think. EVERYDAY DRIVING 15W-40 - Penrite Oil
  18. I run Penrite SIN 80 in mine. No complaints.
  19. I wouldn't recommend a full synthetic or semi synthetic for at least the first 5000kms. And you should not even contemplate the SIN 0 oil. Stick with the SIN 15 and you shouldn't have a drama.
  20. Depends what brand you buy, but anywhere up to about $600 should see you with a set of low beam and driving lights. They are easy to install. Just follow the instructions on the HID install thread. I think it's in the electrical section.
  21. No, it's not the same as 99% of all manual transmissions. In the workshop manual there is a specific fill procedure where you don't even use the fill plug. You have to fill the box with a measured amount of oil through the reverse switch hole. The I6 is 4.85L and the v8 3.85L. Why this is so, is not something I cna answer, but it is in black and white on the workshop manual page number I quoted in the other thread. The funny thing is, in the manual there are heaps of photos of someone disassembling a transmission using a rattle gun. There is a special note from Ford saying they do not endorse the use of air tools for this task and the pictures are from the manufacturer of the transmission and used for illustration purposes.
  22. I bet it's low on oil. Ask them to drain it and see if it's got close to 5L in it. If it hasn't, it needs 4.85L as per the workshop manual. Mine made a similar noise for ages until I was made aware that the oil capacity was required to be 4.85L for the I6. Since filling it with the correct quantity, no more noise. Edit: see here for more detail. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70893
  23. Greetings all. I have recently found out that the capacity written in the FG owners manual for the manual transmission is missing some information. What is written is that the 6 speed manual trans capacity is 3.85L. What is neglected to be written is that that capacity is for the v8 transmission and that the I6 transmission requires 4.85L. I wasn't aware of this until recently and confirmed the difference in capacity in the workshop manual. For those that have access to one it is written on page 308-03a-17. Why there is a difference is beyond me, but I had only been running 4L in mine since I replaced my oil with Penrite SIN ATF. Today I added an extra 850mL to the transmission and it made the driving experience even better. There is now no rollover noise whatsoever, and the slight 1st to 2nd notchiness is all but gone. Why Ford can't get it right the first time is beyond me....
