  2. Happy Birthday F6 Grandad!

  3. Gents's, Met up with a forum member yesterday and I'm comfortable that everything is in order. That is, all the right bits in the right places. I've got an issue with an error code telling me that the boost sensor is not operating correctly (could be a broken wire) as we've swapped in a new sensor, but the error keeps coming back. We've also cleared the code a couple of times, but the fault is still present. Anyway, my Panel Shop and Ford Service Dept have been talking and the car goes in on Wed for repair. If you get to read this Peter, thanks for your time yesterday. What a coincidence that I neally ended up with your car a month or so ago! I love your entertainment set-up, it's brilliant. Dave

  5. Cheers Guy's, Catching up with Peter tomorrow for a look-see to check if there are any differences. Dave
  6. Seven weeks ago I was rear-ended and shoved under a 4WD. There was a thread going around at the time. There was no structural or mechanical damage fortunately, but plenty of new panel's required. All up the cost of repairs (insurance) was $30k+ apparently. Well, picked up the car this afternoon, it drives OK, no different than before and the paint job on the new panels looks fine and all the gaps etc appear to be evenly spaced BUT, things look different. I'm sure some of the replacement parts are not OEM and I'm convinced there are some subtle bits and pieces missing!!! I need to compare mine to another BF MkII F6 even R-Spec if possible, 'cause I need to satisfy myself that I'm not mistaken so I can take my concerns up with the insurance company and/or the repairer, who by the way have given me excellent customer service over the past 6 weeks whilst the car has been with them. I'm after a favour. I'm hoping someone might be available over the weekend for 15-20 mins and let me compare the inside of my engine compartment and front guards, grill/insert, inside the boot to check if I've not been dudded on the replacement panels/parts. I'm in Murrumbeena, near Oakleigh, and happy to travel to you if someone has some time up their sleeve. Cheers guy's.....Dave
  7. Here's another one for the list! I Will be at the Vic Night Cruise 09!!! Dillz Matty macca2042 mntxr BAXR6BOSS (+5-8 other T's, coming from Northern Suburbs) Subjimbo GR8XR6 PAT!! Rapid R-SPEC t6xr ronburgundy mad_rx2 red rocket boosted_XR Rlquik MiKa AXR-Jet PSIFPV F6 Grandad
  8. Welcome - I had a Menace XR6 a while ago, never thought they came out in the Typhoon's. Good to see one at last. Now when people ask, and they will OFTEN - do you say it's purple, violet or magenta? Enjoy the new ride....
  9. The spare wheel well needs to be cut out and replaced, most of the other damage is remove and replace. Rear 1/4's seem OK. Bigget worry is drive-train and suspension etc.... Insurer is Just Car and the repairer is Rugolo's in Ascot Vale (Melb). The wait for the parts could be the burning issue.... The whole car will be resprayed except for the roof when I discussed this with the repairer earlier today...
  10. Got the bad news today - no write off! Apparently the car is repairable. It will cost close to $30k all up. The parts list alone is about $20k. The reason for this decision is because the repair bill is less than 70% of the agreed value of the car. Interestingly though, this excludes any suspension, tyre, wheel, brake or other mechanical damage! These things will only be examined and reported back to the insurer once all the panels etc have been removed. Maybe still a slight chance the plug will be pulled, otherwise R-Spec # 202.1 will be on the road in an extimated 4 weeks to infinity timeframe!
  11. Yeah, the other vehicle has 3rd party, but hasn't paid the excess yet despite lodging a claim, so things getting bogged down. Until the excess is paid there are no quotes, and until the car gets the full assessment, I don't know whether it will be written off or repaired.....hoping for some resolution on Monday - my preference is probably for a write-off (will miss the girl), but with a nice cheque I'll be looking to get straight back into one again asap. There is a couple for sale going around, so I might get lucky and pick up a good one. Pretty keen to get back into BF MKII F6 again...but I need confirmation of the extent of the damage first.
  12. The guy in the panel shop where the car is stored seems to think the most significant damage is at the back, even though the pictures don't really show all that much. The guy that I was pushed into says I lifted that back of the Landy off the ground and moved him quite a way's even though he could see all this happening, albeit in slow motion.....I figure I had up to 10 seconds watching this guy, eye's down and belting towards me! It wasn't all helplessness I was feeling, I knew what was about to happen and I was thinking no, no, no you've got to be f%%ing joking, this is not happening.....then ka boooom! Not wishing to offend anyone...but the OTHER driver....21 yr old, Indian (visa) student, no aust driving licence, in a 30 yr old Toyota borrowed ute with Courier scribbled on the drivers door in texta......Me and my car diserved a f$%#ing lot better than to be taken out this way!!!!
  13. Yep....pretty much happened to most of us....1st time is holy sh*te, wtf...2nd time is not this again....all part of the experience...that is if no damage is done to person or machine..
  14. Some may have seen this on another forum, but there a few guy's on here from Melbourne who have seen me about. Anyway, this is what I copped this whilst stationary on Dandenong Rd Armadale yesterday at about 4.10pm. Eye witnesses said the bloke who hit me (more on that when I calm down) could have been travelling at up to 80 clicks and only saw me at the last moment. Needless to say he torpedoed me into and under the Discovery who was also stationary in front of me. I moved him about 2 metres forward too! The car is being assessed, but won't know the full extent of the damage and if it is repaireable for a couple of days. That's about all I'm up to writing at the moment....might provide more info at a later stage. Me...had a quick trip in ambulance to the Alfred....no major injuries, just an extreme case of anger, frustration and pissedoffidness...... Dave
  15. Hi, It's likely this is a dumb question, but can the Seek, Volumne, Cruise control buttons on the steering wheel of a BFII F6 be illuminated same as the in-door/window switches? Thanks...Dave
  16. Cheers Juzza...Yep that was me ....just doing a bit of midweek grocery shopping for the family... Dave
  17. What was the name of this thread? The poor undecided soul has got what he asked for, plus some!

  19. You'll have a great day! I did mine in Sept 08 at Sandown. Unfortunately the weather was a bit crappy in the morning, but this helped spare the tyres for a couple of the earlier sessions. Depending on how you are grouped - we had 8 x F6's (2 R-specs), 5 x GT's, 3 x SP's and 1 x F6X - all cars were BF's. The day starts with a 45 min talk about defensive driving techniques and some advanced concepts and you will be introduced to the instructors (3 or 4). Then to the cars......... My group started with a discussion about seating/driving position followed by 8 or so Slalom passes around approx 6 w/hats all done in 2nd gear and as quick as you wanted to go. Next was a breaking and avoidance session which helped you understand more about ABS etc. Basically you needed to break and swerve around W/hats on que from an instructor. You do this about 8 - 10 times. Next was a bit of fun - in first gear at 25 k's, on que, hard left on the s/wheel, plant the foot and spin out. Purpose here is to feel the difference with TC on an off and to learn how to recover from an out of control spin. Great fun in the wet and we did this 8 - 10 times as well. Break for lunch!!!! Next - 2 warm up laps - then 8 laps of the track at what ever speed you are comfortable doing. The main straight was closed at the pit lane entrance and there were w/hats at the end and twice on the back straight to limit excessive speeds. Nevertheless, most in F6's got to 200k's at least once each lap. We finished the day with 3 timed runs through a gymkana course on gravel, which put the salom, braking and OOC to practice. Overall a great day, lots to learn about your car's capabilities (and yourself as well). Make sure you follow all the pre drive day checks, particularly tyre pressures. Be prepared though to lose plenty off your tyres. Mine got smashed (and the car had only done 3,000). A mate (ex race driver) reckon's I lost about 10 - 15k's off 'em and I didn't even hand over the wheel to an instructor either. Enjoy.....
  20. Great job boy's - good choice of route too - it had enough of everything to make a night run memorable! Great to see and "hear" so many excellent cars - I hope I didn't slow anyone down! I hope everyone made it home safely. MYFPV6 - Dave
  21. Hi there! Not been on one of these before - you got room for an old fella? Cheers.. Dave aka "F6 Grandad" in MYFPV-6
  22. Obviously I've gotta get a tune!. Just ticked over 3,200 k's and I'm happy with highway figures @ <10l/100klms, but struggle to do better than17.5l/100klms around town. Mon - Fri driving in peak hour on Dandy rd to the City probably doesn't help. Most driving is done in perf mode and in manual mode about 20% time. On full auto, consumption is high 18's to mid 19's. Not real happy as I don't flog it much at all.
  23. Here's mine for your list: # 202, Lightening Strike, Auto. Have you tried FPV for the full uptodate list?
  24. Cheers Gav and tks for the info. From all that I've read and researched it should be a magic day. I'm a beginner when it involves any type of track work so this is going to be a lifelong wish come true. My car is new (1,800 klms atm), but will have had the 3 - 5k check out of the way before the drive day. I'll take your advice re the tips above. Tks again. Dave
  25. I've just received my drive day confirmation for Sept 29th at Sandown! Interestingly and apart from ensuring that all the fluid levels are OK, I noted that it's recommended that I inflate the tyres to 45 PSI (I run mine at 40 PSI now) which seems a bit high, but maybe someone has a view on this. Also, this will be my first time, so what can I expect? Cheers......
