G'day to all, My mate is selling his XR6T. Recently he cut out a hole in the lower air box to put a second snorkel in. He has now decided to sell the car and is worried he won't be able to get a road worthy certificate. He is in Victoria. Anyone have any experience with this? cheers.

Yeah Car is lowered!

G'day to all, I have had a vibration issue with my 03 XR6T for a few months now. I have done the obvious of new tyres, wheels balanced three times at three different tyre shops, wheel alignment, different tyre pressures and checking wheel nuts. Vibration still there! Mainly at around 90-100kph. Mainly in the steering wheel. However, it is very intermittent but when it vibrates it seems to be getting worse!! After doing extensive reading on this site I am thinking maybe a tail shaft balance. Does any one know how much this might set me back? I just don't want to keep throwing money at it and still have the problem!! Any advice will be beneficial. Cheers.

I agree Al@n. This website is the goods. What advice are you particularly referring to?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I didn't think that cooler looked like a typhoon one. It's sold anyway. Lucky I didn't buy it. I don't plan on making big mods. I am currently running a CAPA 10psi generic. Car is running well. Will that WOG cooler be safe to run on this tune? I just presumed something slightly bigger then the factory like a typhoon one will be OK as it shouldn't give me more power but power for longer.

I am in Melbourne. The seller is in New South Wales. So that's no good to me. I couldn't work out how to just save the picture. But here is the link. G'day, I am looking at purchasing a BA-BF XR6 Typhoon intercooler from Ebay to replace my factory XR6 Turbo intercooler. My question is how do I tell from a picture if it is genuinely a tyhpoon intercooler? The seller has a picture of it with a serial number and a product number with a FPV logo. But anyone can stick a picture on there!! I presume a typhoon intercooler is slightly bigger then the factory xr6 cooler. Is this correct? I am just after a better cooling and flow without spending big bucks. Any advice will be good. Cheers.

Ok. After spending the afternoon reading past topics on here, I thought I might try some of the simple things that could be causing it. First thing I tried was to tighten the nuts on the wheels. How tight are the nuts meant to be? Because, I was able to tighten the nuts with only a little effort. Infact I was able to tighten the nuts another couple of revolutions each! So how tight are they meant to be? Anyway took it for a drive. There did not seem to be any vibrations!! However, it was a quick drive as we don't have any 100kph zones around. Will try again tomorrow. Surely my problem was not loose wheel nuts!! How can two different wheel shops not have them tight enough after a balance? I have also noticed that, the front and rear left brake calipers have a tiny bit of movement in them. Maybe, 1mm left to right. Nothing to make me think oh s**t!! Is this normal? I checked our other car (vx commodore) I noticed it has a tiny movement in its' brake calipers as well. Once again thanks for your thoughts. Cheers.

G'day to all, I have read many topics in regards to the problem I am experiencing and I would hate to bring it up, however, I find my self falling somewhere in the middle. I have been experiencing an intermittent vibration through the steering wheel of my 03 XR6T. I put it down to the fact that I had very old tyres and needed a balance, alignment etc.... About six months ago after I got the money together I got a set of new tyres, lowered on king springs, wheel alignment and balance. The problem disappeared and car drove beautifully. The car still drives very well, however on the highway at 100kph I get an intermittent vibration through the steering wheel. Anything below this speed there is no vibration and nothing above 100kph!!! If I never drove on a highway I wouldn't even know the problem existed!! I had it re-balanced about two weeks ago. It seems to be better but still there and very intermittent!! Apart from this the car is awesome!! After I had it balanced I noticed that the weights they put on were at a different spot than previously!! How can this be? Surely once a tyre is balanced it's balanced?! Could it be a tyre pressure issue? Not that I have ever experienced this before. I want to sort it out. My wife thinks it's happening because it's a Ford!! Thanks for your thoughts.

PM me. I have sent you a message anyway. Cheers.

Great read! Very technical. Have you had much experience adjusting the low speed fan and the high speed fan temps? I presume by changing the temperature settings you change when the fans come on. Is this correct? I find these cars seem to run very hot in summer and therefore affect performance. So can you adjust the fan temps through the xcal2 to come on earlier therefore keeping everything a bit cooler? Or is it more complicated than that? Thanks again for any advice. plasmid2.

As I am also new to this. Can you explain what the first graph means? Difference between LTFT and STFT. I forgot to mention. I had a go at data logging today and wasn't able to get it to work. I have a 03 BA. I understand that you can't data log everything but I think I am missing something. The xcal2 seems to recognize that that is what I am trying to do but seems to drop out. After I hit go it starts recording but I have no values for the chosen PID's. I tried both lower case and uppercase PID's with no luck. I have set Livelink to administrator as well. Are there other settings that I need to hit to make it to work? For example I just leave it on COM1. Once again thanks for your time.

try here. SCT Automotive Performance Products You need to download the software (livelink) and the drivers for the xcal so your computer can recognise it via USB. Once you download the software you have to make some changes to the software. From memory I think it gives you all the info you need. There are some help hints and demos there as well. However, I haven't tried it yet. So I don't know if it works. I know there is a thread on here from someone datalogging with an XCAL3 and they had some trouble. There is also a forum entirely dedicated to the xcal and livelink. However I think it might be out of action. Cheers.

G'day to all, I have a Ford Flash 2 and I downloaded all the necessary bits and pieces to be able to data log. Then I thought to my self what am I going to do with all this data? So I tried googling and searching on this site and haven't been able to find anything. The livelink software has some info. There is a section on it called 'Useful parameters to log'. It shows what to log to get air fuel ratios. However, it didn't really make any sense to a non-mechanic!! I thought if I could do a data log now I would have something to compare to if the car started playing up. I also thought I could data log between the different tunes (factory, 8psi etc..). Once again what would I be looking for? What do the numbers mean? Does anyone have any experience or know where I could get some sort of tutorial on data logging? Or is it something that should be just left to the experts? Appreciate your time. Plasmid2
