I bought a XR6T For 2K that has gone in a XW I just want to plug and play a N/A engine and turn over the car with roady and rego

Hi Guys, Does anyone have any experience removing a 6T and replace a N/A Barra. Will it be just a matter of changing wiring loom, PCM and ECU. Feedback and guidance will be much appreciated.

Hi, Looking to improve 1/4 mile times. Currently running 18" FPV rims with 265 MT ET Street2. My question is does the Ford 17" XR Rims fit over the rear of 4 Pot Brembo Brakes. Cheers

What suspension setup are you running and what times?? Can you alberate on what part of the track your car does not like?? It is a handful trying to get a 2tonne trademan use with over 500RWHP around the track but its so much fun... It aint no GTR..

The KU36's get a pretty good wrap as a good bang for your buck tyre what are your thoughts and what times do you run sprint and clubman configuration? Was there any issues getting a 265 rims to fit up front.. Any clearance issues?? What rims and sizes are you running?? Yes with the Toyos 888's they were 245/40 18's, however the pirelli's are 235/40. The Kumho 710's are 245/40 I will be running them up front and the pirelli's at the rear. My track rims are FPV Typhoon copies I believe they are 8" wide can't be sure though.

That is interesting to know that you rate the Corsa's. I tried them after running the Toyo 888's they were like chalk and cheese. I think alot of my understeer issues are aligment related. I am going to book it in at Fulcum to get the aligment down and throw as much camber at it as possible. I was running 30PSI front and rear (Hot) as this pressure was recommended by Pirelli and the under steer remained then they were up to temperature. Would you know anyone is the Brisbane area who specialise in suspension and are good??? I am doing the Queensland Raceway Sprint format.

I never really considered using nitrogen I did some research a few years ago and the conclusions where that for the cost there was not to many beneifts only more stable tyre pressures, but I will look into it again. The other set of semi slicks I have Pirelli Pzero (Corsa) and they are not street tyres. I did not rate them as high as the toyo 888's I run for a couple of seasons. My front two Corsa's are now screwed as I lost my ABS last time out and flat spotted them twice. Im trying the Kumho 710 as they rate really well in the US on there heavy cars and got them at a good price. I have reduced the front swar bar to 27mm which has helped amazingly with understeer. With the 30mm and 850lb front springs the understeer was terrible. Cant wait to go out on the 14th of Jan for the test day.. Thanks for your input with tyre pressure

Can you confirm if your 6T is a ute or sedan? I noticed that you are running a sway bar in the rear. If it is a ute do you find the car over steering coming out of the corners?
-
I have been doing the last three seasons using toyo 888's and yes it is great fun. I was hoping there was a experienced sprinter that uses the forums because I dont think I have got the tyre pressures right. It is quite difficult to get the correct setup with tyre and suspension combinations. Its frustrating as there is not to many people out there on the forums that do these events that want to share the information.

What type of semi slicks where you running?? Are you running more camber now?

Hi Guys, Im looking for tyre pressure recommendations for Semi Slick tyres running at QR. My Ute is a turbo V8 XR8 making 520RWHP. I have bilstein allround, kings FG HD rear springs, 850LB spings at the front and a 27mm front bar. I am running Kumho 710 (which is a full slick with two small cuts around the tyre) in the front a Pirelli PZero Corsa at the rear. Tyre size is 245/40 R18. Any ideas lads???
-
Hi, Not as yet gone for the 27mm front bar. I will be seeing Fulcrum soon with the alignment as there is a test day at QR on 14 Jan before the re surface. I will be fitting the new semi slicks soon. I will post the changes after the track day. cheers

Lads this tread has turned into a interesting read and its great to get everyones thoughts and opions. Can I just confirm what setup I should go for. I will be reducing my front bar to 27mm (was thinking of going back to standard, however I will not). What values on the wheel alignment should I be looking at keeping in mind I dont have caster kits and tyre wear is a consideration? I have a set of Kumho V710 coming (close to a full slick with only to lines cut into the tyre) which should help with the turn. Has anyone used them?? I have decided not to go with the rear bar. The values I quoted earlier are incorrect due to my workshop having to change the steering rack as my turbo manifold cooked the rack. I have not recieved the print out but I guessing that there was no consideration given to any kind of track work. I believe that if I get a aggressive alignment done this will give me great benieft when I get back to the track...
-
Thanks for ideas fellas. Good point about the change in color I will check. My 5000's operate as good now as they did 2 years ago with these small cracks. I will give Matt a call to confirm that these samll cracks do not become an issue. Cheers
-
I hope that the 850's was not the wrong choice. I agree with you that highway driving feels great the ride is not to rough and handling is great. Do you think the bar at the rear lets the back of the car brake traction under power when you leave the corner? Do you run semi slicks at the track? What shockies are you running? Why did you need the spacers?? Do you know the values or your alignment? I think you may have answered the question which front bar to get may have to go back to standard with these heavy spring rates...
-
Could grab some pics tomorrow. They are only small hairline cracks however the DBA 4000 at the rear have none, prob due to not doing much work.
-
Hi guys, I have DBA 5000 rotors and 4 pot brembos fitted to the front of my BA ute, I have done approx 7-8 track days on them and have noticed lots of small cracks (direction from the hat to the outer edge of the rotor). They work great still, however I do have my concerns. Any ideas??
-
I will not be installing a rear bar from all the information I have read due to unsettling the rear of the car. 520rwhp is a handful with current setting I do not want to be drifting around corners costing time. Reducing the front bar is a consideration however.
-
Hi, They are diffently 850lb springs in the front.. I dont know what bump compliance is can you please explain??? Yes it does not feel good with the 30mm front bar at the springs up front. Need to get it sorted your opinion is valued. Thanks
-
Would going back to standard on the front bar in conjunction with a amended wheel alignment be a consideration given my heavy front spring rates??
-
850LB front and heavy fg rear kings. Do we know of any guru's that could set the car up in the brisbane area?
-
All good. Yes they are super pro poly bushes. The understeer is more the inital turn in.

Hi Senna_T, Thanks for your info. The curret values are +3.2mm toe. (total) LH +1.8mm RH 1.4mm REAR LH -1.5mm RH +3.4mm. Can you confirm if you own a ute also?? What do you think of my ideas to help with the understeer I.e change to a 27mm front bar or keep the 30mm and change the alignment?? What is the maximum camber adjustment I can make without the caster kit?? Just for your info my last set of track tyres wore perfectly on the old suspension setup. Thanks again
