  1. if you can get the tune read again in VCM Editor there is a button to Check Configuration (about 3 in from the left on the menu bar thingy) that shows the cars VIN. chances are this will just be filled with random garbage instead of your VIN and it will say something like Lincoln LT for the model. if that's the case encourage your tuner to email all the tune files he can get like that to support@hptuners.com as they currently know of the issue and claim to have some ideas of how to fix it, but arent really interested in doing it because it is a lot of work and they rarely see the problem.
  2. the latest one was an 03 ba auto and mine is an 05 ba2 manual. I know ford can fix it, they just either wont or dont know they can do it. I have seen screen shots of the IDS software that shows where the VIN can be set. unfortuantly my local dealer wont even let me speak to the guys that work on the cars, let alone give me access to their software so I can fix it myself
  3. only cars I have seen it not work on are ones with corrupt VIN information in the PCM. I have seen this with 2 cars now with this issue and 1 other car that gave an invalid VIN/OS Pair error which was fixed by sending the tune file to HP Tuners to be added to the next release. Both the cars I have seen with corrupt VIN seem to have been caused by my local Ford dealer flashing them. The latest one was fine before it went in for some work and came back with a corrupt VIN after ford flashed on the stock tune with latest updates. Mine has also been flashed by this dealer before I got it and the VIN is corrupt
  4. from what I have seen Ray Hall is brilliant, especially with the Toyota 2jz-gte. the reason I sold the SM4 I had for my Supra was because of the lack of support for the Autronic after Ray Hall was gone. if anything Ray being involved with Vipec would make me lean more towards it rather then away just because of the work he did with Autronic
  5. another +1 for Entourage. cant wait for 6th season True Blood was mentioned earlier too. great show and a second season not too far away others I didnt see listed yet Flashpoint - about an SRU team. was easy to get into the first ep and just kept getting better. http://www.tvrage.com/Flashpoint Fringe - an FBI agent working in a division that deals with 'fringe science'. http://www.tvrage.com/Fringe Breaking Bad - High school chemistry teacher finds out he has lung cancer and starts cooking crystal meth to make enough money to support his family after he is gone. http://www.tvrage.com/Breaking_Bad Dollhouse - Programable people. made by Joss Whedon, what more do you need? http://www.tvrage.com/Dollhouse Firefly - nice mix of sci-fi and old western set in the future. its old now and only got 1 season but the movie Serenity came from this series. http://www.tvrage.com/Firefly Life - A cop is jailed for a crime he didnt do and is trying to find out who set him up and why. http://www.tvrage.com/Life Sanctuary - Based around a facility for 'abnormal' people. if you like Fringe you will probably like this. http://www.tvrage.com/shows/id-18682 Las Vegas - series is years old now but its still a favourite. not sure if it was on AU tv or not. it follows the security team of a Las Vegas casino. http://www.tvrage.com/Las_Vegas should keeps yous busy for a while

whats the difference between BA and BF discs? I asked Race Brakes for a quote on DBA4000's for my BA2 and he came back with a price or $231 for BF discs. will they fit with the stock BA calipers?
  7. just to clarify VCM Scanner reports 17psi at 3100rpm before it cuts out. engine has just got a new bottom end (apparently BA spec) within the last 1000km. is it even possible to be making that much boost at 3100rpm with with stock plenum and all stock intake piping/cooler? there is a boost gauge in the car that apparently hasnt been reconnected since the engine went back in. that will have to be the next thing to check
  8. good luck with ford. they pretty much called me an idiot and said there isnt meant to be a vin on the ba/bf, then charged me $120 and told me to go away. maybe have a chat to them first and see if they are going to be useful at all. im not sure if a full paramater reset (like they do when you swap ecu) will write the vin in or not. might be worth a try if you get someone willing to have a go at it.
  9. that's a seperate issue ravenhard. VCM Suite does not auto detect the VIN on the BA Falcons so you need to type it in. I have the same issue as Tree Monkey (although I havent tried a flash tuner). I have spoken to my local dealer and was told the BA/BF PCM is not meant to have a VIN programmed in it, but that guy also told me I can plug in any other BA ecu and it will work straight up so I doubt him a little. HP Tuners think they have some ideas for licencing these PCMs, but they arent really interested in doing it because there are only a small number effected so its not really worth thier effort. if the xcal box works your probably better off going with that.
  10. sounds similar to an issue im having with mine. does it seem to hesitate like it wants to go more but cant quite make it? I have been checking my fault codes (using VCM Suite) and have managed to find an error for Throttle Control System Accuator (I think that's it, but it doesnt show up all the time even when its playing up). a bit of googling led me towards thinking it was the TPS playing up so I swapped that with a known good one and still have the same issue. a bit more looking around found someone else on the forum (BionicXR6T) who had the same issue and Ford replaced the throttle control module from under the dash and that fixed the issue. I havent got hold of another throttle control module to test with so I dont know if that will fix my issue or not. if your car is under warrenty still then try convince Ford to replace it for you. another mate had pretty much the same problem on an 03 BA too which turned out to be that the cat had collapsed. might be worth checking to see if your cat has fallen in on itself.
  11. have tried reading it out a few times (with the latest beta and the previous one) and its always the same thing. I emails HP Tuners again to ask about the wrong vehicle ID showing up and they said that is going to be caused by the PCM not having a VIN programmed in. seems that unless an xcal box will work there is no way for me to tune my car until HP Tuners sort this out, unless you have any other ideas Dale? Thanks for the help so far
  12. the info log in VCM Scanner reports the Type as Ford Aust Generic 2005. ID: 1086949104 Date: 10/02/08 Hardware: 121 Firmware: 112 Part Number: 6220 Rom Status: 0 3F 0 82 0 1 0 FC FF SPI Info: 20 15 FF FF 4E 41 0 0 Config: CC 88 0 0 0 40 System Status: F7 0 0 0 Comm. Status: 0 0 0 0 0 On Time: 0:00:26.585, 0:23.975 Type: Ford Aust Generic 2005 VIN: 6FPAAAJGSW5R65561 VCM ID: BCC: ECM Seg 1 ID: 0 ECM Seed: 7F0012 ECM OS ID: I just calibration details in my tune and saw the Lincon LT V8 thing and the VIN field showing garbage. VCM scanner info log shows the generic 05 though. I checked one of the other xr6t configs I have and it shows the correct details in the calibration. The local Ford dealer has been less then helpful on this issue, however they did manage to flash on the latest update (I assume, the PCM Config id above changed) and apart from that they have said their computer talks to my PCM fine so the issue is in my software even though it works with every other car. is it possible messing around with the F6 tune has caused this? I didnt think anything of it and assumed it wouldnt cause any issues as it was put back to stock
  13. PCM is bog stock. only changes I know of are the local Ford dealer flashing a Typhoon tune onto it for about a day then changing it back (I bought it off the service manager). and yeah I have 2.23.3411.25951 Beta from last week. it fixed the invalid vin/os pair error for another PCM but according to HP Tuners the issue with mine is different. latest news is they think they have a fix but they are unsure on an ETA for it. I have attached the file I read off my PCM if you want to take a look at it. will need to rename to .hpt as the forum wont let me upload the .hpt file. EDIT: explanation from Bill of HP Tuners... Looks like its just a problem with this particular vehicle, the problem is very rarely the binaries in ford aust. vehicles don't have the vin programmed into them(its rare) but the dealers cannot program it in either. Since Fords have no vcm id number our software licenses the vin number, so without a valid vin we can't even license the pcm. 05_BA2_xr6t_manual.txt
  14. Thanks Dale, I have put the VIN number in originally (have read on the HP Tuners forum this is a known issue) and I can read the stock tune off fine, just cant licence it (VCM Suite gives the Invalid VIN/OS Pair error). I have sent the file I read to HP Tuners and have been told there is no VIN information in the tune file at all. Using the same method of typing in the VIN I can do other BAs fine, so its something specific to my PCM
  15. and what do I do with the flash tuner after I buy it and find that it wont work either because as far as I know it locks to the VIN too? pretty sure there are no local tuners who have the xcal boxes in stock to test before I shell out the money to buy one thanks for the info on the parameter reset. I was pretty sure the ford mechanic was a tool
  16. Hi, I have recently tried to tune my car with VCM Suite and run into some issues. I have been in contact with VCM tech support and found that the ECU in my car contains no information about my VIN. I have had the car back to the local dealer and they have plugged their computer in and told me it works fine (after I told them it would when I dropped the car off) and charged me a fortune for the privilege. The workshop foreman has told me there is no VIN validation on the CAN Bus until the FG though, so I should be able to grab another ECU and plug it in and have it work fine. I always thought that would be a problem because the ECU, BEM and ICC all need to be programmed to work together? Has anyone changed an ECU on a BA before? What else needed to be done?
  17. revs, speed and engine temps can be read by generic OBDII scanners. to my knowledge there is no way of controlling the ICC via laptop, although it would be interesting to see.
  18. mine isnt looking too bad atm. seems I missed the intercooler when I washed it. can barely see the thing for all the bugs. gunna have to deal with that tomorrow :(
  19. pfft I only just washed mine today... I think I got about a kilo of bugs off it from the drive back up last night though
  20. me, you, cam said he was keen, neil hasnt made it home yet but if he comes out ben probably will too
  21. when do you get in? I think we got a bunch of us heading out tonight. probably be out thursday night too
  22. any updates on this? mine started doing the same thing really bad on a road trip over the weekend (has done it around town previously, but not enough to worry about). I starts off only cutting out about about 3500rpm but if I keep driving eventually it cuts out under any load at all. ECU recorded a DTC saying something about the Throttle Control Actuator causing a forced engine shutdown. is a throttle body clean/replacement likely to fix this?
  23. haha you reading this neo? as far as I know his thinking is that it will cost $xxx just to get a mechanic to find out whats wrong with it and that doesnt guarantee a fix, but he can get a new engine for $1500ish and have it installed for a carton + other small misc stuff needed for it.
  24. also another question with the swapping... as far as I know the BA ecu is not gunna be able to run the BF/BFII engine due to the varible cam timing in the later engines. if the ecu is swapped to one that will run the engine I understand the ICC will have to be reprogramed by Ford? also will doing this change the VIN and cause an xcal2 to stop working?
