    Ute Mats

It's in western Sydney . It's near horsley park . "the purple pig" .. They sell the good stuff in square blanks and you cut yourself.. Otherwise challenge as in the canopy mob they are on silverwater Rd and sell blanks but slightly thinner.. Cheers utemad
  2. seems to depend where you are but fg xr8 ute cost me 320 for 15k service
  3. As for taillights you would wire them up yourself in around 20 mins . its a no brainer, I bought a set of new BF lights on fleabay and cut the original plug off the FG tubs lights then soldered the new lights to it so I retained the factory loom and unplugability cheers utemad
  4. mate sorry to burst your bubble but the tubs aren't fetching much as there are plenty already laying around in tray builders all over the place . I flogged mine after trying ebay to a forum member for 600 bucks .. I was like you hoping to recoup some of the trays price but it just isn't to be.. pulling the tub off is a no brainer and you will just have to paint the back of the cab.. the hardest part of the tub removal was realising there was a bolt hidden behind the mumber plate which I hadn't removed yet lol if you mount the tray right down on the chassis like I did you will lose a little in the fuel capacity as I could cram 80 odd litres in it with the tub and cant get more than 71 with the tray as the filler is lower.. other than that the hardset part is to get a good tray without being robbed for it. and realising ford wont give you a cent back for the tray when your done with it so it will be another 4g of depreciation you will cop on resale.. as you'd gather I am sick of mine and it'll be up for grabs in a few months for some lucky cashed up buyer with a whopping 20k on the clock cheers utemad
  5. Best one with a weigh bridge ticket was 1350kg on beefed up xls springs.. fg xr8 on the stops but that only takes a tiny 400kg with stock springs not a 1300kg load but heavy none the less fg draggin all it took to sink the ship plenty more overloaded picks too its one of those things in the trade... if you aint getting the check til the rubbish goes then I'll figure a way of getting it on the ute somehow cheers utemad
  6. Pity you weren't looking a few weeks earlier.. had 2 fronts and one rear for fg.. oz autoquip does them or ozrax both are on the net and post anywhere cheers utemad
  7. Cant we have atleast one ute left as a ute for those of us that actually work our xr's and leave the dunny doors with there whimpy irs for the posers.. gees if they go irs I'd have to go back to a 4by ute.. Me thinks irs is the wrong direction when you think what it is a ute is spose to do for a living cheers utemad

    Ute Boxes

Roller shutter tops seem way better than hard lids for work as you cant have boxes down the sides with hard lid.. also like most of you would know its wise to cut the box over the guards to get as close to the tub side as possible to save leaning over the body too far.. trouble is if your a contractor making your living off your ute the sacrifices are fairly big and tend to cost you a fair bit of wasted time plus things like getting a worker to get something outa the ute cant happen as they'll treat it like theres and scratch the daylights outa it. plus I found out the hard way that suppliers dont care either when helping load it with stuff like cement bags and get cement all over it and then lean on it aswell.. I found it to be just too hard to live with unless you treat it like a work hack ute and then its fine all beit way too small. If you can get away without boxes I found it ok but with 1 box mounted how do you get a pair of stools and a drop saw and ladder in let alone fixings and a small amount of rubbish your gunna take away to get paid.. they just aren't practical. also getting racks that'll carry a decent load is really a challenge unless you can put up with a roll bar but then you lose half your side access. cheers utemad
  10. you guys are aware how aami is to deal with which is why you get insuramnce in the first place right..I dont know where you are but to my knowledge vehicle is dropped off or towed to there inspection station where they asses it and then beaters turn up there to bid on the repair and cheapest guy wins .. you then recollect your vehicle from aami when done.. doesn't sound like what id want unless it was just some work hack ute.. If I am wrong feel free to correct but this is what happened to one of my brothers cars .. no choice of repairer offered cheers utemad
  11. Same here 35 and 2200 ( fg xr8 )but if I was game to go aami or similar it would be cheaper mine business too cheers utemad

    Ute Boxes

its a bit hard as your boxes are a personal thing and it depends what trade you do and how you run your business or are you an employee I through a box in the back of my fg that I had and it worked fine if you were just an employee with a standard run of tools or a tiler etc ( trade with stuff all tools ).. it got me down to the point where it wasn't effective and was costing me money so I ditched it and got a tray that'd make me money instead. box options are pretty simple 1 or 2 down either side 1 across the cab a full trundle pull out floor with a top on it so you can load still on top a few small boxes you can move around and take out when not needed hardlid and milk crates or like my dad a hardlid and an open top plywood box to stop stuff sliding around .. cheers utemad
  13. theres a full body kit on ebay right now in the same colour off a sedan for 2200 bucks already... the rear tub collapsing aint much of a surprise.. good to see for you that its a right off .. atleast you dont have to go through the repairs.. my dads ute got rear ended at the lights last week by a person while he was waiting for the green arrow and now the repairs start ... what a hassle. 3 weeks earlier he was sitting in the same spot waiting for the same light and a person got hit .. I'd be staying away from that intersection if I were him utemad
  14. mentioned it to my dealer that the passengers side wobbled something fierce and he said it was probably a loose bracket.. got it back wobbled just the same and it became " normal behaviour" utemad
  15. Mine used to flap in the sides.. was a great joke I used on all my ford loving mates as to how crap there tubs are.. if you look underneath one its the inner guard and a lowsy bracket that stops the skin near the cab giving the cab a cuddle at speed.. All in all the tubs are junk and really built like a thro away item with a coat of paint chucked in for good measure.. I even laughed at the bumper stiffening bolt from memory hidden behind the nuber plate.. it just presses under the chassis with friction .. pull this out and the rear bar flaps as much as the sides.. cant expext much when they only recycled a case to build it lol oh and the best part its even worse if you paid fpv coin for your ute cause its the same crappy tub and its not socially acceptable the dealer told me to remove it ( hence why I wasn't allowed to even consider one lol ) so you have to just put up with it with anything on the racks the tub bobbed around a heap taking off and stopping at the lights.. freaks people out in the passengers seat when I point it out and annoyed me in the rear view mirror watching it dance around wondering when it would join me in the cab.. the yotas move slightly too but only 4bying under big flex as you see luxs with marks where the top of the tub hits the cab utemad
