Way to go with thread mining. And not everyone wants a LSD either and the rest of the post I cant be bothered with. Go beat up a LS1 owner or something.

Did you get this in? Has it totally transformed your driving experience? What was the cost?

G6ET are limited to 200km/h, XRT are 230 and FPV 250. Nice avatar btw ;-)

Wow - fantastic write up Phantm - and all while you were camping? Very impressive! Thanks for taking the time to post that. With your noise suppression - your placing it on the outter skin (hope these are the right terms), are you also going to do the inner skins after removing the cardboard looking mouded jobbie I'm going the SPS600Cs, so will prob have to ditch the speak mount 'thing'. I assume it's just a matter of mounting up some mdf. How hard is it to pull the pillar trim off?? Thanks again!

How much you wanna spend?

Yeah the G6ET has the pillar grills, I guess the questions are. Is it worth replacing these tweeters, will the Alpines fit?

Hey all - I know there's some really knowledgable guys on here, who I'm hoping can help me out. I've been tossing up what to do with my G6ET, I think first stage I will replace the door speakers with Alpine type s, similar to what you have done. I've even mustered enough courage with the help of some excellent posts with pics to do it myself. Was thinking of using the SPS-600's as a replacement. I have some questions: 1) Would I benefit from using splits in the front (SPS-600C)? How much harder for the install given the pillar mounted tweater? What about wiring? Much benefit, or just too much fiddle for the trouble? 2) Speaker spacers - I think from other's posts that I'll need to put some mdf spaces to fit the 6.5"s. How thick do they need to be?? I've seen some pre made ones on ebay would they be suitable (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SPEAKER-MOUNTING-SPACERS-SUIT-6-1-2-SPEAKERS-SPLITS_W0QQitemZ330313670983QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item330313670983&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318) 3) Since I'm going to be pulling doors trims off, my as well sound deaden them also. Does anyone have any tutorials (with pics pls) or mind giving me some words on how to do this. Do I take the brown carboard looking moulded panel from the door and replace with deader, or just go over it? I'm looking at using the cheaper alternative to Dynamat on eBAY called eDEAD (Cheers phantmxr6). Ideally I'd like to go a couple of amps and subs also, but budget limited at the moment. Appreciate any help you guys can offer. My skill level: I can solder some basic electronics know how like to tinker

There's fault with the sender arm in early model FGs, well XRs and G6ETs anyway. A guy on 'the other' forum is a Ford dealer mech and has replaced about 6 of them he said. Unforunately I am yet to convince my dealer that this is an issue. But I will be doing the "look it's on empty but it's got 16 litres left" demo next time. Which is almost 150-200kms of hwy cruise distance. Very annoying to get the '80km' warning when there's approx 30% of the tank left.

I agree - I've played with those settings. I find it especially bad viewing the instrument cluster when it's overcast. It's really hard to see the gauges and turning on the parkers or lights the dash still wont illuminate. I find I throw a cap over it when it's really bad, but I think I will tape it also....

Paint Protection! Looks nice - dont forget to update your sig!

Hey Greg / Anyone - little confused about what you did with the sub (I'm not sound expert). In the above post your saying you have replaced the sub but left it running with on the factory amp? If so what sub etc / cost? I'm looking to upgrade mine to get some decent bass (I'm not a basshead but just hate distortion!). My local strathfield quoted me $400 for a Sony 1000watt sub in a enclosure and a cheap ($140) amp to drive it. I'm not sure if this is overkill just for the sub? I'd rather keep the bootspace if I can improve sound quality with just a sub upgrade. If I can do a total speaker upgrade like you did with excellent results for $800 including a sub then that's cool too!

Well come on. Where's the update? Pics and specs pls. Cost too!
