  1. oh theres lots of trans places that can build a good box. the point is I paid to get it fixed and it hasnt been for 1 day since, although being picked up 3 times 'fixed'.
  2. its not the power, it's the tune dude.... there have been some 280rwkw cars with rods out of shape.... too much timing will do it usually. do you know what ping sounds like? if not, find out..... go to bruce (heinrich performance and tuning) and get the tune checked. I wouldnt trust anyone else...
  3. 308 seems low for fg. the turbo's are smaller than ba/f but 340 is common now. you could always put an f6 turbo on! (same size as ba/bf xr6 turbo) cruise are posted in the 'sa members' section of the forum. check out the forum menu, top left on home page.
  4. welcome dude. I wouldnt be surprised if the quiet cruise nature of adelaide is due to the over zealous coppers on the prowl for 'hoon' drivers. that's been oone of my main concerns with going on a cruise. glenelg, hindley st, rundle st etc is defect city..... I lived down south (sheidow park) till a couple years ago before moving to the adelaide hills....
  5. apparently bruce has given hiom my number and he's gonna give me a buzz. I think the convertor has been sent away to see whats going on... but I havent heard anything since wed.

  7. I dont know who bruces 'guy' is, but if he's proven to be good, I take the no clue comment back. as far as I know its rooted. I just dont know why I got it back after the first attempt by him and it wasnt sorted. then again, then again. doesnt exactly inspire confidence..... I certainly dont want to fork out for a complete rebuild after just payingto have it 'fixed'.
  8. nah its easy the hardest part is getting the rear allen bolt off the cover and getting the right length socket extensions. 2 short ones does the trick. changing coils is a piece of cake. just a connnector, and you'll prol be surprised at the difference it makes, once the spark plug holes are dry though...

  10. had a pwr cooler on there for ages.behind driver side fog light. man im sick of not having my car. bruce reckons I could do a bf conversion for 6k ish using a wreck. seriously thinking about that...
  11. does yours run hot? bruce now says a hi stall will run too hot for the street. first time he's mentioned it though...
  12. the power is not the issue, it's the tune. ive been running 350 then 330 with a high stall for a while, but my tuner kept the timing tame, although the boost is high.
  13. update- gave the car to bruce who gave it to his trans guy- spent 1200 bucks getting the trans 'fixed'. picked it up and drove 40k's home... no reverse!? back a coupla days later, got a call after another 3 days 'car is fixed, had a bent valve body that was 'sticking'. drove 40k's home- no reverse! flaring between gears, changing gears at weird times. phoned bruce straight away and he said bring it back and he'll give it to the trans guy- again. I couldnt do it straight away as I had a heavy work load last week, and all we used the car for was 5mins up the road to take the kids to school did some quotes yesterday- about 15k's away. babied it (the missus was in the car, and I was paranoid now because doubted the 'fix' done), and it started to flare badly. limped it home and 2 streets away it hardly wanted to move. try 4000rpm before it would move. 5kph for the last 200m and outside my house it started to smoke- bad. shut it down and smoke was pouring out from underneath the car, and even out the air vents. popped the boot and grabbed the extinguisher and waited and watched. nothing more happened and when I looked under the car the trans had dumped all its fluid over the road. had it towed yesterday back to bruces and called today to see what the go is. it's rooted. bruce reckons he hasnt smelled one so bad (the whole inside of the car smells). the convertor is burned to buggery. waiting on a report straight from the trans guy as bruce doesnt want to get in the middle of this one- understandably. what should I do? ask for my money back and start again? get it back again 'fixed' and hope for the best? do a bf conversion? I reckon ive been pretty patient over the last month since I got it back 'fixed' and I havent had a whle day that it hasnt caused me trouble, but im getting rather jacked now....
