  1. yeah it was very loud....sounded like a truck! could be heard from ages away haha. scared the sh*t out some ppl and we had one guy driving behind us blocking his ears. lol Thanks for all the input it helped alot.
  2. problem found. The bush on the waste gate flap has broken and is hitting on the manifold and would let it the flap shut. Needs to be tig welded and should be all good. A blocked cat was also the problem.
  3. just to rull out a few things we swapped over the coils, wastegate actuator solanoid, boost preasure sensor with some spares we had and replaced the spark plugs. Its still slow to come on boost so its a wastegate/actuator issue for sure. just waiting for the car to cool down and we'll take the dump pipe off and see what the wastegate flap is doing.
  4. Yeah im thinking this also but the cat was deffinatly causing it not to boost above 6 psi with the 10 psi tune in. The rods still on the turbo and it doesnt look bent so the flap might not be covering the hole? or the actuator itself could be stuffed. ill check tomorow when I take the dump pipe off.
  5. it came on at 3500 with the tune before it started playing up so its not that.
  6. I took the exhaust off at the dump pipe today and took it for a drive. With the 10 psi tune it boosts all the way to 15 psi, im guessing this is because there is no restrcition?? looks like a blocked cat is the problem but it comes on boost at about 4500 rpm and is really laggy where before when it was running right it came on at about 3500 rpm. Do u think this could be an actuator/waste gate problem or something to with the ignition side of things?? it breaks down sometimes when coming on boost so that could have something to do with it?? Im going to take the dump pipe off tomorow and clean up around the watse gate flap and and arm as it might be gummed up. any more ideas
  7. Im located in albury/wodonga so theres no tuners around here that would have any idea about these. Im suspecting an actuator issue as the guy I brought it off took it to dealer ship and had all the manifold/tubo gaskets replaced and ever since then it has been like this. I went for a drive in this car long before I brought it and u could here the turbo start to spool and suck when it was on full boost. Now it wont even do that, it just sounds restricted. The fact that it runs less boost with the acuator hose disconnected makes me lean towards an actuator or cat probem. With the hose disconected theres nothing from stopping the turbo making whatever boost it wants. Today Im going to see if I can un bolt the cat and see if it makes a difference. Checked all the connections and tried two different boost gauges ( electronic and analog). Dont think it would be coil or plugs as I think they were replaced under warrenty by the previous owner but ill have to check.
  8. Hi all. I have a 03 XR6T and im having this no boost problem....well kind off. With a boost gauge connected it struggles to make 4psi. With a 10 psi capa flash tune it still only makes 4 psi. This is the strange thing. We were trying to rull out weather there was an isuse with the boost control solanoid so we disconnected the actuator vac line to see if it would free boost over 4 psi. With the hose disconnected it only made 2 psi....strange u think it would make more?? We have checked for boost leaks and its all good. Im thinking the actuator might be stuffed but I was just reading about blocked cats causing the same problem. I dono where to go from here so any help would be appreciated. thanks regards ben
