I just drove from Brisbane to Newcastle down the coast road via Coffs Harbour then came back from Newcastle via the inland road through Tamworth then cut across from Glen Innes down the Gwydir Hwy to Grafton then back up the coast road through Tweed Heads into Brisbane. All up the trip was about 1980Kms and I reset all the trip metres to zero before I left. I averaged 10.9L/100 for the whole trip, but was well under 10L/100 until I got to the Gwydir Hwy. If anyone gets out that way at all I couldnt stress how good this road was, I had a smile from ear to ear the whole time and was almost tempted to do a u turn at the end and do it again in reverse. I really did give the car a bit down this road wich was about 160Kms long and it really lifted the fuel consumption and I was also a bit heavy footed for the reast of the way back to Brisbane. Im in a 6sp Manual and have now reached 6900Kms so due for the first service, but I can say as I got closer to home I just wanted to keep going. This car is a pleasure to drive!! Maybe in the next week or two ill try Brisbane to Cairns and back, I just cant get enough of driving this car.

Im a fan of the FG wheel, first thing I thought was how much better it was than the BA one I had.

Well I still have a dead cable that does nothing for my ipod integration, on the bright side only 2 more months until they may possibly fix it Pretty disappointing effort from ford really. Anyway if you go to the specification and options page on the ford site, go down to audio and communication section, where it says ipod there is a little number 23, if you hold the mouse over it it tells you what ipod models are compatible.

Ive been playing witht he launch control a bit, ive been trying to take it easy though as im not sure how to explain to the boss I need new tyres after only 5000kms. The first time I tried I had the dsc on, I dumped the clutch and it just bogged down made a few horrible noises then took off. Next time I tried without the dsc and I was fully sideways with a cloud of smoke behind smoke me which was great fun! Then I tried it easing the clutch out and also got those strange smell happening. I need to practise a bit to get full use out of it, and like the previous poster I havent had a manual car in over 10 years. I am loving having the manual though and although I was unsure when I ordered it I am wrapped I made the decision to go with it.!

Ive always got my ipod on me everywhere I go and holding 30 GIG of songs is pretty handy compared to probably 5 gig on a disc, let alone the fact I have a very nasty habit of destroying discs. I have always used my ipod but with a fm transmitter that plugs in the 12v socket, its a step up now having the jack next to the socket but like senna mentioned turning the whole car into one big ipod sounds like the perfect setup to me.........yippeee a 6 cylinder turbo ipod hahahah.

Yep I have the bluetooth and it works fine, the ipod cable is there but does nothing when plugged in, not even charge the ipod. Dealer agrees with me that software must be available and has been trying to get answers from ford aswell but the people at the customer care centre have no idea what they are talking about and im told from the dealer and the customer care centre there is no number you can ring to speak to anyone about technical information such as software etc, which I find a bit bewildering. If they think im going away they are mistaken, I want this sorted out. Where it all went wrong was originally I ordered an automatic xr6t then changed the order to manual, when the new order was generated the fleet company forgot to add the tech pack onto the order. Its all been a battle to get to the point where I was allowed to get it fitted from the dealer afterwards and now it doesnt work arrggggggg. Oh well, still gotta be grateful to get such a great car from the company.

that's ok the list is on the ford website, mine is defiantely compatable. When I plug the cable in it doesnt even charge the ipod, but ford are saying that no ipods work at all and wont for up to 3 months becuase the software isnt avaiable. I find it very hard to believe and im going to drive to a dealers and plug my ipod into a car in the yard and see if it works.

I got my new XR6T a few weeks ago and when I turned up to my dealer to pick it up with my ipod in my hand I noticed that I had no bluetooth or ipod connectivity! Turns out the fleet company forgot to order my Tech Pack but I was told it can be fitted at the dealers no problems. So yesterday I took it in to get fitted and now I find out that they cant get the ipod to work due to there being no software available for the FG yet. Ive since been on the phone to ford and the dealer and ive been told it could be up to three months for the software! When I asked them how they get the cars coming out the factory to work with the ipod if they dont have software I was told that they dont. Supposedly no new falcons work with the ipod becuase there is no software released. I know I read a review in a magazine that talks about having used an ipod and have seen photos of the dash with the ipod working has anyone here got a tech pack installed and used an ipod through it? I know its only a small thing but I have been hanging to get this and to now find out another 3 months is very disapointing.

I have had mine for 8 days and have done 1900KMs, im running at 12.7l/100kms. I have manual and have done a mixture of driving down the gold coast from brisbane and also too toowoomba a couple of times the rest has been around the city. I drove it pretty hard for the first 1000km but have been taking it a bit easier lately.

I dont know if this is any help to anyone or relevant to this thread, but I in my new fg xr6t manual I have which I am absolutley in love with I have been disapointed with the standard stereo on the radio. The company didnt think I needed the premium sound so I had to stick with standard and when I first listened to the radio I was shattered. I mainly listen to my ipod which I have to plug into the aux jack for now since the tek pack was forgotten to be ordered but getting installled next week. There is a master volume setting for media and once turned up (default was set at half way) I found the sound to be much better. I was worried my camry loan car stereo was better than the fords until I found this setting now it is more than bearable! Although I must say I love no sound at all and listening to the car as I thrash the launch control instead

Looks Great hustler!! Im so jealous I just cant wait until next week. Are they the standard XR6T rims, they look like the XR6 rims not the T's?

What options do you have on yours Hustler? Is it an auto or manual?

I got told today by a salesman at my dealer he is expecting delivery of XR6T's into thier yard on the 24th June. The fleet guy told me that mine should be ready for me 1st week of July. Im hoping to get it 27th but not holding my breath.

Im feeling your pain mate, I spent the day on phone between dealers and fleet leasing company. Fleet leasing company said it goes through thier preffered dealer in Brisbane although he didnt know thier name. Rang round the dealers and gave them fleet company and my companys name and no one could find any record. Leasing company said if I hadnt changed my order to manual about 5 weeks ago I wouldnt be waiting so long. Then continued to tell me they copped a cancellation fee on the auto order we had in originally (why they just couldnt change the existing order to manual I dont know) and that my maunual should be due late july early august. I told him there is a dealer with manual xr6t available end of june and he said too bad they arent our preffered dealer. Why cant someone at least give me a SIDO number??? grrrrrrrrrr

So if I hadnt changed my order to manual a few weeks ago I would probably have got mine next week too :( I got told my time got reset when I changed the order.......Manual better be worth it. All I can say is my hire Camry Altise sucks !!

I spoke to my leasing company today and he told me the rumour he heard yesterday is that the problem is something to do with the turbo causing the manifold to crack and that ford are trying to find a new supplier. Sounds like were in for quite a long wait guys.

Looks like I might be waiting a while for mine I have to go through my head office who then go through a leasing company to find out any info and this is what I got told today. I tried to find out the SIDO number. "No, we cant track the number, as it wont assist with anything. Ford will release the vehicle ASAP so they can get paid. If he went with the Auto, at the time of the quotation, the delivery time for the Auto was Due in Late June early July, however production has been delayed. At this stage the Manual will be one month after this time as we ordered the Auto via a Factory order. So, at this stage he is looking at Late July for the delivery of his new manual Falcon, unless there are further delay's" Im pretty sure we ordered it beginning of April. I guess its my fault for changing to the manual, but I hopefully the pain will be worth it. Ill just enjoy my rental corrolla in the interim

Well just been told I have to make a decision this afternoon so test drive not an option Its only about a 10 minute drive to my office and I do a bit of around town driving. Mainly drive the M1 between Brissi and Gold coast which sometimes can be a car park and also alot of country miles. Well performance car, launch control, maybe manual is the answer and dont want to be known as a sissy that needs a strap on hahahah

Cheers! I guess the boss just wants me to get around and see as many customers as I can quickly hahaha. Before I knew the FG was coming I was talking about getting a VE SS and was strictly told we are not allowed anything but XR6 Turbos, Im glad now the FG is here!!!

Hey guys Well im new to this forum and have been reading through your posts, lots of great informtation, thanks!! Well im due for a new work car as our lease runs out next week and ive been lucky enough to be allowed to order a new XR6T. The timing of the FG couldnt have been any better. Ive got a BA Mk2 turbo now and really enjoy driving it. I was due to get my new XR6T next friday and although I havent been advised any different im not expecting to see it now for a few weeks if im lucky. Ive been reading plenty on the manual with the launch control and its got me excitied. I changed my order the other day to manual and they have come back to me and said I can have a manual but will have to wait an extra month to get it. Im sure there would be times in traffic when I wished I had the auto but I also do alot of travelling around qld and nsw for work and the manual could be fantastic on some of those roads. Ive heard nothing but good things about the new autos! Im struggling with excitement on getting this new car and to be waiting possibly another 7-8 weeks is going to be painful!! Should I just go the auto and get it sooner or put up with a hyundai gets hire car for a while and wait for the manual. Decisions Decisions.
