  1. Myself and many others have owned monza coolers and then upgraded to process west etc, and saw as well as felt the difference first hand. If this new fg cooler is the same core then same result. Most guys say there a minor upgrade but they have nothing on the others. Yes they are cheap, but, not when you factor in the retune costs later on when you decide to do it properly. Not trying to piss you off mkd.jet. These are facts(luxjet) and there would be tuners to back this up although I'm not asking they get involved. You could get one good run without a cooler at all. I think most guys would want a cooler that performs consistently in all conditions for extended periods of spirited driving and a monza core definately will not do that.
  2. . the great monza arguement is reborn. they dont work mate. simple as that.
  3. avoid these things like the plague.
  4. and not just because I own one. they really are worlds apart.
  5. im with needforspeed about the actuator linkage. get a two ft screwdriver or similar, shine a torch down on the turbo. youll see the actuator.try to move the arm with the screwdriver, it shouldnt move.
  6. the main factor in almost all of our bottom ends letting go is the rods, so yes they are the weak link. there are some ba's in the 400's without rods. give me one person who would recommend that. as for the pistons, here goes. from what im led to believe, acl was the manufacturer of pistons for ford and many other car companies for that matter. im pretty sure there policy was to use a forged piston for any engine producing 100 or more hp per litre which the f6 does. mahle have taken over the piston division of acl, so there it is, mahle forged pistons. acl or mahle are not just aftermarket. they do heaps of oem as well. the part number for rods is the same between fg xr6t/f6. I know that as I rang ford myself. they couldnt however tell me anything about the pistons. im happy to be proven wrong on it. on another note, it suprises me that rdp would remove the engine from their fg to do valve springs, head studs and oil pump gears but not replace the rods while it was out. doesnt make sense. I guess they want to find the limit of them and can obviously afford to do so.
  7. that's right mate. they have a mahle forged piston.
  8. ive seen a few left hand drive cars around brizzy. whats the go, do they have permits and are permanently able to use the vehicle as lhd or is it only to get to a shop or home from the docks?
  9. even though they have a better piston, it still comes down to the rods. 350rwkws is as high as I would go. the rest of the driveline will cope with that aswell, depending on what you do with your car. guys are getting longevity with 400+ but its still risky.
  10. rods are the same in all.forged pistons in f6. better head in fg xr/f6. compression ratio 8.8:1. 350rwkws would be a sensible power level.
  11. im with trough on this one. stay away from the nizpro ones mate. especially second hand $50 jobs.
  12. lack of traction, too quick to come on boost and jealous ba owners are the only issues ive had.
  13. adjust torque convertor stall settings? can it be made to stall up to 2500-3000rpm eliminating the need for an aftermarket convertor?
  14. get an fg mate. find a better one than this one.
  15. considering the aussie dollar stacks up against the us at the moment, that's $90,000 rhd conversion and freight.
  16. I thought they ran 13.3 psi? remember reading it somewhere.
  17. try a new set of coils.
  18. good to see you back mate. you guys got plenty of work on?
  19. if your getting wheel spin youll hit the limiter regardless of shift mode. mine does it occasionally.
  20. are we talking a btr or other 4spd as in th700 or something? possibly the nissan patrol box.
  21. nice power phibo. get it out to willowbank and see what mph she does.
  22. check all your piping etc.
  23. it will if that was a restriction. good luck mate.
  24. youll have to get a 6spd. someone should be able to tell you the cost.
  25. ive heard those coils are junk. chuck in a set of genuine ford and see if that sorts it. could be plugs as mentioned also.
