  1. The Nizpro one. Since they are doing the rest may as well fit their exhaust I guess. And I am very much looking forward to looking at a HSV Snubsport and saying "Yeah right"!
  2. Hi everyone. I'm all excited. The transformation of family car to beast has begun. I've researched and read and taken advice and over the next fortnight things will happen. Started on Monday when I shed the bonds of the OE SP300 Dunlops and shod the girl with Yokahama S.Drives. Early days yet but beyond doubt the quietest tyre I have ever driven on. As for grip, well the preservative coating is still there a bit but the local roundabout down Old Geelong Road doesnt need opposite lock when given a bootful as yet, so dry grip seems good thus far. Many thanks to the guys at Bob Jane in Hoppers. The only guys that seemed to be non brand specific and really talked tyres. Ordered a set of Bilsteins, King Springs and rear sway bar couplinsgs from Senna T from Whoesale Suspension in Sydney. He is shipping down to Melbourne and he was very patient with my emails. I didn't go for lowered springs as I like the stock look. Unfortunately they wont be fitted until Monday week, but I have other stuff happening before then. Wednesday next week she is booked in for a Nizpro Stage 1+ kit. Read heaps and the guys with this mod seemed happy so I bit the bullet and booked her in. Also going for he Twin Cat exhaust. May or may not opt for a fuel pump but I guess there will be those who will say I'm stupid if I don't so why not. I'm excited the see the difference and hope to report next week that she is a different car (well once the springs go in anyway). Anyway I am looking forward to joining the 300+ club. Thos of you in the 400+ club, well you can keep that I think. Now if anyone has any moments of brilliance and think there is something else I should add, well keep it to yourself. After next week I wont have any money . lol.
  3. I am looking at the following ;- XFORCE 3.5 INCH TURBO BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH 4" DUMP PIPE AND 3.5" HI FLOW METAL CAT * * FULL STAINLESS After this im getting a tune and other bits. The price I have is $1540 not fitted. Is this the recommended system? Is this too high for non fitted? Nizpro etc sell these for around the $2k mark don't they?
  4. Hi everyone. I know this topic has been done, but a lot of the threads are old the question doesnt get answer with any certainly. I have a BFII T with 50k and need new shoes. There are lots of forums and writeups but on closer examining you find that the Dunlop is noisy cause its on an Audi in the UK, or the Goodyear is crap in the wet on a Combi in Bavaria. I know what suits one will not suit the other. I have 18" factory rims. Happy with them. The standard tyre the Sp3000 is crap. Yes I have had 50k out of them but the noise and grip is bad. You may klike them. They were ok on my prevbious BA but that had 17s and I dont think all tyres convert to the lower profile. But enough of that. Here are some of my choices and wehat I have been told/read. Falken f452 - Noisy Goodyear F1 D3 - Noisy - lots of wheel spin. Dunplop Sport Max - Great tyre overall. - My ecperience is they didnt wear well. Yokohama s.drive - Some say noisy, others love them, but at $409 a corner, stuff that. Goodyear F1 Assymentrical. - Wins all the tests. Ugly tyre though (Yes Im shallow) Anyway, any opinions or feedback would be great.
  5. I've had the stock 300s from Dunlop on both my NA XR6 and now the Turdo. I changed them on the NA to Dunlop Sport max and fond them a superbv tryed especially in the wet, but they were 17" and now on the T I have 18s. The 300s are noisey, abrupt and an absolute peice of chicke excrement. Even the dealer said they were a bad tyre. I have done some research and bang for buck, considering Wheels Tyres test 2008 when they did a test of 18" tyres on an SS Crapadore, the Falken 452 seemed to stack up opretty good for a lot less than say the Goodyear F1. ANyone have any comments as I have to get some soon. I'm starting to show belt due to lack of wheel allignment. BLA!.
  6. Hi. I am intending on getting a custom tune soon. I have seen the Nizpro custom exhaust advertised, http://www.nizpro.com.au/exhausts.html and wonder if its worth getting the exhaust bfore the tune? Just I dont want to get the tune then have to get it done again once Ihave the exhaust done. Any feedback wood be great. Cheers.
  7. I had my rear bush done at 45000k under warranty with no mods. I had sway bars fitted 2 days ago at pedders and they told me the lower front ball joints were worn out. Apparently its common. I have booked it into the dealer (No names) We will see if they fix it once they see the nice red sway bars front and back. What I don't understand is why some things are ok but others arent. For example, if I put larger injectors in but blow a door seal, how can the injectors void THAT warranty??
  8. Well, picked her up around lunch time and had a bit of a play and have to say there really is a big different to the feel of the car. I think I could have gone ther 30 mm bar up front but the rid may have been a bit harse. Quite nice now. It handled pretty good before but its heaps better now. Its now point and shoot, breaking feels better but it just doesnt feel so sloppy in the rear around corners. Early days yet.
  9. Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions. The boot lid struts are a top suggestion. Never considered those. Its getting worse though. And the bang on the passenger side over bumps annoys the hell out of me. Well later today I start the upgrade process. Booked in for front and rear sways and I'll be looking around for some Konis. I don't want to lower it as I like the look of stock and if you look at my profile you will see she is a pretty little thing. So I'll have to do my research on springs too. In a few weeks, once I get out of hospital (going in this week for my 9th op in 3 years) I'll be going the custom tune down at Dandenong at HPF. On that, I know its been flogged to death, but whats the current thought on the centre muffler? What does it dfo and what does removing it do other than help the engine breath? I know this is off topic but I like to hear the experience of others. Cheers.
  10. Hi. I know how a piston works and that fuel goes bang and we have wheely spinny. that's the level of my mechanical skills. (Well a little more but you get the picture) So what I say here don't take as gospel. But the Ford guy siad it was the way the shocks were st up. Its like there was freeplay in them before the dampening came in. Now don't abuse me if it sounds like crap, but I swear to go in both my BA AND the BF it was the same. I went into Pedders today and booked my car in for Wednesday for front and rear sways. Now, correct me if I am wrong here guys please. He said the Whiteline and Peeders bars were the same thing; one was yellow the other whatever colour but they came of the same line. He also said the standard spings arent too bad and a good way to go was with a set of their Sportsryder shocks. Now of course a Pedders guy is going to say that. But are Bilstiens/Monroes that much different or better?? I dont mind spending the $400 odd for the sways (well I do) as the benefits from what I have read are great. But I don't wanna blow a grand on shocks when I could better spend it on a custom tune. Thoughts?????
  11. Going out today to get front and read Whiteline Sawys fitted. I'll go the 27 mm front as you all say the 30 is too stiff. This wont fix the rattles but Ill get a quote on some springs and shocks as well. Stuff it. If I can't beat the rattls, I'll beat the rattles. Please don't yell at me. I know I was saving the money for a holiday but my baby is just too dam important.
  12. Thanks. Sorry. My bad typing. (Long day). I actually have a BF MkII, but its the same as the BA I had. I really hate it. (The rattles)
  13. Hi Guys. I have a 2007 BF MK!! "Update" tTurbo. I previously had a BA MKII NA. Both of them were the same. The seem to have a rattle in the rear shock absorbers. I took the local service manager for a test drive and he said the XR6 suspension does that especially when cold. Seems like the tops of the shocks are loose, or that's what it seems like. Does anyone else have a similar issue? I HATE rattles. I was thinking of just redoing the shocks to non standard. That being the case can anyone suggest a solution that maintains the ride but gives better handling? I don't want to go too harsh but surely the already good handly can be improved. I await the forums expert advice...as always.
  14. Don't like it. Too confusing.
  15. Hi Guys. I bought an F6 "Snorkle " off ebay. It's a genuine Ford part. Ok I guess there some mods to be mde to the lower air box but as this is a Ford part, how can it void a warranty? The guy at my local dealer said it would. I mean I can by a genuine FPV steering wheel and have it fitted and THAT doesnt void my warranty, so how could making the car breath better possibly be bad? Or am I stupid??? Opinions??
  16. Friends of friends down their run a camp during school times and we just went down for a few days to catch up. Weather was crap but it was my first big outing for about 3 years.
  17. Hi everyone. Went away for a few days last week down to Paynesville (Near Lakes Entrance). About 325ks from Melbourne. Filled up the night before and reset the trip computer. Hit a bit of peak hour traffice on the way into and through the city from Werribee at 6 am, but then around Springvale Road it thinned out. On the trip down I got the XRT (10,000ks on the ODO) down to 9.2l per 100K. On the way back we got it down to 8.6. (WOO HOO) All you doubters out there, no I didn't switch it off on down hill sections. Yes I took it easy but I set the cruise to about 103 and there is a fair stretch of 110 along there and it isn't all flat either. I did put the boot in when I needed to overtake and I did have 3 kids and a boot load of gear. On the trip down and part of the trip back we managed around 670ks out of the tank. With my previous NA XR6 BA I NEVER got more than 550 out of a tank even on a country run. I am EXTREMELY impressed by this. My mate has an SV6 Commowhore and he got 9.1 on the same trip down but then I have an extra 50 or so KW, so I'm more than happy.
  18. Fair enough. I was going to put a lower air intake on the air box, that is about as far as I want to go. It has enough go for the time being, especially driving the kids around. Its a ford part so I can't see an issue.
  19. What about your warranty? Won't that void it?
  20. It just clicked over 9. It was a Ford execs car so had just over 8 when I got it. So I don't know if its loose or not. But I agree totally. Sometimes I hit the sweet spot an it just takes OFF. The accel from 100 is amazing if your in the right gear (even if your not) And it is sedate enough that my 17yo Daughter drives it. Should have seen the look on her face the first time she planted the foot. WOW. I just wanted her to feel how much it would accelerate soshe can get used to it. Poor bugger. I am spoiling her. Shell neve drive a car with so much grunt again lol. Everything from now on will seem gutless. Anyway, back to your question, I dont know if its "loose" yet or not.
  21. Just one other question. Should I run it on 98 or 95? The specs say 95 but the fuel cap says 98 only??
  22. Guys, your feedback has been great. I'd heard good things about the ZF box and I guess I am experiencing them for myself. I have driven around most of the day in perf mode and its a different car. The engine braking and downshifting IS very noticeable. I just wasnt aware that the box would learn. Mind you I have been driving itlike an old woman, like you do with a new car. But my feul economy is great. I never got over 500ks to the tank on the NA. Im up to 450 on this tank and have 90 odd to go. One other thing I have found with the ZF v the 4 spd. In the 4 sp, if you were in auto and in top gear and you slipped it accross to perf (if you can call it that) it would change down to 3rd. The hand book said it would not auto select 4th until about 150kph. With the ZF there is no such down shifting, and it selects 6th no probs. I can tell I'm in top gear at 100 kph im on about 1600 revs. Bloody brilliant. I am not sure if this is right and you guys may correct me, but I am sure, well I am positive that I manually selected 5th I think it was, last night. I am sure I did as it had 5 on the dash display. I booted it, forgetting I was in manual mode and it down shifted automatically. IS that right? I thought that once you were in manual mode, apart from selecting 1st when you stop (and mine only selects 2nd) it wouldn't kick back. If that's right I am impressed. Certainly my NA had some low down grunt but I am in total agreement that the T has the legs. I honestly don't want to play too much with it at the moment cause the bloody thing scares me a bit until I get used to it. It is very, very, VERY nice though to pick a gap and BANG!!! you ARE THERE!!! Plus its also nice to know yo can blow just about any Commowhore off the road. Look forward to more comments. Cheers.
  23. Hi everyone. Well after 2 weeks af stuffing around with finace I finally picked up my BF2 XRT on Wednesday night. The kids were sad to see my Mandarine NA XR6 BA2 go. I got it after I split with the ex and it meant alot to us. But they love the new baby. I drove the normally aspirated XR6 for 3 years and jumping straight from it to the turbo has bought with it some "adjustments" and I want to get some input from some of you with more experience than I. Firstly the BF2 seems much more refined that the BA. The one I have is the BF2 "Update" which basically means they chucked stuff on it as the model was running out, like 18" wheels the upgraded ICC. Anyway, the DSC is much more subtle than the Traction control on the BA, the seats seem firmer and few other minor things are much better. Heres the things I need info on. The 6 speed austo is a much better transmission than the 4 sp auto I had, however I find that slipping it into "Perf" mode makes for a much more driveable car. It is definately much more "sporty" than doing the same with the 4 sp. You can definately feel the gears being held longer. How to others find this? Secondly, I know about turbo lag and I know my old XR6 had a bit of grunt off the line, even when accelerating gently. But the XRT seems, well "gutless" unless you put the boot into it a bit. Now before you abuse me for being stupid, please hear me out. I know its basically the same size motor as the base XR6 but with different compression. I know about bore and stroke but does the little difference in compression make that much difference? I guess I will get used to feeding the power on correctly. I just dont want to find myself doing "circle work" cause I put the boot in too much. Thirdly, the compression braking, or deceleration on the XRT seems non existant compared to the stock XR6. Do others find this or is this another thing to get used to? I just find I'm catching up to cars in front when decelerating more than I did. This is a teething issue again but just want others thoughts. Overall, pleased as punch with the car. God it has some go, and its only standard. Have opened it up a few times and it feels and sounds great. Anyway, thanks for your time and hope to hear your thoughts. Cheers.
  24. Guys, I gotta tell ya. I picked up my XRT last night. Went for a few small drives, even let my daughter drive it. MMM Sweet. But I have to se the scene here fist. There are certain sounds that are like music to your ears: The sound of a wopping V8 under acceleration. (Oh yeah) Your wife saying, "Lets have sex tonight" The cop who just pulled you up for speeding saying, "I've actually run out of tickets so I'll have to let you go". Or yours may be rain on a roof, or the birds song of a morning. But the point is there are just some sweeet sounds. Well today I had to drive to my sisters and on the way back I found myself on a two way country road behind a couple of cars, so I booted the XRT. The sound of the exhaust (what I could hear) the engine revving and the turbo building up, man is that a sweet sound. The sound of machinery doing what it wants to do. I pulled in front of these cars and looked at the speedo. Wasnt a lot of movement left to go in the needle, and it did it sooo quickly and easily. Yep I love the old cars too. The red Corvette is to die for. But this is one sweet ride and Im hooked.
