  1. Thanks for your input. Its really hard to say if its bottoming ot topping. But Ill describe it. Say I hit a crack in the road from 15kph to 60 kph, doesnt matter. The front goes over the crach with a nice wump, then the back wheel or wheels it and its like BANG. Same if I am reversing out of the drive. Sometimes the back will go bang while the front just make the soft wump sound. Now as of dampers, I wouldnt know, although the noise was there before. I just got king springs (non lowered) and bilstein shocks from Perfermance Suspeniosn in Sydney (Penrith) I didnt want adjustable as I would play too much. The pedders idea sounds good and I would love to change all the bushes but would know what to get. I guess I ll message Senna_t and get a list. But does my description help?

    Braided Lines

Now we are getting somewhere. While I'm not a track man (yet) I do punish the brakes. Comes from my background. Mind you the brakes on the car are in good knick which is surprising having done 50k. I am told though I may have issues with the Brembos and 18" factory rims. I do want the look as well. I have read really good things regarding the PBR setup and at nearly $7k for the Aps, the PBR are looking more and option.

    Braided Lines

Those were my thoughts. If Im gunna spend $ on the brakes may as well do them right. But just cant anyone to give me a comparison between PBR m, Brembos and APs.

Not at the moment. Maybe down the track so to speak. So brembos /braided lines overkill? Should just go PBR you think??

Good point. I posted another question but I'll ask it here. Been looking at Brembos, but is it a better option to go with DbAs slotted with a decent pad? I would like to go to better calipers though.

    Braided Lines

Hi all. I'm looking at Brembos or AP brakes for my car and have heard braided lines help as well. Whats the best option and supplier if anyone has any ideas? Some on ebay but ya dont stuff around with brakes in my view.
  7. I'd take it to pedders but they wanna sell you their stuff. But this is the thing that sh*ts me. Pedders tell me lower ball joints are worn. SoI book it in under warranty at Ford and they tell me they "are within tolerances". But why should I pay to fix something that should be covered by warranty?? I guess the answer is to stuff em and just put better components in despite them. 3 visits for service /warranty and they STILL can't tell me what the bang is. Hopeless.
  8. Mate I just replaced springs and shocks on my BF II. I didnt get lowered as I want to keep the stock look. But I got King Springs (not sure of part numbers) and matched them with Bilsteins shocks. I previously had an AU III which had Kings on them, only 50mm lower, and I didnt match the shocks. Mate the difference is incredible. The issue (this is my take) is the rebound damping. The springs will be stiffer and of course you hit a bump and your car will nearly bounce you out of it (exageration but close to the point). With the right shocks I get a stiffer ride but I dont bounce all over the show like in the AU. As far as wear goes, I wouldnt know as the ex wife has the car now (I laugh every time I see her bouncing down the road). But seriously, I had the sways done, then the shocks and springs and apart from the bloody knock in the rear (probably control arms) the thing handles like I want it too. Hope that helps. By the way, the man to ask is senna_t on here. He is da man!!
  9. The thing I find most absurd in a "safety feature" is how it can actually be a hazard. Example. Waiting for a gap in the traffic. You give it a little boot, not much, but enough to break traction< and in the middle of an intersection you car drops power and for an instant, you are stuck. I hate that. Yes, shouldn't boot it, but I'm talking just enough to get the sensors to kick in. The other is when your reflexes are quicker than the sensors, so the car steps out, you correct and the TC cust in and your fighting with it. The alternative of course is to turn it off and end up facing the other way. What to do? Mind you, ABS sure beats sliding on full lockup into the middle of a roundabout on a wet day.

    Next Vic Cruise

Have you guys settle on a criuse date and destination yet? If your still looking for suggestions theres always the Daylesford/Tentham/Kyneton/Gisborne sort of run. Just depends on what side of town you want to go on. Could also go down to Mornington along Eastlink. Just suggesting. I havent been on one before and am keen but don't know if you like tight and twisty or long and criusy.
  12. Thanks Smicky. This Amp in the back, would an upgraded one just plug in or do you have to modify connections? Im just hesitant to go through the process of putting RCA jacks on the ICC as I have seen. Its a bloody big job.
  13. Hi everyone. I have done a quick search on replacing speakers in a BF with premium sound and there are oodles of posts regarding it. Someone evern went through a whole acoutics lesson which was great. I realise its a matter of taste as to what speakers you go with. But the clear point I can't seem to guage is this. If replacing the front/and or rear speakers with "better" ones, do I need amps?? I was just hoping to uncrew, screw then turn on. I will keep the approximatee same power speaker as what I have now just better quality. I will eventually replace the sub and get a mono block amp (yes I know I have to wack in some RCA jacks) but then I have read you can use the rear standard AMP anyhow. So confusing. Anyway, just after a definate answer as to whether I need to go for amps just to upgrade the speakers. I am not after doof doof or to bounce along the road. Thanks guys. Wishing you all a merry christmas.
  14. Actually Gymy, no the car isn't lowered at all. Its getting worse though. It used to be every now and then but now its nearly every bump. I guess if I let it go the diff will just fall out and it'll be a case of "Theres ya problem" lol.
  15. Oh SMicky. Your just a laugh you is. If it was a crappadore I'd agree (although any car these days tends to fall apart) Seriously though, I complained to my dealer before and they said it was the diff bush. So I have found this is a common fault. So they changed it and guess what? Problem was still there. So stuffed if I know. It was in my previous BA as well. Must be just me.
  16. This noise was happening BEFORE the sway bars were fitted and before the exhaust and before the new shocks and springs.
  17. Without wanting to sound ignorant (which I am), is that easy to diagnose?
  18. Hi. I previously had an AU with Kings on it and I didnt do the shocks at the same time. So I had high rat springs without matching the shocks. The result was a good handling car but when you hit a bump the car almost bounced off the wheels. (Now it belongs to my ex wife and I laugh every time I see it going down the road). On my BF I got a set of standard height King Springs and Bilstein shocks. I guess you don't habve to go Bilstein but my point is that it is a remarkable different when you match the two. The rebound damping makes a huge difference and although I have standard height, the addition of the sway bars improved the feel of the car immensely. Senna T will se you get the right combo. Really transforms the feel of the car. Good luck.
  19. Your the upension king Pat. lol How did I know youd reply. Im one step ahead. I have removed all from the boot, checked the rear plate, the buffers on the boot lid to stop it jiggling. Its definately suspension noise and sounds like the shocks are sloose but I know they are not. But it is carried over from the original shocks. I don't think you'll be able to diagnose without seeing the car and I don't expect that. I just thought someone else may have had the same issue. It could be just me. Im just too finicky. but I hate ratlles and creaks.
  20. I just put a set of Yokohama S.Drives on mine. Very very quiet tyre and ok in the dry. I was a bit dissapointed in the wet at fist and the jury is stillout as shortly after I got them I had a Nizpro kit put on the car and went from 180 to 320 rwkw so I havent pushed it yet. But they arent a BAD tyre but I am told they gte noisy as they wear. I was leaning towards the Falkens also. Previous had the Sp Sport Maxx and they were the best tyre I ever drove on but as mentioned, wear really badly. I had like 2 sets in the space of 60k.
  21. Hi Everyone. Ive had some issues in the rear end of my car that no one can identify. Whenver I drive over a bump, the front end is fine but thback end sounds very loud. The car is a 2007 XR T with 55k on the clock. I thought it may have been worn out shocks so installed new Bilsteins and king springs but the noice remains. It is on both sids but doesnt occur over every bump. I'm thinking bushes or somehting loose. I took a Ford mechanice for a drive and even Pedders say they couldn't hear it (are the deaf) and recently had new tyres put on it but nothing was said. Anyone else had this issue? Does any one have any idea? I know its difficult without driving the car but maybe someone here has the same problem. Cheers.
  22. You should get feedback through the pedal but it could also be your ABS kicking in. 'Im not quite sure on the early models but in later years the switching and sensor array is quite refined and although you generally get good pedal feedback, each car is different. Bosch can plug into your ABS computer and give you some history but that will cost you big dollars and I'm not sure it would tell you what you wanted anyway. But it's another thing to consider. The other thing I thought it might be was brake line. If you were doing high speed (naughty boy) could be that the brake fluid temp raised so hi that the lines had more flex in them and started to flap a bit. Yes I'm probably talking through my ass but its things to consider. The overall fix? DON'T SPEED!!! (Either that or don't brake LOL) Cheers mate. Hope you find the issue.
  23. I just had a Nizpro cooler fitted. I went black as I just want the stock look. You honestly can't see it through the lower grille. I couldn't give a rats weather its centred or not. I know it makes it look good, if ya want that, but I can't see the problem. I'd say you could probably centre it but then you may end up buggering something.

    Knock Knock

Hey Pat. Feels GREAT. I was glad I got the shocks and springs done at the same time. The Yokohamas I had a few doubts about but now the car sits on the road a lot better and the tyres seem to work better too. I had a set of Kings on my AU3 but didnt mathc the shocks. You can really tell the the rebound damping is matched to the springs. Together they work really well. The ride does not feel harsh ar all but the car feels 2 feet shorter. As a package, its a handful until I get used to it. My right foot is cramping up a bit as I can't plant it as much. Oh well. I just can't beleive you can squeeze so much power from an engine with out putting a spanner to it. Bloody amazing. Thanks so much for your help. They had no problems fitting the rear sway links. They look awsome too and whatever creaking was in the rear end seems to have gone. But its been raining in Melbourne today so baby has been in the garage for most of the day :(
