  1. A SENSATIONAL run. Thanks Gary for a well organised cruise. Felt like I was on a tour. lol I still can't believe that chick/bloke on the bike near Deans Marsh on the way home. 80k on the open road, what a spanker. That supercharged XR sounded like a jet and the kids christened it the F1-11. REALLY wanna see that when he is done with it. And the guy in the blue FG (Sorry guys, I didn't get all your names) man if you get some decent brakes on that, what a car, well it is now. The new brakes worked a treat thank chr+st cause there were a coupl of those bends I went into thinkin I wasn't gunna pull up. Anyway, a really great day and for those of you who couldn't come, you missed a good run. For those of you who couldn't be bothered. you REALLY missed a great day. Bring on the next one. Best way to blow a tank (well half) a tank of juice I can think of. Cheers.
  2. Im all good. Car washed, full of petrol. Wasn't real happy helping out a friend towing a trailer load of gravel today but what ya gunna do? Anyway, babee is kleen and keen. Can't help you out with a oil cap soryy. Wish I could.
  3. They are 355mm front and back. I'll have a play tomorrow and see. May have just been the road. Bl**dy Werribee Council. How dare they build roads not suited for heavy braking at 140+
  4. lol. I've never seen them but I suppose that's the magic of them. WHo'd know unless you had a good look? lol.
  5. Well said ZAP. I got rid of the standard Dunlops recently. Horrid tyre. I researched but in the end the Bob Jane guy set me up with Yoky S-Drives. At first a very quite tyre and seemed to suit the harder Bilstein/King spring setup I have. But I have driven on a lot of tyres and to be honest, I just didn't have confidence in the S-Drives in the wet. They were quiet but I was told by a guy in the know that they would have noised up as they wore. Now what people have to realise is a good 18" tyre, may not translate to a 19" tyre. I have found this anyway. In any case, when I got the 19" wheels I went for the Maxxis MA-Z 1. A unidirectional tyre with angualr tread pattern as opposed to the sort of straight channel of the S-Drive and Sport Maxx. A little bit noisier and a slightly harsher ride going from 18 to 19 and lower profile. But from the out they grip in the dry and thus far I have confidence in the wet. I do agree totally with your opinion re tyres. A dud set will have a lower friction coefficient under heavy breaking and as soon abd the pad/rotor friction exceeds that maximum, the tyres slip. The more friction therefore grip the tyre generates allow more braking force to be applied. Sorry if I sound like an egghead but it is all basic physics and I had to know it when investigating fatal car accidents. The PBR-M seem to be a good package. As I said earlier the APs were overkill and the Brembos a little to expensive and wouldnt fit under the wheels I had, but in the end it didnt matter. The one brake package I would avoid would be the $65 caliper covers that change the look of your standard calipers so they look like Brembos. WTF???????
  6. Hi Zap and Wenier. The PBR -m is a driect bold on with braided lines. Not nearly as expensive ast the Brembos and no one know much about them. They are basically Corvette braks and with supplied mounting brackets bolt straight on. I got them from Hitech Brakes in Moorabin (Vic). The APs were just too expensive and overkill I think, and Brembos wouldn't fit under my 18's, but then these didnt either and I had to get 19's anyway. I have ridden bikes for years and never actually thought of that (silly me) so yes I would say it is me not used to it yet. The brake force distribution I had totally forgotten about. I'm going to post some pics shortly. Bloody awsom looking and the good thing is they feel normal in street mode but the few boots ive given it , well im confident this early that they wont fade. Gunna let them settle then I'll recheck everything. Im pretty sure its me getting used to it but just wanted to see what others thoight. Thanks guys.
  7. Hi all. Recently fitted a PBR-M performance brake kit to my BF XRT. This has 6 pot fronts and 4 pot rears. I have just bedded them in and and still wearing them in feeling limits ect. They definately have a lot more bite that the premium package fitted to the XRT. From 140+ KPH the old brakes would quickly "hum" when braking force was applied and the and you could feel them strat to fade as heat was built up. With these, as I imagine with Brembos/AP ect, when brake force is applied at these speeds there is no fade, just intense nagtive gs and extreme braking force is experienced. Now I know there are a lot of factors involved expecially when braking from high speed where you wish to reduce velocity quite quickly. Road camber, tyre pressure, tread paterns, road undulation etc and unless your on a track with good road surface, camber etc, you may find it difficult to stop in a completely straight line. I also realise that I have more than trebled the braking force to the rear wheels by upgrading to 4 pots. My question to anyone with a 6/4 config is, under very heavy braking from high speed has anyone experienced the feeling that the back wants to come around and meet the front? There is no bias adjustment in these cars and if there was I would say that it may need more front bias, but I am just wondering if its just a standard characteristice when braking so efficiantly from high speed. Its not an overwheliming force, but being attuned to the car I can sense it and correct. Anyway, your comments would be appreciated. For anyone who has not heard or seen the PBR-M series, so far they seem bl**dy awsome. Thanks guys/girls?
  8. Ok. Brakes all done. Now I can stop. Hey is anyone else bringing their kids? Or am I the odd one out???
  9. Hopefully I'll have the new brakes finished by the weekend (if I can get the rear rotor off. bl**dy Ford and their dumb handbrake design) so can test them out on some windies. Then a wash an polish on Saturday so all you guys don't show me up, pile the kids in a wait for the call and I'll tag on near Werribee. Yay, I get to sleep in a tad.
  10. Thanks for that. I found it on the passenger side and yes, definately a lip built up, but theres allso brake residue on the iside that covers the cog so you cannot seee it. HMM.. But once you find it....so thank you. Got the passenger side done. Ran out of daylight for the drivers side. Always tomorrow.
  11. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Thanks for your help buddy. I bet somepne posts an easier soliution 10 minutes after I get them off. lol
  12. No luck. Theres no big screw just a rubber grommet which I removed. Nothing keeping it stuck to the hub that I can see. I rotate the hid/rotor and look in with a torch and I can see what looks like the springs hoilding the handbrake shoes but no adjustment mechanism at all. Man this is soooo aggravating. Even in that link it comes off easy. Pain in the rear...literally.
  13. Bugger I rotate the wheel ands I get a different view through the hole I can see the bolts holding on the hand brake bracket etc. No cog. An couple of a allen bolts I could access through the hole and another bolt opposite this at the toip but it doesnt line up with the hole. Should I just remove the hand brake perhaps or that wont help? Surely this cant be that hard?
  14. Cant see any cogged wheel. There was a rubber bung. Removed that. All I see is like a cable.
  15. Anyone have any tips on rear rotor removal on a BF when the things wont budge? The hand brake is off. Most say bang them with a sledge hammer. Not keen but if that's what it takes.
  16. Ok. Kids getting dropped back to me on Saturday night so unless we sleep in, Ill be there. Got my walky talkys, got my hat, just need petrol and I'm there.
  17. I've had over 20 years experience driving V8s and other cars at high speeds. I started with my T as stock and was very happy with the car. I then realised that with a little bit of tinkering the enormous potential of these motors could be unleashed. I'm not a tech head or grease monkey and researched what was best bang for buck. There are plenty of tuners and mechs that will give you power. Where you go is up to you. I went to Nizpro and off the bat I got a Stage 1+ kit with their 4" massive exhaust. That was in October last year. I had come to terms with the power of the car, the lag and the massive torque it had as stock. Driving it home from Bayswater it was a different car obviously but I had enormous respect for it as I had gome from 182 rwKw to 325 rwkw and double the torque. I booted it a couple of times but nothing much as I was a little scared to end up facing the other way. So here is it 3 months later and where am I now? When I boot it........IT GOES!!! I cannot tramp it as I will just sit there wheel spinning and in any case turbos like to get some boost first. So I put the foot down gently. I cannot get my foot to the floor because, by the time I do, I'm doin 190. (Bit of an exageration but you get the idea) I have gotten use to the power now and a squirt here or there to overtake or pick a gap in traffic and it unleashes its GO!. So heres the tip. RESPECT THE BL**DY thing!!. Take it easy and feel where the boost comes in and when it doesn't. Don't leave the work shop and floor it or you may wish you didn't. Some guys are used to driving these cars and that's fair. But from me, who, as I said have had lost of experience in so called "Hi powered" cars, these things are a weapon in standard trim. Respect it and you'll enjoy it. As for 300+, I'm booked in for stage 2 in March and hope to get up around 340+. That will do it for me, but I'm not after the power as much as the driveability of the car, plus the stage 2 plenum looks hot. You will love it once your use to it, but that first time you unleash nearly 500 horse power, you wont know what speed your doin....youll be too busy hangin on. Now as a side issue, a mate just forked out $70k for a 317 kw Clubsport. He took me for a drive and yep, nice ride. He booted it and yep, got a bit of grunt. I sat him down in the T and said hang on. After a couple of full boost accelerations he asked me to stop and let him out. He did not beleive how much go it had, and I only have 325. Imagine him in one of these 380+ CARS. So good luck with your mods. Youll love it and yes, you WILL want more.
  18. Man they look the ducks guts!! If I pulled up next to you at the lights I'd have to give you thumbs up. I'm amazed though you still have a body on the car. The wheels would stop so quick you'd just about go through the windscreen, lol. Well done.
  19. Car: 07 BF MKII XR6 Turbo Transmission: ZF 6sp Semi Auto Power: 325 rwKW Boost: 14-15 PSI (Not really sure) Induction: CAI, Hi flow Filter Turbo: Stock Valve springs: Stock BF (which are the good ones I'm told) Exhaust: Nizpro 4" Howitzer Zorst Fuel pump: Walbro high flow pump Intercooler: Nizpro Injectors: 60 lb Power adder: Custom tuned by Nizpro Stage 2 this March. Stay Tuned (LOL)
  20. They are definatley PBRs as I had the rotors and calipers off last weekend. As for being 2s, if you mean 2 pistons or 2 pot, yes they are. They are great everyday brakes, certainly better than the NA, which I had 3 warped discs on. But try pulling it up from 140+ and it just doesnt like stopping. Yes I know, shouldnt be driving that fast. If you have a T I doubt youve never done it. But they are far superior than the brakes we used to have on the VK/VH/VL commodores I used to drive when I was working the highways in the 80s.
  21. No probs man. Is it Mandarine or blood orange? If mandarine, what was the old rego?? That may be my old car?? Actually no, its not a MkII. Mine was. Oh well. Those wheels do look bloody hot mate. But as I said not the look Im after. Well, not for a 45 yo to driving around it. Its bad enough with what I got already lol.
  22. When I bought my T after having a NA XR6 I noticed the brakes looked bigger. I emailed Ford to see if they could tell me what options were on it. They emailed me back saying my car had the "Premium" brake package which had bigger rotors, 322 front and 328 back with twin piston front calipers and single back. I've never measured them but they are certainly bigger that standard XR6 brakes. The fronts are ventilated, the rears are solid. As for needing them, my word you need them.
  23. Thnanks. It looks awsome but not the look I'm after. Sill question that is a T yeah? Just with the new rego and the colour that could be my old baby. Does look good though. Ive sourced some Typhoon 19" rims which are way big enough for me. But thanks again.
